Welcome to our second look a the Holidays around Walt Disney World. When we last left our world travellers Renee was about to take the stage with Neil Patrick Harris and we wondered just what would happen next. As expected, the event went off without a hitch and it was a beautiful evening enjoyed by all. So let's just pick up with this beautiful holiday tradition. If you missed our first update earlier this week, click here to check it out. Written by Renée Girard Epcot's Candlelight Processional is a perfect holiday tradition. Neil Patrick Harris is always such a wonderful narrator. Time to eat around the world! Stopped back at Alpine Haus for some delicious and filling cheese fondue! Editors Note: Apparently Twitter thinks the Cheese Fondue at EPCOT is sensitive material. I mean, it's amazing, but not THAT amazing (if you know what I mean). ;) At Feast of the Three Kings, I had to try the coquito. So good! Seasonal Southern looks to have some tasty treats. Getting a little stuffed already but will definitely be back! Crazy Elf looks like another drink we'll have to try next time too! The bakery at Norway has one of the best desserts I've had in a while, pumpkin cheesecake with chocolate topped with pumpkin seeds! I've seen plenty of ugly Christmas sweaters but never an ugly Christmas suit. Most impressive! Had a lovely evening celebrating the holidays at Epcot. We'll be back to see more soon! Enjoying a lovely morning on the water at Disney's Boardwalk Resort. Lots of holiday treats available at the general store at Disney's Boardwalk. The Boardwalk Bakery is one of my favorite places in WDW! Pumpkin streusel muffin and coffee from the Boardwalk Bakery to start the day. Going to see what holiday offerings are at Disney Springs tonight! Decorations from all of the holidays for the season line the sidewalks of Disney Springs The decorations in the Town Center of Disney Springs look beautiful! Dining at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar tonight! Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar has some holiday specials as well as a happy hour menu. The view outside while dining at Jock Lindsey's during sunset is quite nice. Reggie's Revenge is one of my favorite drinks to get at the Hangar Bar. It's a little pricey, but all of the small plate dishes we tried at Jock Lindsey's were very good! At the Disney Springs Welcome Center, we picked up booklets to play Stitch's Holiday Gift Hunt. Some of the beautifully delicious holiday treats at Amorette's Patisserie. Saw both showings of tonight's Starbright Holidays show from two different locations. A really cool, creative little show! One of the Intel Shooting Star drones from Starbright Holidays on display at Disney's Pin Traders. The technology they do is awesome! New this year at Disney Springs is the Christmas Tree Trail, over in the marketplace next to Once Upon a Toy. All of the Christmas trees along the trail are themed to some of the classic Disney animated movies. The Christmas trees aren't anything amazing or flashy, but I'm a fan of anything Christmas-y, so I enjoyed them. Christmas tunes to sing and dance along to, thanks to the DJ at the Disney Springs marketplace. Always love seeing the holiday touches added to the Disney parks and resorts. Disney Springs looks great! Ending the evening with Sprinkles cupcakes. Seasonal flavors are chocolate peppermint and gingerbread. So good!! Related Updates:
What's the best part of living in Central Florida or Southern California in the Theme Park "offseason"? That's right, our theme parks don't close. While some go to weekend only operation those of us in CA and FL can literally visit a theme park every day of the year. And when you're incredibly local that means you can visit a few times over the span of a couple of weeks and experience a plethora of different experiences. And that's just what Renée has been doing over the past few weeks, so we have great stuff from so many of the great Holiday happenings at Walt Disney World that we couldn't dream of fitting it into one update. And we still have a few weeks until the Holidays are over so who knows where our adventure is going to take us next. Written by Renée Girard Cast previews for Disney's Rivers of Light begins tonight. No photos or video allowed but we'll be there! Hoping for a great show! Getting ready for Rivers of Light to start in 30 minutes! Got our seats and beer, let's do this. No photos tonight. Excited to see this much anticipated show! 10 minutes till it starts. We loved Rivers of Light! Beautiful show, amazing technology, and a million times better than Jungle Book. This week we're spending some time at the Epcot area resorts. The Boardwalk is great all year round but it's perfect for the holidays! Right next door at the Boardwalk, the Flying Fish restaurant has recently been renovated. It looks beautiful! Everything was delicious! I enjoyed the frittata with a caffe latte. Everyone else had egg dishes as well, and pancakes, all equally yummy. One of Disney's newest themed bars, Abracadabar, on the Boardwalk. It's a small space packed with lots of unique detail. Open 4pm-midnight. It wouldn't be Disney without a hidden Mickey! The one in Abracadabar isn't so hidden but still very cool. Looking around at some of the holiday decorations at the Epcot resorts too. Over at the Beach Club, there is the gingerbread carousel. Christmas tree in the lobby of Disney's Yacht Club resort. Having some drinks at the Crew's Cup Lounge at Disney's Yacht Club resort. What a cool, cozy little bar this place is! Dinner tonight is at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney's Yacht Club Resort Had an amazing meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse! Definitely highly recommended by everyone in our party! And of course, any dinner near EPCOT would be incomplete without the "Peace on Earth" finale of IllumiNations Goodnight from Disney's Yacht Club resort! We are starting our day with breakfast at the Captain's Grille at Disney's Yacht Club resort. You can order regular breakfast menu items at Captain's Grille but we're going with the buffet. New this year, Captain's Grille is offering the Candlelight Processional dining package. It's a great deal and guaranteed seat for the show! Tonight we will be celebrating the Holidays Around the World at Epcot! One of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit is to see the Voices of Liberty sing. There are a lot more Food & Wine-ish offerings for the holidays at Epcot. Looking forward to trying some later! But first we will be attending the Candlelight Processional narrated by Some of us are attending the show, with one performing in it. Nerves are starting to set in, even tho this is my third year doing it! Eek!! Showtime in 30 minutes! Always a joy to share the stage with the legend....ary Neil Patrick Harris! And we'll leave you waiting for part two to see what happens at the Candlelight processional. Did Renée fall off the stage? Run off with Neil Patrick Harris to raise babies in the Haunted Mansion? You may never know ... or you know, just find out on Thursday in part II of our epic adventure. =) Related Updates:
Happy Friday, we hope you had a great short work week and have enjoyed all of the amazing updates this week. Today we have the second part of Renée and Andrew's weekend at Disneyland. If you missed part one of their update be sure to check it out here. Written by Renée Girard and Andrew Cunningham (Click on any of the pictures below to see a larger version) We are up bright and early to run the Disneyland 10k! And we made it to Agrabah! After running a 10k, might as well drop in one last time at DCA Tower. Our last ride on classic DCA Tower. Fun ride but we're fine with Guardians coming in. After all, FL does it better:) Going to check out Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters in Cars Land. Luigi's is a cute ride, definitely a nice addition to Cars Land. We might regret this, but we're going on the swinging gondolas on Mickey's Fun Wheel. Immediately regretting this as we swing freely above DCA. But you do get a nice view of the parks from Mickey's Fun Wheel. California Screamin' has been down all morning. So far one train is cycling the track. Radiator Springs Racers is also down again No line at the beer truck and 2 major rides down? Guess what we're doing! Disneyland has jalapeño cheese pretzels. Please bring them back to WDW! Haunted Mansion is closed but reopening in a few days with their holiday layover. Rivers of America is also closed, but still offers a lovely view. You can see a bit of the Star Wars land construction just behind the walls in Critter Country. Haven't seen too many of the Disneyland "gangs" this weekend. We were curious as to why Walt is in quotes on theirs. Having a pre-marathon dinner at DCA's Wine Country Trattoria. Delicious meal of pasta, with a side of wine, to get some carbs in before tomorrow's Disneyland Half One last stop at Cars Land and Radiator Springs before heading out for the night. Ever see a line at the Starbucks at Downtown Disney at 5am? Gotta get some fuel for the Disneyland Half! The elite runners in the Disneyland Half are on their way! Just another morning run with thousands of other sweaty crazy people. Corrals backed up all the way to the parking structure. Here we go! See you in 13.1 miles! Cars Land was up first Running through the Paradise Pier area of DCA, with the World of Color fountains on. The Three Caballeros were among the characters along the route in DCA Tower of Terror in the background of Flik's Fun Fair, a view that will soon be changing. Here's what you've all been waiting for... The back side of Tower! The course changes had us go through Disneyland for a shorter distance but back to DCA after Storm Troopers were the only Star Wars characters out and about in Tomorrowland. Going through Fantasyland and of course the highlight of running through Sleeping Beauty castle Love that the Disney PhotoPass folks are doing the course photography here too Characters from Robin Hood on the bus on Main Street Got to catch up with the news boys on their trolley on Buena Vista Street at DCA. One more run past Tower before exiting the parks and on to the streets of Anaheim. All of the cast members and volunteers throughout the race course were awesome! Before finishing back at Disneyland, the next best thing is running at Angel Stadium! Finished! More Disneyland Half updates to come, but shower and breakfast come first. Please make a separate line at bag check for runners after the race. This is painful. After finishing the Disneyland Half & Disneyland 10K , a perfect way to celebrate is lots of food at Goofy's Kitchen Our afternoon of relaxation includes beer at Grand Californian's Hearthstone Lounge. Love this hidden Mickey, that you can find in the lobby of Disney's Grand Californian hotel. And our Disneyland Half weekend has come to an end. See ya next year! Related Updates: |
