Today we have another update from Universal Studios Hollywood as we take a look at all that is going on around the park. And there is a lot. From new eateries in CityWalk, the new for 2020 attraction getting very close to being completed and of course the still officially unannounced Super Nintendo World. Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to CityWalk where the Hard Rock Cafe is no more. Soon to be replaced presumably by Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. Is this a candy store, clothing store? Never have been able to figure it out. =) NBC Sports Grill will be opening before Toothsome. Hey Harry!! We headed to the Studio Tour for some fun and a couple of pics of Super Nintendo World Lots of work going on No evident track, etc within the buildings. But they definitely aren't messing around. From the other side. We obviously don't know for sure, but would imagine the building with the store/restrooms, panda express and food location will be removed to make room for Super Nintendo Land. Can't imagine the only entrance being near Transformers. And maybe even the backside of Jurassic Cafe, which I believe is a security office right now. An overview of the entire lower lot. I know it may look like Mummy is larger than Super Nintendo World from this angle, but it's not. And obviously we still don't know how much higher they are going here since we don't have official artwork for this park yet. There's an entire section that isn't too vertical at this point. On the upper lot, Secret Life of Pets is getting close to opening. No official date yet, but can imagine it will be soon. The outside facade looks great. Of course, we're not sure what the pets will think of their new neighbors. =) Great use of forced perspective here. What we assume will be the rides entrance. Road signs in case you get lost. Coming Soon!! We'll have some more info about the attraction soon. Stay tuned!! Thanks for checking out the update and of course, as always, the support of the site. Happy Thursday everybody and welcome to what will probably be our last Universal Studios Hollywood update of the decade. Last weekend we were invited out to the park to check out Grinchmas, Christmas in the Wizarding World and all of the amazing Holiday fun. In addition we took a look at the current construction projects around the park. Let's check it out!! Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to the Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood! Looks like King Kong got mad at It's Sugar (the store is getting some work done) It was a gorgeous day to be out at the park Highlight video of Grinchmas 2019 We love little out of the way touches, the record studio outside of Mel's had a great Christmas album display Merry Grinchmas The real clouds look almost fake here All the different things you can do at Grinchmas Our advise, do the Wholiday Tree Lighting later in the evening We met the mayor who wished us a happy Anniversary (our 24th was the day after our visit ... yes, we were VERY young when we got married, well, 20) We decided to meet Max too!! He's so awesome! We love the look of this area at night The lit up Wholiday tree We also took some pics/video of Secret Life of Pets progress We can't wait to try this out next year And also a Super Nintendo Land update video. This was taken from the Studio Tour so it's kind of bumpy. Our apologies. Lastly, we enjoyed a nice evening in Hogwarts and celebrated the Holidays there. We had dessert out on the patio, enjoying some hot butterbeer and waiting for the crowds to die down a bit for the Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle (you can see it from here too). The shows they do here are truly magical, we love them. Thanks for the amazing night Universal Hollywood!! We'll see you in the new year! It's been a few weeks since our last Universal Studios Hollywood update, and if the progress of work going on around the park is any indication, we're going to have to start doing more of them. The park is starting to remind us of 2015 when the entire upper lot was being worked on for Springfield and Wizarding World. But this time there are three major projects happening on the upper and lower lot. Let's take a look!! Written by Gregg Condon Our first stop most days is of course Wizarding World. We got into the park right at opening and had about a 15 minute wait for Forbidden Journey. Usually we just do single rider, but sometimes we go for the full experience. It was a perfect day at the park, didn't get too busy until about 1 or 2 (as we were leaving). We of course had to get some Butterbeer. What's your favorite kind? Most of the people in our group hadn't done Kung Fu Panda yet, so we had to give that a visit. Really enjoy it. Now that Lunar New Year is over they are doing some work in Universal Plaza. Not sure if it's just general refurbishment or if they're doing something for the next event. Let's first take a look at "Unannounced Project #1" (or is this Unannounced Project #2). We have a hard time keeping track. =) The pictures seen from the upper lot don't do the size of this area justice. But on the lower lot, you can get a feel for just how big this addition is. There is actually more room here than you might think. A crane on-site can only mean one thing ... vertical construction. As you can see they are starting to go down before they go up. One of the walls is already taller than the tram. Jurassic World is really starting to take shape, you can see the T-Rex on the outside very clearly now. The most interesting thing though is this new build down near the former maintenance pool. Not sure if this is an extension of the ride or they're just re-doing this part of the backstage area. But as you can see, there is a LOT going on in this area. Further on the tour, Jaws is getting some love. Back on the upper lot, "Unannounced Project #2" is getting bigger with each visit. Alright all, that's gonna wrap it up for this update. As you can see, many new exciting things are coming to the park. They didn't move all those soundstages for nothing. As for when these projects will be "officially" announced, your guess is as good as ours. They just officially announced the new coaster in Florida, and that opens in less than 4 months. So even though we all pretty much know what the construction is for, we think it's more fun to keep calling them "Unannounced #1 and Unannounced #2" for the time being. Kind of like Thing 1 and Thing 2. =) Related Videos:
