This past weekend we FINALLY made it out to Knott's Berry Farm to check out this years Ghost Town Alive. Oddly enough for Fathers Day the park was pleasantly empty which meant a fun day for us and the awesome characters of Ghost Town. Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to Knott's Berry Farm Be careful or you might find yourself in jail Somebody stole the Catawampus Or did it escape? It was an absolutely gorgeous day at the park We spent some time trying to solve some crimes and get edumacated ... Maybe we'll find the Catawampus on Boot Hill Excuse me sir, do you know where we can find Catawampus After wishing up a happy Fathers Day the Calico Gazette broke the news that Mayfield has been captured. Fake News? At the end of the day all is peaceful in Calico There are also some projects going on around the park Boardwalk BBQ is coming along quite nicely Over on the other side, lots of room for something ... Hopefully we'll hear what's going here very soon Last but not least, some Scary Farm prep has begun That's going to wrap it up for this update, we hope you enjoyed. This week we'll be heading up for our (mostly) "Great White North" trip with visits to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Sunday, Canada's Wonderland on Monday, Seabreeze on Tuesday and Darien Lake on Tuesday Night/Wednesday. Be sure you're following along all weekend. Related Updates: Over Memorial Weekend California's Great America kicked off their all new Craft Beer festival "Red, White and Brews". This seems like it's a pilot for the rest of the chain and if it is, you are all going to have some amazing times drinking amazing beers at Cedar Fair parks in the very near future. For a first year event it went off amazing. Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to California's Great America on a beautiful late-spring day. These chairs are empty now, they won't be for long. =) A little introduction to Red, White and Brews from the park. Just to let you know what to expect. As with other events in the chain, the tasting card is your absolute best bet. All of the food and beer is in the area around Patriot, which makes it really nice to just sit and enjoy for awhile. The booths match perfectly and are very inviting Lots of music and fun as well including Dueling Pianos One of these things is not like the other. =) The San Jose Brew Bike is also there and is a lot of fun. Although Kristi may have just liked taking pics of the driver. =) Some of the food. For a first year event Red, White and Brews was amazing. We can only see it going up from here and wouldn't be surprised at all to see it expanded to more dates next year. Just a couple of quick notes from the rest of the park. Berserker was down. Hope this isn't a sign of bad things ahead. Far too few of these left. We finally rode Patriot and it was awesome!! Last but not least, not a huge fan of "Coaster" shirts, but love this one. Also comes in black. May have to grab one on our next visit. Related Updates: Saturday we were invited out to check out the opening day of Knott's Soak City and after years of trying to get to this waterpark we finally were able to visit. And what an amazing time to visit as the park has opened 7 all new slides this season. We'll also head over to the other side of Beach Blvd to see what's going on at the farm. Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to Knott's Soak City. Look at the new hotness. Surf's up dudes!! A little rocking band at 9:00am Since we'd never been to Soak City we wanted to make sure we took a look at the entire park during our visit. Tee Hee All new Longboards Grill Really nicely done We had lunch later in the day and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich was very yummy Opening the new expansion to Soak City!! In addition to the new attractions they've done an amazing job adding new landscaping to the park The Wedge The ever popular launch slides Stay Tuned, there MAY be some pictures of me on these slides to share soon. Well maybe beware. =) The new raft slides and the launch slides are a LOT of fun. Not too intense for either one. Another look at The Wedge They've also got a couple of really awesome looking kids play area's Don't try this without a waterproof camera ... =) Overall we really enjoyed our visit to Soak City. It got really crowded later in the day as it was in the 90's in Buena Park. They have a LOT of nice area's to set up your blankets and towels for a nice day in the park, but we suggest getting there early. We took a quick detour to Knott's We were able to confirm that the Calico Soda is now available all year at both Judge Roy Beans and the Calico Saloon. It's amazing. Boomerang is completely gone Totally gone Extremely gone The new BBQ restaurant is coming along nicely Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update, we'll be back in a few weeks for the kick-off of Ghost Town Alive. We can't wait!! Related Updates: |
