We'll start off with a fun video of the Gold Passholder walk-back to the ride. It was about 5 minutes long, but that was boring. So we sped it up and added some Yakety Sax. Plus we took a look at the estimated 3 hour line. After letting us into the park via the side entrance near Will-Call, they held all of the Gold Passholders near Vault 666. Written, Photographed and Video'd by Gregg Condon Five visits to Six Flags Magic Mountain in one week, there's got to be a good reason to visit a park that much, and fortunately this week there is. =) We headed back up to the park today to take in opening day. No ceremony was held, but the park was packed, the ride was amazing and once again the staff of the park showed what they can do when teamwork is the name of the game. Because one can apparently never have enough pictures of Full Throttle ... =) And they're off!!! Still a few things to be done. So the line stopped just past the Screampunk District sign, but they quickly filled up the queue building and the line that goes down towards Scream. They were also giving out boarding passes today. Oh yeah, Scream is back open ... "Thanks for rememberin' me" They gave out some awesome "I Rode First" buttons at the exit. At the end of the video above (under Superman) it was an estimated 3 hour wait. They conceded that it may have been 2 1/2, but better to tell people 3 hours and have it be shorter. =) So it's been awhile since we've actually walked out into the park, seriously, even though we've been at the park a LOT over the last month, today was the first day we ventured outside of Screampunk District since April. Soooo ... what's going on? Looks like at least one Jet Stream Boat is getting some TLC, this looked great from up close on the ride. But of course, we aren't going to take pictures from the ride now are we. =) Hoping this is just the first of many re-done boats. What, a theme park that actually goes all out for Grad Night and does decorations? =) Full Throttle Nights is back ... TONIGHT!!! Swashbuckler looks VERY close to being back open, and looks great. Goliath, still closed. Today was Jubilee, always one of the busiest days of the year. Need to try these, hopefully they are still around on our next visit. And with that, our Twisted Colossus updates have come to an official end. Hats off to the entire RMC and Six Flags Magic Mountain crew for creating an amazing ride that seems to be loved by all. This truly is the coaster the park has needed for a LONG time. High capacity, high fun and high repeatability. We're most likely going to be taking a bit of a break from the park, it's Hurricane Harbor Season so we'll likely have an update from there in the next week or two, but it may be longer, just depends. Family obligations are going to take priority for awhile. But that doesn't mean we won't be doing anything, you'll just have to wait and see what we've got in store. =) If you enjoyed this update please share with your friends and make sure you "like" us on Facebook and "follow" us on Twitter and Instagram. If you have any comments, please share them below. What a Lovely Day!!! Seriously. Media Day for Twisted Colossus was all kinds of amazing. Not only is Twisted Colossus amazing, not only is the Steampunk District amazing, not only is Scream back open (tee hee) but Six Flags Magic Mountain just put on what is probably their best media day event, at least best out of the half dozen or so we've been to. More than it just being an amazing day, you could tell by how relaxed and at ease the Six Flags Magic Mountain management and staff were, they know they've got an absolute hit on their hands, and they hands down do. Below we'll break down Media Day and share some videos (there are four of them). Our full reviews of the ride and area will come after opening weekend. Written by Gregg Condon - Photo's by CoasterMatt and Gregg Condon - Video by Gregg Condon First up, let's kick off the event with Bonnie Rabjohn and friends opening Twisted Colossus with lots of pyro. Because pyro makes everything better. Be sure to watch all of the video's below in HD Quality!!! And of course, we've got some amazing pictures as well. Bonnie Rabjohn addressing the crowd. We actually spent a lot of time just chatting with Bonnie at the event, she's always been so gracious and cool with us and it's much appreciated. Like I said above, you can just tell by her staff that they love working for her and that they all love what Twisted Colossus and the Screampunk District will bring to the park. This is obviously one of CoasterMatt's shots. And this one too. =) One of only two contributions from Gregg this update. =) Enjoy the ride in motion ... Bonnie Rabjohn, Doug, Greg and Jeff Bernard (who built the original Colossus) and Fred Grubb from RMC. Twisted Colossus is hardly the only thing new at Magic Mountain, the Screampunk District looks AMAZING and along with DC Universe is the best themed area in the park. It's easy for people to say Twisted Colossus is so good because it was done by RMC, but keep in mind, everything else from Twisted Colossus being painted and having wood replaced to the queue to ALL of Screampunk was done in-house at Six Flags. And they did an AMAZING job. Below we have a full walk-through of the area and a lot of the little touches they added really do go a long way. As you'll see from the pics below, it really is quite amazing. New at the Gearworks Theatre this summer is Kwerk created by Michael Turco who has done a few shows at the park now as well as the Fright Feast dinner shows for Fright Fest. We saw a preview of the show and enjoyed it a lot. Definitely the most ambitious show Six Flags Magic Mountain has ever attempted. Hopefully people will take the time to see it. Lots of great little touches in the area and it's nice that they went drought resistant here in California. Been looking for a new bike ... =) Last and certainly not least, the crown jewel in the parks coaster line-up ... Twisted Colossus. We've got two great videos for you. First up a walk-through of the queue building and a POV video from the last seat on the train. I love that they've re-purposed the Colossus building but updated it to fit the theme, but also keeping some little touches of the original. It works very well. Great steampunk touches in the queue. And of course, our reverse POV footage and full on-ride POV of Twisted Colossus. Thanks for following along with our updates during media day, without a doubt it was the single biggest day in the history of this website, on social media anyway. A lot of new fans have found us on Facebook (almost 60 on Media Day) and for that we are totally grateful for you fans sharing our updates. One of our posts (the POV video) received more than 10,000 views in the first few hours, for us that's simply unbelievable and unfathomable. But we are so grateful you've all enjoyed the updates. And of course, in August we'll be hearing what Six Flags is bringing to their parks in 2016 and this will all be starting over again. And we'll of course be along for the ride. If you have any comments, please share them below. Last week Six Flags Fiesta Texas held their media day for the all new Batman: The Ride which opens this Saturday!! Unfortunately weather wreaked havoc on the day and not even Batman could hold off the storm. But that didn't stop Mary and Becky from having an AMAZING time at the event and getting some great pictures!!! Mary's review of Media Day: The media only event was top notch. From the limo ride to the red carpet. Awesome fireworks and large confetti that resembled bats flying when set off were the back drop while the Batman theme music played. The food was great, they had coconut shrimp and pork tenderloin with all the fixings and sides you could want. The only setback was the weather. The few people that were able to ride said it was like nothing they had ever ridden before. Some even said it actually scared them in a good way, exhilarating and fun. I can't wait to ride soon. Thunderstorms and lightning foiled our plans this time but we did sit in the chair at the front of the ride and pretend to ride. Plus I got to meet Batman. And who doesn't love Batman. Mary and Becky are ready for the red carpet treatment at Six Flags Fiesta Texas The Red Carpet at one of the best Six Flags parks. Love what they've done with the ride entry. That sure does look fun. Some of the queue. Even though they couldn't ride, Mary and Becky still had some fun in the test seat. What event for a new Batman ride would be complete without a picture with Batman. Here is some on-ride footage of the ride for those who may not have seen it yet. Thanks so much to Six Flags Fiesta Texas for having us out, we enjoyed sharing the pictures on media day and can't wait to get out there and ride for ourselves. And a HUGE thank you to Mary and Becky who are pretty much like Gregg's sisters, except the pretty much part. Almost 25 years of friendship will do that. =). And they've both promised to be our new Texas correspondents, so yay!!! They will be sending more from Fiesta Texas when they get out there and ride Batman soon.
