Theme Park Challenges Guests to Ride 80-mph Roller Coaster in Tank Tops, Shorts in Frigid Winter Temperatures to Benefit Special Olympics New Jersey
Jackson, NJ — November 19, 2019 — On the heels of the notorious Coffin Challenge, Six Flags Great Adventure announces its next zany event -- the Polar Coaster Challenge. Named after the meteorological term for dramatically fluctuating temperatures expected for this winter, the Polar Coaster Challenge dares guests to ride the 230-foot-tall Nitro roller coaster wearing just tank tops and shorts in frigid temperatures Dec. 7 at noon.
To participate in the Polar Coaster Challenge, participants must:
NJ101.5’s Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow will be on site at Six Flags to celebrate the polar coaster as guests board Nitro to face the winds of winter at speeds up to 80 mph.
The theme park has partnered with Special Olympics New Jersey to host the event, kicking off the plunge season, which includes their popular Polar Bear Plunges at Wildwood in January and Seaside Heights in February of 2020. The Polar Coaster Challenge is free with theme park admission, Membership and Season Pass. Discounted admission tickets are available on sixflags.com using the promo code “polar” and $2 from every admission ticket will be donated to Special Olympics New Jersey.

Spectacularly Lit Winter Wonderland Begins November 23
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — November 19, 2019 — Six Flags America, DC’s Thrill Capital, announced that the wonder and awe of Holiday in the Park begins November 23 through January 1 with fully immersive experiences. Enjoy the year’s biggest and best holiday celebration with millions of glittering lights, dazzling holiday entertainment, delicious seasonal treats, visits with Santa and thrilling coasters and family rides.

On December 7, guests can take the Polar Coaster Challenge. This quirky and frigid special event, named after the meteorological term for dramatically fluctuating temperatures expected for this winter, will challenge guests to ride the Wild One roller coaster in bathing suits or tank tops and shorts before park opening.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet kids and families and take fun photos. Delight in glorious new sweet holiday treats such as S’mores Sweet Potato Fries (Sweet Potato Waffle Fries drizzled with chocolate and marshmallow and finished with graham cracker crumbs) and Fried Gingerbread cookies or roast s’mores to perfection over wood burning fire pits. Returning for 2019 in the spirit of the season and back by popular demand with more daily showings is Behold, the Messiah at the Grand Theatre and each day at Circle Stage at 5:00 p.m., join Santa in a countdown to lighting a 27-foot tall tree.
