![]() Six Flags Corporation announced their 2018 expansion plans for all of their parks today. For the first time in a few years we really have no leaks, just lots of rumors. We are very excited for a few of the announcements, kind of perplexed by a few based on what they were teasing, but overall happy that some parks are choosing to not just focus on new rides but overall park improvements. Hopefully with the new rides will also come general park improvements around those rides. As always we'll start on the West Coast and work our way east. Be sure to take our poll at the bottom of the article. Six Flags Discovery KingdomHarley Quinn's Crazy Coaster Time to get twisted! We headed up to Six Flags Magic Mountain the other day to take a look at the all new white train on The New Revolution and to take a look around the park at what's maybe coming for 2017.
We'll be back at the park on Thursday so we'll have more from The New Revolution then but for now let's take a look at the new train and some nice night shots from friend of the site Cody. But the bulk of today's update is going to be looking at the potential for 2017 and a nice video we put together discussing some things about that project. Not really "what" the project us (as we don't know) but the potential and what that might mean for the rest of the backside of the park.

Before we get started, don't forget to get your tickets for Mountain Madness 2.0. We've got a great day planned for you and you definitely don't want to miss it. Click the picture below for all of the details.
The nice and shiny white train
If possible it was actually a bit smoother than the red train. So good to have this back. Took a nice front seat ride today without the VR.
And despite rumors, we did confirm with the park there will not be a 3rd train. Just the Red and White. Too bad as a a Blue train would have filled out the connection quite nicely.
How about a few night shots from our good friend Cody who was at the park last night.
And lastly, a couple of gif files we created from video Cody sent us. Love the classic amusement park feel this gives off.
Alright, enough of The New Revolution for now. We'll have more of that later in the week.
Our main update this week is looking at the 2017 project area and some speculation on not really the "what" is coming but what that means to the surrounding area.
We'll start back at the Action Theater which has been completely removed.
Lots of room here for "something" whether it's a Justice League dark ride or some other type of ride.
Fences all around the area. Once they start building something it's going to be pretty obvious what's coming.
Tidal Wave is closed, whatever is coming we have a feeling it's going to be DC themed. Let's hope this ride stays with a nice Aquaman re-theme.
Elsewhere in the park, Grad Nights are coming.
"It's peanut butter jelly time!"
Season Pass previews for The New Revolution end on April 17. The ride will be closed April 18-20 and reopen on April 21 with the ribbon cutting at 11am.
Total accidental almost awesome coaster shot. Didn't even notice the train coming down the first drop until I got home. =)
Lastly, new slide pieces continue to show up on site. These are replacing the kid friendly slides at the front of the park on "Reptile Ridge". Not sure if it's also replacing the speed slides that are there as well, let's hope the middle slide is staying. That's the best body slide in the park.
Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update.
Be sure to check out the video above and let us know what you think about our 2017 project speculation and if you think we're crazy or are making maybe a little bit of sense. We'll be back up at the park on Thursday for the grand opening of The New Revolution and then on Friday we'll be at Discovery Kingdom for a tour of The Joker. Obviously, the first thing one must do is download the app and figure out where in the plethora of other apps you are going to put it. Luckily I have a folder dedicated to Theme Park apps. Yep, I'm a dork. =) (Click on any of the pictures below to see a larger version) ![]() A new app has been released by Six Flags that has some pretty great capabilities so of course we took some time today to play around with it, gathered some screen shots and we'll review it for you below. If you'd like to download it you can do so from the Android or Apple store. Written by Gregg Condon Once you download the app you can either enter in your pass number or scan it. I had no problem scanning my pass and it came right up. Perks and Conditions and where the pass is valid at. Your home park is also featured at the top by default. You can also access your Rewards and Coupons to see what's already on your pass. Bonus!!! If you are visiting another park you can click the "Park Selection" and see hours, events and rides at any of the Six Flags parks. Parks are listed alphabetically (by state) and are easy to navigate through them. La Ronde and Six Flags Mexico are also included. Once you've selected your park the hours will display as well as options for buying tickets and a list of rides in alphabetical order. You can also filter the rides by Thrill Level and Height Requirement. Any special events are listed such as Season Pass ERT events and other events like the Coaster Challenge at Six Flags Great America. Most of the parks events looked like this, easy to see what they are, the dates and whether you want to take the chance of a park full of cheerleaders. =) So that's about it for our review of the new app. Overall we think the App is a great improvement over any of the 3rd party apps out there. The ability to have your pass in your phone alleviates the need for an "oh crap" pass since most of us grab our phones before anything else prior to leaving the house. Obviously the one thing missing from the app ... ride wait times. This is probably the #1 ask for all of these apps and probably the hardest thing for most parks to implement. Hopefully an easy solution will come one of these days. Maybe scanning your phone at the entrance and exit while using the app? Of course, most people won't remember to do the 2nd scan. Have you downloaded the app yet? Let us know what you think. And Apple users, let us know if there are any differences on that app. We're interested to know. |
