This past Tuesday we were invited out to Knott's Berry Farm for an evening of tastings featuring many new items that will be available at this years Boysenberry Festival. Among the delectable eats were some truly tasty treats, many flowing drinks and of course, all the fun that Knott's has to offer. We also have a quick park update before we get started on the food. Welcome to Knott's!! Every time we try and ride Jaguar it seems to go down. But we rode it hundreds of times during Coasting for Kids so we probably are good to not ride this again, ever. A must-ride, every visit. Usually more than once. Over at the Timber Mountain Log Ride, they've made some nice updates to the Fast Lane process. Previously Fast Lane would go through the exit, which created issues for those exiting the logs, and probably a safety issue as well. Now the entrance is through the regular line The regular line gets held on the right under the sign, while Fast Lane goes to the left. They wait for the line to pass the cave before letting the next group go. It actually seemed to work really well, hopefully they're thinking of ways to make Fast Lane better at some of the other rides. Namely Montezoomas Revenge and the Rapids. Unfortunately HangTime was down all day. Pony Express was also getting some offseason love. Speaking of the rapids, some work is definitely going on, we could hear them pounding away at something. Could be another reason Pony Express was closed. Lots of room for new landscaping or other things. They were working on the queue Not sure how well you can see them, but there are ropes strung across in a few areas here. Not sure what they are for. The Galloping Goose was out, always a nice treat. Alright, let's get on with the food. The first of three videos where we talk about all of the food we tried. Don't worry, we cut out the part where we eat the food. Nobody needs to see that. =) Boysenberry Tostada with pulled pork. Super delicious. Boysenberry Salmon, nice and tasty. Boysenberry Habanero Mac and Cheese. This was a hit, and we can't wait to have it again soon. Jambalaya. It was quite good. Everything a Jambalaya should be. Didn't taste much Boysenberry, but that was ok. Chili in a Boysenberry Bread Bowl. Fantastic Chili. Yummy Bread Bowl. Chicken and Flank Steak skewers. We actually preferred the chicken, but both were very good. Boysenberry Pot Roast and Boysenberry Mashed Potatoes. Both were melt in your mouth good. Josh doesn't usually like Mashed Potatoes, but he loved these. Boysenberry Hummus. Think this is a carry-over from last year, but it was fantastic. The pita was perfect. Knott's also announced that an all new Boysenberry Pie Frozen Yogurt will be available at ALL Yogurtland locations (yes, that one down the street from you) beginning on March 18th. It's so worth it. Lastly and certainly not least, is the Berry Beast. Be sure to check out the video on how this thing was born. Some great merchandise will be available as well Back again is the Tied Up In Knott's display which showcases some great artwork featuring Knott's history. Some really fantastic art on display. This Walter Knott art is sure to go very quickly. Same with the Catawampus. This is all so good, we'd be surprised if it's not all sold the very first day of the Festival. Some great Beary Tales and Kingdom of the Dinosaurs art Classic Knott's Thanks to Knott's for having us out, we had a fantastic time, ate too much, caught up with great friends and we can't wait to do it again soon!! Related Updates: Over the weekend we were invited out to Knott's Berry Farm to check out this years Boysenberry Festival. This is one of our favorite events of the year at any park and this year was definitely not a disappointment. Great food, amazing park. Let's get to the good stuff shall we!! Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to the Knott's Boysenberry Festival!! If you'd like to take some of the event home you can get your own Boysenberry Plant!! But we're just here for the food. =) Our first of the day, Pierogis and Short Ribs. Both were absolutely amazing of course. I'm also not a big "Sour Cream" person, but Boysenberry Sour Cream? I'm all over it!! We also had to try the Coconut Macaroon, it was delightful and we still have one left. Guess what I'm eating after I finish this update. (Hey, I had a good workout today) =) Some of the booths are inside, some like the Chicken Wings are outside. Let's check out some of the amazing springtime decorations!! Where's the fog? =) Moo Some amazing artwork was on display in Wilderness Dance Hall Look closely at the Timber Mountain Log Ride one =) Love the Huff and Puff ... still want a grown up version of this classic ride Let's eat some more food shall we!! Boysenberry Sausage ... this was quite simply my favorite thing we ate all day Boysenberry Quesadilla and Boysenberry Cornbread. You can get the Cornbread at the Boardwalk BBQ. Elote ... fantástico The Boysenberry Hummus had a surprising kick to it, but it was yummy Not usually a fan of Boba, but loved this. Here's what's on the Tasting Card this year. You have 8 items to try, but it's not one for each item. You could get 8 of the same thing if you want this year. A nice change that allows you to revisit some favorites later in the day. And that's what we did. We tried everything once, and then had our favorites again later. Also, keep an eye on the a 'la carte prices, as the Macaroon is only $1.59 whereas most of the other items are $7-$8. Sadly we forgot to go back and get some of this later in the day A look at the plethora of Boysenberry Merchandise We had an amazing time as always, the park was busy, but didn't seem too bad to move around and get food. All of the lines moved very quickly and we had a fantastic time. Be sure to check out the Boysenberry Festival until April 9 . Click the link for full details. We'll be back tomorrow with a full HangTime update!! Related Updates: This past Tuesday Knott's Berry Farm held their Boysenberry Festival tasting event and we were invited out to check out the event. Scott and Buffy were on hand to take in all of the amazing boysenberry goodness. Be sure you bring your appetite for this update. Written by Scott and Buffy Linder One of the most anticipated events of the year at Knott’s Berry Farm is their annual Boysenberry Festival. If you like good food or boysenberries (or good food AND boysenberries) then this year’s festival will NOT disappoint. Let us look at what you will be able to get during this upcoming 23-day food fest: One of the things they like to highlight is all of the new Boysenberry-themed merchandise you can get. Some new stuff this year – Boysenberry Bacon jerky, sugar-free Boysenberry Punch concentrate, Boysenberry Jelly Mini-pies and more! Regular and Sugar-Free Boysenberry Punch concentrate! Boysenberry Rock Candy Sticks, with Boysenberry Cream Soda on the left and Boysenberry Chocolate Bars on the right. Boysenberry Bark Bars! Boysenberry Chocolate Popcorn. Boysenberry Chocolate Almonds and Caramel Bites. Some Boysenberry (You sense a theme here?) Jelly Mini-Pies. Boysenberry Peanut Butter Jelly Cups. And that’s not including some T-shirts and Boysenberry Cotton Candy you can get during the Festival as well. Now, for some fantastic food! They really run the gamut here from a Boysenberry Hummus to a Boysenberry Quesadilla. I will be quiet now and just let you enjoy the food pics! Boysenberry Hummus and Grilled Pita Boysenberry Quesadilla with Mozzarella, Cotija Cheese, Boysenberry Salsa and Sour Cream Boysenberry Cheddar Cheese Pierogi topped with Bacon, Onions and Boysenberry Sour Cream Wine Tasting Plate Boysenberry Elote with Boysenberry Mayo, Butter and Parmesan Cheese Boysenberry Chicken Wings with Boysenberry BBQ Sauce Boysenberry Short Ribs Boysenberry Mini Sausage on a Bun Yes. That is a real 2-foot long hot dog on a boysenberry bun. Boysenberry Cake Their famous Boysenberry Funnel Cake Boysenberry Chocolate-dipped Strawberries Editors Note: OMG, can't wait to try these on the 18th Boysenberry Cookiewich Their signature Boysenberry Pies Boysenberry Macaroons Boysenberry Stuffed Churro In addition to those there were also their Boysenberry Cheesecake Popsicles, dipped in a Boysenberry Chocolate fountain (Those were fantastic!), a Boysenberry Pie Milkshake and a Boysenberry Boba Tea. Let’s not forget they have a pretty good Boysenberry Beer, too! We were able to try most of the dishes shown above. Everything was very good. That is not even an exaggeration. The chefs at Knott’s are getting very good using Boysenberries in both sweet and savory applications. A lot of the savory dishes you try you might expect a sweet component to the dish with the incorporation of the boysenberries…but you don’t. So what were some of our favorites? According to the chefs here they really do try to make it so everything is really good and it’s hard to pick favorites. It really is! That said the standouts for me were the Boysenberry Short Rib – falling apart and just melt-in-your-mouth delicious … …and the Boysenberry Mini Sausage on a Bun with a choice of Boysenberry Ketchup, Boysenberry Relish or Boysenberry Mustard. I had the mustard. My wife, however, loved the Boysenberry BBQ Wings. These are a returning champion as they keep coming back every year. They are THAT good! This year Knott’s is also including a small art festival titled “Tied Up In Knott’s” where select local artists are having their works showcased. It’s some really neat art and you should check it out when you visit! Knott’s Berry Farm’s Boysenberry Festival 2018 runs from March 16th to April 8th. Click here for more details on the Knott's Boysenberry Festival 2018 Thanks to Scott and Buffy for the amazing report. We hope you all enjoyed!! Related Updates: |
