As we ease into the New Year we're starting to get back into our general update pattern and today we've got our first Universal Studios Hollywood Update of the new year. Even though we know/have heard of a lot of new things coming right now it seems that most everything is kind of small. We don't really like to say definitively what's coming until we know 100% but that doesn't mean it's not fun to speculate. ;) If you haven't used Metro to the park yet, it's really easy and the new pedestrian bridge makes it super easy to do. Wizarding World always looks great, but I think we can all admit there's something special about seeing it in the rain. Maybe because this is really the first time we've been able to see it in the rain was just within the last few weeks? The 5 minute waits for Forbidden Journey don't hurt either. The employees in this shot almost equal the amount of guests. Krusty's mouth ... the ride. A new Starway is being added to bring guests up and down the hill. For future capacity or something or other. ;) Imagine that, a park taking advanced steps and improving their infrastructure before crowds show up. Of course, any time you have construction and rain you get mud. Wheeeee!!! Everything is so green in CA right now, it's so nice for a change. Down at the bottom you can see all of the work being done to add more Starway capacity. I mean, it's already raining, might as well. =) Seriously, even cell phone pics of Wizarding World look amazing in the rain. The cold and rain make cool effects on the CityWalk fountain Speaking of CityWalk, these pics are a few days old but we figured we'd include them here. Work is FINALLY being done on Voodoo Donuts. Margaritaville is also looking great, they've been hiring so if you're looking for a job at CityWalk be sure to follow @ushjobs on Twitter. Alrighty, that's going to wrap it up for this update. We should hopefully be back at the park soon for the Lunar New Year which is beginning soon. We'll be sure to get more pics of the park projects when we do. Related Updates: We're getting down to it everybody, the big Christmas celebration is in less than a week. We hope you're getting those last minute preparations ready, it's probably the last day to order stuff on Amazon to get stuff delivered in time and the stores are gonna be packed with procrastinators. OR ... you can just sit back with a nice cup of cocoa or peppermint mocha and enjoy this great update from the Holidays at Unviersal Orlando Resort. Written by Renée Girard Spending the afternoon at Universal Orlando to see what's going on for the holidays! Picking up the new Starbucks mug from Universal Orlando too! The weather is perfect and wait times are short at Islands of Adventure. Seuss Landing at Islands of Adventure always looks fun and festive this time of year. We stopped by to meet the Grinch before going to his show. Going to see the Grinchmas show at Islands of Adventure. Feels like HHN, as we go into one of the sound stages. The performers in Grinchmas do a terrific job recreating the characters. And Max is adorable! Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey is closed for most of December at Islands of Adventure, but guests can still walk through the queue. Now on to Universal Studios for the Macy's Holiday Parade! Mannheim Steamroller will be in concert Universal Orlando weekends in December. Construction on Race Through New York with Jimmy Fallon. Construction over at the Fast & Furious Ride, with the Scooby Doo ballon. Universal Orlando has recently been testing Return Time Tickets, which you can book on the app or at a kiosk, currently only for Shrek 4D. Ending our day at Universal Orlando with the Macy's Holiday Parade! I love all of the unique floats, characters and balloons that are part of the parade. All of your favorite Universal characters make appearances in the holiday parade too! The Macy's Holiday Parade balloons are huge in person! Once Santa gets to the Christmas tree along the parade, the lights come on. Looks great! The holiday experiences at Universal Orlando are always a lot of fun to see. We had a great day! Below is a quick update from the park including some HHN preparation pics as well as some work going on near Transformers for a new attraction that everybody knows about but isn't announced yet so we'll call it "The Public Death of Wild Animals" (that's opposite of what it is right? ;) )
A busy park without AP's ... imagine that. =)
Down on the lower lot work is already going on for HHN
The spot for "The Public Death of Wild Animals" ...
The new soundstages near the Metro Sets are HUGE and coming along quite nicely.
Maze at the Metro sets ... from looking at this facade we are about 95% we have this one figured out.
Shark Week!!
Since Universal Florida decided to send out their humidity since they are mad that Universal Hollywood got The Walking Dead, we needed some yummy refreshments in the afternoon at one of our favorite spots in the park.
We hadn't seen Waterworld in about 10 years, so we were overdue
Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update. We're probably about another month or so away from getting our Annual Passes again and resuming regular park updates but we hope this one is enough to hold you over in the meantime.
