SANTA CLARA, CA – Halloween Haunt at California’s Great America, the Bay Area’s premier Halloween spectacular, will begin terrifying guests September 23. Scares take place Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 30 and all guests 13 and older are invited to face their fears!
New for 2016, Fear VR: 5150 is a groundbreaking and horrifying virtual reality experience. Strapped to a hospital wheelchair, guests are at the mercy of a maniacal hospital staff. Using Samsung Gear VR, powered by Occulus, the threat is all around guests in this cutting edge new Halloween Haunt experience. (Fear VR: 5150 requires an additional fee and is not available with Fright Lane or Fright Lane Plus.)
Additionally frightening, Halloween Haunt has created five new shocking Skeleton Key experiences (available with Fright Lane Plus), taking Halloween Haunt scares to a new level of interactivity. The ghastly experiences include Hoarder House, Vanity, Dominated, Sorority Slaughter and Bone Crusher. The details of these exclusive, stand-alone experiences are closely guarded by the hundreds of monsters patrolling Great America.
Halloween Haunt is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm-Midnight through October 8 and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays from October 14-29. Sundays Halloween Haunt is open7pm-Midnight.
Halloween Haunt’s eight returning haunted mazes include: Dia De Los Muertos, Zombie High, Wax Museum Chamber of Horrors, Roadkill Road House, CornStalkers, Madame Marie’s Massacre Manor, InSanitarium and Toy Factory.
“Halloween Haunt will be more cutting edge than ever with the introduction of Fear VR: 5150,” said California’s Great America Vice President and General Manager Raul Rehnborg. “The 4D Haunt affects, combined with the latest VR technology, will be unique to Northern California and will keep Great America at the forefront of incorporating technology into Halloween attractions.”
Halloween Haunt’s four Live Shows include an all-new Nytewalkers acrobatic experience, the heinous Academy of Villains, the misfit performers of Sideshow and the return of Blood Drums, which will leave guests dying for more.
Beginning October 7, The Haunt Boofet, located in Great America Pavilion from 5-7pm, includes an all-you-can-eat fried chicken meal for as low $14.49 when purchased online. Guests must be warned monsters may steal their food or their soul.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.cagreatamerica.com/haunt with free admission for 2016 and 2017 Gold Passholders. All students can receive discounted admission by showing their valid student ID.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN FEST
For the younger set on weekends October 1-30 (closed October 2 & 23 for 49ers games), The Great Pumpkin Fest takes over Great America during daytime hours and features trick-or-treating with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang, pumpkin decorating, a hay maze and coloring. There will also be a 1,000 pound pumpkin for kids to marvel at.
Great America will celebrate the 50th anniversary of “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” with movie showings and book readings throughout the day.
