Jersey Devil Coaster Will Shatter Three World Records in 2020 at Six Flags Great Adventure8/29/2019
JACKSON, N.J. ─ August 29, 2019 ─ On the edge of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, Six Flags Great Adventure, the World’s Ultimate Thrill Park, today announced that a menacing coaster of legendary proportions—the tallest, fastest and longest single rail coaster--Jersey Devil Coaster, will make its world debut in 2020. Towering 13 stories, at speeds up to 58 mph, riders will soar single file through the dark and foreboding woods over 3,000 feet of track. Inspired by infamous New Jersey mythology, the cutting-edge coaster will feature five intense elements including two dramatic inversions.
Legend says the Jersey Devil has haunted the Pine Barrens for centuries, soaring stealthily through the woods in the dark of night before attacking its prey. Modern-day folklore even places this beast near the theme park’s Great Lake, with its menacing, curled horns manifesting under a full moon.
“Six Flags Great Adventure is home to the best and most innovative roller coasters on the planet, and we are thrilled to expand our unrivaled collection with the Jersey Devil Coaster,” said Park President John Winkler. “Jersey Devil folklore has been a source of fear and intrigue here in the Pine Barrens for more than 200 years, and this iconic piece of New Jersey history inspired the design for this monstrous scream machine.”

Before a very busy few weeks we decided to make one last trek up to Six Flags Magic Mountain to check out West Coast Racers progress. Below we have pics and video of the rides progress as well as some Fright Fest prep, which begins in less than a month if you can believe it!! Written by Gregg Condon Below is a video update if you'd rather get your info that way, otherwise, scroll down for some pics!! Definitely some more track added since our tour High Five!! No station yet Twisty A piece of track is ready for it's new home Through the trees This is where it goes backwards (j/k, j/k) Crane is ready to load more track Looks like the spaghetti bowl may be the last part of track to finish, obviously we can't see behind Apocalypse We obviously have no idea when the ride is going to open. We were hoping by the beginning of Fright Fest, that's not going to happen as that's in less than a month. Obligatory coaster shot for this update Some new merch, or at least new to us Really dig these!! Was going to buy one of these on my way out, but they only had one register open ... in the largest store in the park, and I didn't want to wait. Fright Fest dates!! Fright Fest starts on September 14th and runs all the way through November 3rd!! AND Fright Fest is open on Halloween. Not sure why the change this year as the park hasn't been open for Fright Fest on Halloween the past few years, but we definitely welcome the change! Nice and shiny Nightmares is coming back!! Hopefully our friend Lorraine-Lurane will be back!! Magic Mushroom!! Murderous Mushroom!! Sewer of Souls will be back as well!! This was our favorite maze from Fright Fest last year so we are glad it will be back. Didn't notice this thing last year, will have to look back on pics to see if it was there. Either way, it's kind of sewer'y. Terrortory Twisted is going to be back as well (sorry in advance, didn't realize the lens had a spot towards the end of our visit) It definitely seems like there are more "guts" this year. But probably not. Lol. Alright, there's our update. Hope you enjoyed. We most likely will not be back at the park until Fright Fest opening weekend. Be sure to follow along our social media the next few weeks, lots going on including Six Flags 2020 announcements on August 29th. Related Videos:
