Last night we got a special preview of the all new Justice League Battle for Metropolis at Six Flags Magic Mountain. We're going to share some pictures, no spoilers of course. They actually took away our camera's and phones for certain parts of the attraction. We also have a quick review of the ride, again, no spoilers. Written by Gregg Condon It's officially summer in Southern California, but it sure makes for some nice pictures. Tidal Wave's entrance is now moved, it was still closed. It's desperately needed right now. Something is behind here. Some walls are down and you can see the Hall of Justice. They still have some work to do before media night tomorrow. Excited to ride Riddler's again. Despite all the rumors to the contrary, they did paint this wall. It looks great in person. We had a bit of time before our ride on Justice League so went to ride Apocalypse. The re-track has definitely helped this ride. We are among the first to ride. You can get one of these buttons as well if you attend on opening day. They will be giving these out until they are gone. As close as we got to Ace O' Clubs (until tomorrow night) The Hall of Justice looks great!! So does Riddler's Revenge with it's all new fancy sign. Inside the Hall of Justice Unlike the other versions where all of the statues and pre-show stuff is just in the queue, this version actually has two pre-show rooms. Cyborg explains the ride Some video of the pre-show. YES!! There is a Single Rider Line!!!! The ride is amazing. For me the gold-standard for "shooter" rides is MIB at Universal Orlando. So I'm not going to say it's on that level. But every time I rode I had to remind myself that this is at SFMM. For me it was a cross between Transformers at Universal Studios and Buzz Lightyear. I'm not the biggest fan of Transformers so thought this was much better. The screens and scenes blend seamlessly and I think this is going to be a huge hit for the park. I haven't ridden the other versions so I'm not sure what's different on this one vs the others other than the pre-show. Hopefully once some others ride we'll do some comparison updates. But this is definitely a MUCH needed family attraction to a park that's short on them. After closing down the park we always see Raccoon's hanging out. This visit was no exception. Beautiful Moon over the park as we headed out. Related Updates: Wednesday night we got a great preview of the new Metro Park Pub inside the all new Metropolis at Six Flags Magic Mountain. In addition, we got some opening day info for Justice League. The ride will open on July 12th and Media Night will be on July 11th, we will of course be there. Check out the report below. Written by Matthew Nelson It was a beautiful day at Magic Mountain But this is really why we're here Before we head to the Pub, a look at the Justice League facade The Pub has lots of places to sit and enjoy a nice spring, summer or fall evening (let's face it, we don't get much winter) They are still doing some work prior to the grand opening on the 12th Riddlers was testing as well We had an AMAZING ride on X2 And a look at the amazing fountain. Love the lights they've put here. Related Updates: Today we headed out to Six Flags Magic Mountain to take in an offseason weekday and look at the progress on Justice League and Metropolis. We'll also take a look at what's going on over at Hurricane Harbor which opens soon. Written by Gregg Condon From up on top of the hill you can see the new colors on Riddlers, well at least the track. The lighter shade is NOT the final color of the supports, that's just the primer. It's going to be so nice to see this ride shiny and chrome again. Through the trees you can see a bit of the final color of the supports. They definitely aren't as bright as they looked in the concept art. Old and new. Much prefer the new. The loop is staying green. Some reports we saw over the weekend indicated they were going to paint it yellow, but glad they went this way. You can see the final color of the supports on the right side of the loop. One tidbit we did learn from the park is that there will be no additional hard hat tours of the ride or metropolis. This likely means they are very far along on the ride and want to keep the surprises a surprise. A few other things will be coming from the park soon and we think you are going to like it but we've been sworn to secrecy. As you can see here they are starting to build the entry into the building. Some old, some new. It's going to be great to see the new look of this area. Looks like JB's is getting ready for it's makeover. Wanted to also touch on a couple of things regarding the delay of this version of Justice League:
So yes, while it sucks it's not open yet, SFMM is a year-round park and the hidden blessing in this is that they won't be going head to head with Guardians opening. Moving on from Metropolis, since we were actually just taking it easy in the park today we noticed some new things that we probably missed on previous visits. Looks like the Superman logo got some fresh paint recently. Weird spot for that trash can though. Some new tables and planters just outside of Jet Stream. This will be nice overflow seating for the new food area. All set for Grad Nite. The first one is tonight. We've also been remiss in taking a look at Hurricane Harbor which opens for the season on Memorial Weekend. The family raft ride got a new coat of paint. And it looks like it's getting some new fancy rafts to match. Love little things like this that normally don't get noticed. Hoping for a nice Hurricane Harbor expansion one of these years. Some of the original slides are in need of replacing. Alright, that's going to wrap it up, we hope you enjoyed the update. Not sure when we'll have another update, just depends on a few things going on over the next couple of weeks. Also, if you can't wait to see what Justice League is going to look like (minus the couple of surprises in the SFMM version) be sure to check out our Media Day Coverage of Justice League at Six Flags Over Georgia.
