Last weekend was also the kick-off of Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain, which happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the year. We also managed to get some construction pics of West Coast Racers and take a ride on the newly reopened Apocalypse. Let's head in for some fun. Written by Gregg Condon Demon's Door, where you can get your mazes passes as well. I think we saw more maze purchase locations this year than any other year, which is a good thing. Some West Coast Racers pics and video, the track looks to be mostly done, the station is getting some work and the buildings are getting some nice paint. Hopefully testing will be starting soon. This video also features some of the updated queue for Apocalypse. New fence, no lookie for you!! The Preview Center was also closed Sadly we didn't know at this time that Apocalypse was open otherwise we would have gotten some pics and video from the other side. Next time!! Oh, and I know that some people thought we didn't know what we were talking about a few weeks back when we said deconstruction of Green Lantern would begin soon ... This sign has been up here for awhile, but it's funny now. =) The park set up a nice media reception with snacks, drinks and more. Time to get unleashed It was CROWDED!! The coffin challenge was still going strong, despite the heat Nap time Apocalypse was back open, it wasn't "2009 good", but it was really good and a definite improvement. The queue got some nice new upgrades Aftermath 2 was back, I actually got taken on a different path than I've been on before (as you'll see in the video) Willoughby's is also back, with a couple of new effects One of our favorite scare zones at any park. One tip for visitors: Please don't turn on your phone flashlights in scarezones, especially THIS scare zone. You're ruining it. CondAmned was back with a slightly different name change. Sadly towards 10pm I wasn't feeling all that great due to the heat so I ducked out before I got to experience all that the event had to offer. I don't deal well with that kind of heat. So we will be back, and soon to finish our Fright Fest experience. We hope you enjoyed this first look. Be sure to head out to the event, you can find all of the info here. Related Videos:

Before a very busy few weeks we decided to make one last trek up to Six Flags Magic Mountain to check out West Coast Racers progress. Below we have pics and video of the rides progress as well as some Fright Fest prep, which begins in less than a month if you can believe it!! Written by Gregg Condon Below is a video update if you'd rather get your info that way, otherwise, scroll down for some pics!! Definitely some more track added since our tour High Five!! No station yet Twisty A piece of track is ready for it's new home Through the trees This is where it goes backwards (j/k, j/k) Crane is ready to load more track Looks like the spaghetti bowl may be the last part of track to finish, obviously we can't see behind Apocalypse We obviously have no idea when the ride is going to open. We were hoping by the beginning of Fright Fest, that's not going to happen as that's in less than a month. Obligatory coaster shot for this update Some new merch, or at least new to us Really dig these!! Was going to buy one of these on my way out, but they only had one register open ... in the largest store in the park, and I didn't want to wait. Fright Fest dates!! Fright Fest starts on September 14th and runs all the way through November 3rd!! AND Fright Fest is open on Halloween. Not sure why the change this year as the park hasn't been open for Fright Fest on Halloween the past few years, but we definitely welcome the change! Nice and shiny Nightmares is coming back!! Hopefully our friend Lorraine-Lurane will be back!! Magic Mushroom!! Murderous Mushroom!! Sewer of Souls will be back as well!! This was our favorite maze from Fright Fest last year so we are glad it will be back. Didn't notice this thing last year, will have to look back on pics to see if it was there. Either way, it's kind of sewer'y. Terrortory Twisted is going to be back as well (sorry in advance, didn't realize the lens had a spot towards the end of our visit) It definitely seems like there are more "guts" this year. But probably not. Lol. Alright, there's our update. Hope you enjoyed. We most likely will not be back at the park until Fright Fest opening weekend. Be sure to follow along our social media the next few weeks, lots going on including Six Flags 2020 announcements on August 29th. Related Videos:

Hey everybody!! It's mid-July and we're finally getting a behind the scenes tour of West Coast Racers at Six Flags Magic Mountain!! Despite some delays in the ride we think that this update may shed some light on just why the process is taking longer than many of us would have liked. It definitely made sense to us!! Let's head in! Written by Gregg Condon We're all checked in and ready to go!!! All official and stuff. If you like your updates in video form, here ya go. It's pretty long. Shorter versions of the video are at the bottom of the update. They are broken down into a ride overview, a look at the Spaghetti Bowl Element and the Launch and Station. Jet Stream is closed while they upgrade the power in the area. Yeah, the entire area is getting new power. Jet Stream will be back open on Monday, with super power. Or something like that. Up until now, this is as far as we could see. But today we get to go beyond the wall. Pictures don't do the spaghetti bowl or it's supports justice. It's so twisty. Into the station/second (well 3rd) launch. Nerd shot More twistyness Neal and Tim were our hosts for the afternoon Station goes here The view from inside The Underground Have to be honest, given that it's been 11 months since the ride was announced, kind of forgot this was a part of the ride But it looks cool!! The support structure for this thing is INSANE!! Oh yeah, the re-track for Apocalypse is done. They are already testing it. And it's supposedly running great. Can't wait!! Launchy Launches Stuff goes here, twisty stuff Oooooh, Aaaaah I touched the butt, err, track!! New Facebook cover photo (watch) High Five!! Nerdy stuff For all you coaster electronic nerds (you know who you are) The candy store is gutted, it will be back (a little nod to the past name of the ride that's behind this) The highest of fives!! Oh yeah, so a bit more on Apocalypse. The themeing and pre-show isn't really changing although apparently the entertainment department is working on a couple of things. If we had to guess it's the queue video. More nerd shots Launchy, Launch, Launch Hey Ninja!! Ok, so look at this. LOOK AT IT I TELL YOU!! This thing is insane looking. So apparently, due to the complexity of this thing they put it together in China (where it was manufactured) to make sure it all fit together. And then took it apart and shipped it here. It's seriously like a maze in there I mean ... And one last nerd shot Ok, so we already know the question. WHEN IS IT GOING TO OPEN!! That was actually the first question that was asked during the tour. Right now, we just don't know. But it WILL be in 2019. I know we've been kind of harsh in previous updates about the delays and I hope this doesn't sound like we're now "towing the company line", because we aren't. But ... A few things to consider
So we know it's hard, but be patient. It is going to happen, it won't be 2020. And when it does happen, it's going to be SO worth it. The ride is looking all kinds of amazing. It's going to be super fun. Thanks for following along!! Shorter versions of the update video are below. Related Videos:
