After a Multi-Year Hiatus, the Notoriously Haunted Queen Mary Brings Back Fan-Favorite Halloween Event [LONG BEACH, CA] APRIL 30, 2024 - Named one of the Top 10 Most Haunted Places in America by Time Magazine, The Queen Mary has become synonymous with ghost sightings, scares, and paranormal activity in Southern California. From 2010-2019, the legendary Dark Harbor Halloween event captivated the residents of Long Beach and beyond until the COVID-19 pandemic and ship renovations caused the event to come to a pause. Now, for the first time in nearly four years, The Spirits Rise once again at The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor! “After a four-year hiatus, we're thrilled to resurrect Dark Harbor and summon the spirits back to The Queen Mary for this coming Halloween season,” said Steve Caloca, Managing Director of the Queen Mary. “We're grateful to be working with Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, as well as the unwavering support of the City of Long Beach. This event holds a special place in the community's heart, and has long been a cornerstone of Long Beach's Halloween traditions.” Dark Harbor is a massive Halloween festival that takes place on The Queen Mary and surrounding harbor offering hair-raising-fun entertainment and special ghoulish events throughout the frightful season. This year’s event will feature haunted mazes, live entertainment, themed bars and lounges, experiences on-board the ship, festive eats and treats and, of course, the return of well-known icons like the Captain, Ringmaster, and Scary Mary. 2024 attraction details will be released in the coming months and will include both fan favorites from the past, as well as many new surprises. “Dark Harbor has become an iconic part of our city's Halloween celebrations, and we are excited to once again transform the Queen Mary into a haunted spectacle for scare-goers,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “Having brought in hundreds of thousands of visitors to Long Beach in years past, its return is another major step in the Queen Mary’s recovery and return to a premier tourist attraction. I extend my appreciation to Evolution Hospitality and Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group for their partnership and to our City Council for their support.” Southern California’s most haunted Halloween event will open on Friday, September 20th and run select nights through Saturday, November 2nd. 10/14/2019 0 Comments Dark Horizon Orlando Opening Weekend This past weekend the highly anticipated Dark Horizon opened in Orlando. Brought to us by our friends at Queen Mary's Dark Harbor, this event continues some of the amazing stories of that event and gives them a Florida Flair. Renee and Tyler were there two nights this past weekend and definitely enjoyed themselves. Let's check it out!! Written by Renée Girard Tonight is opening night for Orlando’s brand new haunt, Dark Horizon: Point of No Return. Dark Harbor on the west coast is amazing so I can’t wait to see what they’ve brought here!   The red carpet is set and we’re ready for a night of fun and fear!   The characters are beginning to emerge and we’re seeing some impressive acts.    More creatures are coming out to greet the crowd.     There’s some tasty food to sample too!  So far everyone looks awesomely creepy. Really looking forward to seeing what’s lurking inside the houses.   The cast of Ghost Ship welcomes us aboard.   Bloody Watson and the gang of Murder Island might be the creepiest of all.     Dark Harbor has secret bars, and they’ve brought that tradition to the east coast.  A backpack full of alcohol? Yes please!  We’re going in!   The Vodou House had some cool scares, and I had to crawl through a separate maze to get out!     There is a stage in the middle where different acts perform, like this guy tossing around fire!    I love unique aspects of haunted houses when you get to do something other than simply walk through!  Ghost Ship and Murder Island are the other two houses and they’re both really well done! The secret bar is located inside Ghost Ship, which is a lot of fun when you find it.   Not gonna lie, we had quite a bit to drink, but everything we had was delicious! I think the Poisoned Apple from the Cellar Bar was my favorite. I feel like there was so much to see and do, but we’ll be going back for more Saturday night!   Back for more  Love the secret bar!    Got to see a different stunt show tonight with some aerial performances.  Going down the slide on the Ghostship!  We hit all the houses again! Taking a break at the bars and then time for some more scares.    A look at a map and a view of the event from above. Related Updates:  Last night was the opening of one of our favorite events of the Halloween season, Queen Mary's Dark Harbor. We were on-hand to take in all of the mazes and more at the event. We also were able to get video of most of the mazes and of course, lots of pictures. Written by Gregg Condon When we got there it was still a bit light out  Maybe a nap before we head in?     Soon the sun came down and the Captain welcomed us into the event   As we like to do at most of these events, a live-stream of the opening moments. An overview of the event from the VIP lounge   The event always features some amazing lighting design   We of course took in all of the mazes and video'd most of them (the one for Feast didn't come out as well as we would have liked). But we hope you enjoy these!! The new maze for 2019, Rogue which replaces the fan-favorite Deadrise. A similar type theme, some really amazing special effects. Wish they would have kept the Deadrise ending though. That fog tunnel was always amazing. The Iron Master is back. We did notice a few new things this year in the maze, fun as always. Lullaby had a new path this year and a really creepy scene in the pool. One of the highlights of the event as always.  It took a few years for B340 to hit it's stride, but this is definitely now one of our favorites at Dark Harbor And last, but certainly never least, Circus is back with some new treats for you all. We of course had to take in the Slider show  We decided to do a bit of a different perspective on the show this year, we actually really dig out this came out. Hope you will too.
