It's been a few weeks since our last Universal Studios Hollywood update, and if the progress of work going on around the park is any indication, we're going to have to start doing more of them. The park is starting to remind us of 2015 when the entire upper lot was being worked on for Springfield and Wizarding World. But this time there are three major projects happening on the upper and lower lot. Let's take a look!! Written by Gregg Condon Our first stop most days is of course Wizarding World. We got into the park right at opening and had about a 15 minute wait for Forbidden Journey. Usually we just do single rider, but sometimes we go for the full experience. It was a perfect day at the park, didn't get too busy until about 1 or 2 (as we were leaving). We of course had to get some Butterbeer. What's your favorite kind? Most of the people in our group hadn't done Kung Fu Panda yet, so we had to give that a visit. Really enjoy it. Now that Lunar New Year is over they are doing some work in Universal Plaza. Not sure if it's just general refurbishment or if they're doing something for the next event. Let's first take a look at "Unannounced Project #1" (or is this Unannounced Project #2). We have a hard time keeping track. =) The pictures seen from the upper lot don't do the size of this area justice. But on the lower lot, you can get a feel for just how big this addition is. There is actually more room here than you might think. A crane on-site can only mean one thing ... vertical construction. As you can see they are starting to go down before they go up. One of the walls is already taller than the tram. Jurassic World is really starting to take shape, you can see the T-Rex on the outside very clearly now. The most interesting thing though is this new build down near the former maintenance pool. Not sure if this is an extension of the ride or they're just re-doing this part of the backstage area. But as you can see, there is a LOT going on in this area. Further on the tour, Jaws is getting some love. Back on the upper lot, "Unannounced Project #2" is getting bigger with each visit. Alright all, that's gonna wrap it up for this update. As you can see, many new exciting things are coming to the park. They didn't move all those soundstages for nothing. As for when these projects will be "officially" announced, your guess is as good as ours. They just officially announced the new coaster in Florida, and that opens in less than 4 months. So even though we all pretty much know what the construction is for, we think it's more fun to keep calling them "Unannounced #1 and Unannounced #2" for the time being. Kind of like Thing 1 and Thing 2. =) Related Videos:

Related Updates: As we ease into the New Year we're starting to get back into our general update pattern and today we've got our first Universal Studios Hollywood Update of the new year. Even though we know/have heard of a lot of new things coming right now it seems that most everything is kind of small. We don't really like to say definitively what's coming until we know 100% but that doesn't mean it's not fun to speculate. ;) If you haven't used Metro to the park yet, it's really easy and the new pedestrian bridge makes it super easy to do. Wizarding World always looks great, but I think we can all admit there's something special about seeing it in the rain. Maybe because this is really the first time we've been able to see it in the rain was just within the last few weeks? The 5 minute waits for Forbidden Journey don't hurt either. The employees in this shot almost equal the amount of guests. Krusty's mouth ... the ride. A new Starway is being added to bring guests up and down the hill. For future capacity or something or other. ;) Imagine that, a park taking advanced steps and improving their infrastructure before crowds show up. Of course, any time you have construction and rain you get mud. Wheeeee!!! Everything is so green in CA right now, it's so nice for a change. Down at the bottom you can see all of the work being done to add more Starway capacity. I mean, it's already raining, might as well. =) Seriously, even cell phone pics of Wizarding World look amazing in the rain. The cold and rain make cool effects on the CityWalk fountain Speaking of CityWalk, these pics are a few days old but we figured we'd include them here. Work is FINALLY being done on Voodoo Donuts. Margaritaville is also looking great, they've been hiring so if you're looking for a job at CityWalk be sure to follow @ushjobs on Twitter. Alrighty, that's going to wrap it up for this update. We should hopefully be back at the park soon for the Lunar New Year which is beginning soon. We'll be sure to get more pics of the park projects when we do. Related Updates: |
