Tenth Consecutive Year of Special Initiative to Serve the Community
VALLEJO, Calif. — November 8, 2019 -- Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the Thrill Capital of Northern California, and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord, Northern California’s biggest and most thrilling waterpark, announced today that they are joining other Six Flags parks across North America for a day focused on serving the community. Park employees from maintenance workers to animal care specialists will be suspending their normal duties for the day to share their knowledge and experience in helping several non-profit organizations that serve the surrounding areas.

“We all live and work in these same areas that need some assistance,” said Park President Don McCoy. “Each of these organizations do so much good for the local community and it is our privilege to share our most valuable resource, our team members, to give them that aid that they need.”

The non-profit organizations that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord employees will be volunteering at are:
    • Operation Gratitude (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) – Putting together paracord survival bracelets and writing letters that will be included to care packages for deployed troops, veterans and first responders;
    • Humane Society of the North Bay (Vallejo) – Improving the living conditions and enclosures for the animals housed there;
    • Loma Vista Farms (Vallejo) – Providing general farm maintenance in their effort to recover from a devastating animal attack and resuming educational initiatives at the farm;
    • Child Haven (Fairfield) – Assisting with maintenance of the facilities where services are provided to children and families that had suffered severe neglect or experienced traumatic abuse;
    • Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano (Fairfield) – bagging donated produce that serves everyone from children to seniors in need of emergency and supplemental food sources.
