Guests Can See the New Addition at the Park’s Animal Nursery
VALLEJO, Calif. — July 2, 2019 — Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the Thrill Capital of Northern California, today announced the addition of Cain, an eight-week-old male lion cub. The cub was born on May 6 at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.

“We are thrilled to have Cain join us as the newest member to the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom family,” said Animal Care Director, Dianne Cameron. “Expert caregivers will be providing him with around the clock care for the next few months. Cain’s mother, a first time mom, did not properly care for him and our veterinary team made the decision to intervene. He will eventually be introduced to our lionesses and become king of the pride! He will serve as a majestic and powerful ambassador for his species.”

Guests to the park will be able to visit Cain at the Animal Nursery now until the lion cub eventually gets assimilated and joins the two other existing lionesses at the popular Lion’s Lair habitat.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a professionally accredited and certified animal care facility maintaining and exceeding complex and individualized standards of care and welfare that are mandated by the American Humane Association (AHA), the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA), and the Zoological Association of America (ZAA). The park is also strictly regulated by the State of California Fish and Wildlife and by the federal government, under the USDA, APHIS, and NOAA.
