Forks around North America - These Forks are for Steel Vengeance

Picture
This week on Fork Journey, we're travelling all around North America to bring you the latest and greatest in the world of forks.

We've got Canadian forks, Christmas forks, Hybrid forks, Southern Forks. All the Forks you could ever want to see.

Maybe our forks will prove our point to that other point that our points are amazing and we are worthy to point out all of the points the point wants us to point out.

Forks with some Canadian Humor

The newest members of Team Fork Journey, Nicholas and Jeff spread some of their Canadian Humor all over Fork Journey.

Idaho isn't only known for the innovators of the Hybrid coaster and potatoes, they are also known for their amazing forks!! Matt and his wife Rose checked in with the following ...

The Many Forks of Idaho

Hybrid chopstick forks, silver, plastic, stainless steel, even decorative mini forks with handles that look like Christmas lights.

As fork enthusiasts, we see the beauty in every fork, and I do my best to convey that with my photography.

This controversial beauty is reviled by traditionalists, even mocked and cursed as being less worthy than a spork!

What kind of monster do you think I am?!? I wouldn't 'rank' my kids if I had any, so why would I do such a thing? I enjoy them all...

My wife shows off our prized 'Mega Fork' - It can obliterate even the biggest salad bar creation nearly instantly. It's like the gigacoaster equivalent of eating utensils.

Forks with Southern Charm

Randy shares with us how much those in the south enjoy forks

From California where we don't know the difference between Wood and Steel

Some of our Friday Night Fork Journey comments from the Fork Journey Facebook Page
  • The utensil in question doubts its status as being a fork; indeed, it doesn't believe in labels or stereotypical typecasting, and chooses to identify itself instead as a spoon of ethnically diverse backgrounds and of non-specific utility orientation.
  •  Tis a steel fork with a wooden handle
  • Based on the name of many hybrids, it must be called STEEL FORK
  • Those are some mean streaks on that handle

We hope you enjoyed our weekly wrap-up of all things Fork Journey. Join us next week as we join Gary from Coasting with Culture as he checks out the forks of South Africa.

A look at RailBlazer and Backyard Bands and BBQ at California's Great America!

Picture
Hey there, Park Journey readers!

California's Great America is now open for the 2018 season, so we were excited to drop in and check out what's new. The park is currently debuting Backyard Bands and BBQ, a limited engagement food and entertainment event that runs March 31st to April 8th. There is a lot of work happening around the RailBlazer site, plus some really nice merchandise arrivals to check out!

Starting off, we are checking out Backyards Bands and BBQ, the new BBQ food event that is taking place around the RailBlazer "great outdoors" themed area. Above is an overview of the event, with the food and beer booth on the left and the stage for bands on the right.

The event consists of a food booth and a beer booth. You can see the menu and prices above.

Not a bad way to enjoy some nice weather at the park! I started out with the Serrano Mango Sausage and the 21st Amendment Blood Orange IPA.
We also tried the Smokehouse Chipotle Sausage and RailBlazer BBQ Pork Shank.

Once the RailBlazer construction is done, there will be a permanent stage to host future entertainment in the area. For the time being they are making use of a temporary stage. This area is going to look great once everything is complete!
Picture
RailBlazer construction is in full swing right next door. The track is complete, so it looks like most of the focus has moved to the rockwork, queue, station, and catwalks.

I love how the inversion is going to fly right above the entrance plaza and signage. This will definitely be a "signature shot" when everything is up and running.
Picture
You can see that there is still a ways to go on the theming and station. There will also be a water feature once everything is finished!
Picture
There is a great themed RailBlazer merchandise display in Inside CGA. They have a nice selection of mugs, water bottles, and apparel.

I gotta say, these RailBlazer bears are super cute! Want!

Overall, California's Great America is doing an incredible job of making 2018 the most exciting year ever at the park. The theming, food, entertainment, and merchandise is all coming together to create an incredible atmosphere in the park. It's so exciting to see Cedar Fair make these investments into the park, and we can't wait to see how everything progresses.

Thank you so much for reading!
