    LONG BEACH, Calif. (July 25, 2023) – The Halloween season officially gets underway this weekend as Midsummer Scream comes to the Long Beach Convention Center — the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention that this year offers a massive array of entertainment options.

    At the core of Midsummer Scream is the Hall of Shadows, an incredible experience that brings together local and regional creators of some of the best haunted attractions in the world, giving Midsummer Scream guests an thrillingly, chillingly immersive experience unlike any other.

    This year, Midsummer Scream also goes behind the scenes of some of the most iconic names in horror with unique panels that explore the creation of Disney’s Haunted Mansion film, and the origins, future and legacy of Lionsgate’s Saw films.
    Moreover, Lionsgate will present a Saw experience on the Midsummer Scream show floor — and guests will also scream along with The Boogeyman, which will offer a special Midsummer Scream experience.

    Halloween fans eager for this season’s biggest haunts will learn what’s in store through special presentations and panels from Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest, and Thirteenth Floor Entertainment.

    A curated short-film festival of terror is also available in The Screaming Room, presented by HorrorBuzz, while the Black Cat Lounge offers a feline-focused way to take a break from the action with adorable cats and kittens available for adoption.

    “This sixth year for Midsummer Scream is truly the best yet, as we showcase the full range of Halloween and horror—from the big screen to local haunts to the best of horror-themed games of all sort,” said David Markland, co-founder and executive irector of Midsummer Scream. “There is going to be something to do literally every minute from the moment we open our doos at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 28.”

    Some highlights of the schedule are included below, including presentations taking place in the Grand Ballroom presented by the Halloween Shirt Company. But remember—it’s only a sampling of what’s in store at Midsummer Scream!
    ALL THREE DAYS
      • The Boogeyman Experience — Exclusively at Midsummer Scream, fans will immerse themselves in the world of The Boogeyman as they try to avoid the terrifying supernatural entity and escape with their lives. The first 50 brave attendees to walk through the experience each day will receive a limited-edition Boogeyman poster.
      • Saw Experience — Midsummer Scream guests can explore the horrific, unnerving and unforgettable world of Saw in a special experience open all three days of the event.
      • The Haunted Hearse — A fully immersive horror adventure for cellphones that seamlessly combines craft, fiber arts, analog/virtual technologies, and live performance to deliver a spooky art experience like no other.

    FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ONLY
    • Exorcistic: The Live Musical — A “blasphemous” rock musical parody that breaks the fourth wall and engages the audience, and features book, lyrics and music by two-time Ovation Award winner Michael Shaw Fisher. (8 p.m. – 10 p.m. on the Promenade Stage, plays all three evenings; note: 18+ only)

    • Urban Death — The disturbed spirts and unfathomable monstrosities of Zombie Joe’s Underground’s cult-hit tableaux of madness, mayhem and diabolical horror await in their fun ‘n’ freaky performance. Note: Ages 16+. (7:20 p.m., Room 103BC)
    • ‘Creepy’ Live Podcast — The Bloody Disgusting podcast from creator John Grilz goes live at Midsummer Scream, exploring the most famous and disturbing creepypastas and urban legends in the world. (7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Podcast Lounge)

    SATURDAY, JULY 29

    • Anaheim Halloween 100th Anniversary — See that’s in store for the centennial anniversary of the city of Anaheim’s Halloween Parade. (12 p.m., Promenade Stage.
    • Thirteenth Floor Presentation — A preview of what haunt and Halloween fans have in store from some of the 13th Floor’s haunted attractions: LA Haunted Hayride, Delusion and Shaqtoberfest (12:30 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • Return of the Living Drag — The frightening flock of fabulous performers led by horror icon Peaches Christ returns to slay you with a deadly dose of horror drag. (2 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • Hot Haunts for 2023 — Midsummer Scream’s Rick West leads his annual discussion about the upcoming Halloween season with some of the community’s most talented and passionate haunters (2:30 p.m., Promenade Stage)
    • ‘Saw X’ Presentation — An exploration of the past, future and legacy of Saw. Presented by Lionsgate. (3:30 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • ‘Lost Boys’ & Vamp — The Lost Boys stars Jason Patric, Billy Wirth and Jamison Newlander join Vamp for a live recording of “Let’s Get Spooky” (4:30 p.m., Promenade Stage)
    • Knott’s Scary Farm’s 50th — Speakers include Knott’s Scary Farm historian and show writer Ted Dougherty, attraction designer Jon Cooke, and Ken Parks, corporate director of creative development, Cedar Fair. (5 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • Slumber Party: Midsummer Scream After Dark — An incredible after-hours party filled with games, contests, screenings, music, dancing and much more. Included with Gold Bat VIP admission; while supplies last, tickets may be purchased separately online or through the Midsummer Scream app.

    • Winchester Mystery House 100th Anniversary — One of the world’s most haunted places celebrates its 100th anniversary. Walter Magnuson, executive director, will lead an exploration of the Winchester House’s centennial milestone. (12 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • Happy Haunts Materialize! Behind the Scenes of Disney’s Haunted Mansion — This special apparition from regions beyond by The Walt Disney Studios will include Jonathan Eirich, producer, and Phillip Bartell, editor, hosted by Lauren and Trevor Shand and Leone D’Antonio from The Boo Crew Podcast. (1:30 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest — Sharing nightmarish plans for the upcoming 30th anniversary season of Fright Fest. Sit down and hold on tight: It’s going to be a wild ride! (2:30 p.m., Promenade Stage)
    • The Boulet Brothers and the Supermonsters of Dragula! — For the first time on stage, The Boulet Brothers, hosts and creators of Shudder and AMC’s hit drag/horror reality competition show “The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula,” moderate a panel featuring several of the show’s winners together on stage. (3 p.m., Grand Ballroom)
    • Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights — Get a look behind the screams of Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights when Creative Director/Executive Producer John Murdy returns to Midsummer Scream to share the creative process of bringing your darkest nightmares to life. (4:30 p.m., Grand Ballroom)

    Now in its sixth year, the annual MIDSUMMER SCREAM hosts more than 40,000 Halloween and Horror fans at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. Single-day passes range from $35 for adult admission to $140 for a three-day VIP “Gold Bat” pass. Children under 10 are free with an accompanying adult.     BUENA PARK, CA. – This year marks 50 years of never-ending nightmares at Knott's Scary Farm. The spine-tingling tradition is Southern California's longest-running and most haunting Halloween theme park event. Starting Monday, tickets go on sale for a frightful experience that has left no tomb unearthed, no crypt unrattled and no fear untouched. This year's lineup is a culmination of five decades of terror that no one will want to miss select nights from September 21 through October 31. For those counting, that's 29 fearful nights of horror. 
     
    This anniversary's lineup includes 10 frightening mazes, 5 sinister scare zones and 4 hair-raising shows. Guests can expect to uncover unforgettable experiences that will usher in characters from Haunt history.     Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights Expand Offerings in 2023

    (Hershey, Pa. - July 24, 2023) - Hersheypark amusement park today announced the expansion of its Hersheypark Halloween seasonal event and Dark Nights immersive haunt experience with more days and hours, a new fifth haunted house, enhanced scares and exclusive food over seven weekends from Sept. 15 through Oct. 29, 2023. 

    New this season, every Hersheypark Halloween ticket now includes entrance to all five Dark Nights haunted houses and three Scare Zones featuring all-new and evolved stories, as well as 50 family-friendly attractions and thrilling coasters, with lights-out rides on the new Wildcat’s Revenge hybrid and other select coasters. More than 55 limited-time cocktails, treats and savory eats exclusive to Halloween will be offered during the seasonal event.

    To celebrate the announcement, Hersheypark has turned National Ice Cream Day into a dark and twisted week-long celebration of all things sweet and scary from July 24-30, 2023. Hersheypark’s I Scream Week features a taste of Dark Nights with ghoulish foods, frightening lights-out rides, limited-time retail and a photo opportunity with a scare actor.     Dark Nights 
    The nightmare continues for Dark Nights in its second year, as darkness is sweeping over Hersheypark with new, blood-curdling frights lurking about. The terrifying tales guests thought they knew are turning the page begin nightly at 6 p.m.
    • Auntie Mortem’s Abattoir (ALL-NEW FOR 2023) - Ethel Mortem, known as Auntie to the community, is a second-generation meat processor running the family business with the help of her sinister nieces and nephews. Trucks keep coming to feed the machine, but the bones tell a more sinister story. Farm to table has never been more gruesome when Auntie is planning the menu.
    • Haunted Coal Mine: Curse Of The Tommyknockers - It's not only the past miners that haunt these shafts but the evil Tommyknockers who must protect their gold by any means necessary. You escaped their mines once before, but will you be so lucky this time? The fear doesn’t come from where you’re trapped but who you’re trapped with.
    • Creatures Uncaged - Professor Darkstone’s prized possessions now run the show. Retrace your steps through their lair but beware, more creatures are lurking in the shadows, and they are hungry for a new audience.
    • The Descent: Catacombs Of Decay - The tunnels she once prowled are now hers to dwell in forever. Venture into the catacombs of decay to reveal what secrets remain buried in her past, present and future. But, be careful that you don't become part of her collection.
    • Twisted Carnevil - The darkness of the tent was truly a never-ending carnevil of nightmares. The nightmare continues with venomous twists and turns that will hypnotize some and paralyze others.
    Also part of Dark Nights, midways will transform into three Scare Zones each evening.
    • Fallout Zone (ALL-NEW FOR 2023) - Rogue radioactive material has begun to emit an eerie green fog. Crews are scrubbing the midway to isolate, contain, and neutralize any threats. You may avoid the fallout, but can you escape the madness from those within? 
    • Midway Of Misery - Misery loves company…the Decayed Brigade welcomes new sliders from the underworld with more corners to lurk in and ground to cover. Beware to those who flock to the flames: you never know who (or what) is waiting beyond the arch.
    • Darkstone’s Hollow - Ousted from his own show, Darkstone is now caged for all to see and the showmen that hawked his traveling mythical collection now frantically seek shelter from the creatures that have claimed The Hollow as their own.
    Hersheypark Halloween
    Families can experience Hersheypark Halloween like never before as they play by day and fright by night, with thrills on 50 rides and attractions (weather and maintenance permitting), lights-out rides on select coasters, trick-or-treating, Hershey Characters glow dance parties and the original Creatures Of The Night flashlight tour at ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park. 
    • Lights-Out Coaster Rides - Coaster fans will feel the rush on thrilling coasters, including the all-new hybrid Wildcat’s Revenge with one-of-a-kind inversions. During the last hour of operation, the lights will go dark for rides on some favorites, like Candymonium, Comet and Lightning Racer. Plus, Laff Trakk will be lights-out all day long.
    • Hershey’s Trick-Or-Treat Trail - Children 12 and younger will be delighted by 13 sweet stops from Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction to Treatville trick-or-treat trail at The Boardwalk At Hersheypark area, where they will find their favorite Halloween candy, plus festive decorations and autumn surprises each operating evening until 8 p.m.
    • Hershey Characters Glow Dance Party - Guests can dance along with various Hershey Characters for several performances. The Characters are all dressed up in their trick-or-treating finest, partying to the season’s classics inside Music Box Theatre. 
    • Creatures Of The Night Attraction - Starting Oct. 13, ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is getting in on the action, with a special nighttime flashlight tour included in the one-price admission to Hersheypark Halloween when accessing the Zoo from the bridge inside Hersheypark during posted Park hours. Guests can see the wild and fascinating animal activity that only happens after the sun sets.​
    All-New Dining Experiences and Retail Offering
    Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights will feature an elevated food and beverage scene with more than 55 scary good eats and spell-binding drinks. 

    Guests can get a taste of some of the frightfully delicious food offerings available during Dark Nights with the Dark Nights Tasting Pass. The Pass includes a choice of up to five specialty menu items from more than 35 food and beverage options at more than 15 locations throughout the Park, such as Toxic Mac & Cheese, Pulled Pork Sliders, Blood Orange Lemonade, Black Velvet Cake and more. 

    Hersheypark is also rolling out the dead carpet with the RIP Dinner Buffet at Great Scare Catering. The dreadfully delicious dinner buffet includes eerie entrées, desserts to die for and more, while some of the monsters lurk about. RIP Dinner Buffet guests will also receive a Single-Use Fast Track accepted at any of the five Dark Nights haunted houses and a Buy One Get One Hyperdeck Coupon, valid on the new Zombie-themed virtual reality game.

    Located in Hershey’s Chocolatetown region, The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio will offer Spirit’s Rooftop Bar, a rooftop rendezvous available during all Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights operating days starting at 5 p.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays exclusive to guests at Hersheypark. Guests who dare to explore the haunted rooftop bar will find spirits both real and imagined - from fiery cocktails and octopus-inspired Bloody Marys to absinthe creations and libations that literally pop tableside.

    Guests can also take home a piece of Dark Nights with event-exclusive branded merchandise available at Dark Nights Emporium, Halloween BOOtique and Hersheypark Supply Co.

    Ticketing Information
    New this year, Dark Nights is included with admission to Hersheypark Halloween. Tickets for the seasonal event are on sale now, with various ticket options available. Guests can save up to 40 percent on dated one-day tickets by selecting the date of their visit, with Hersheypark Halloween tickets starting at $49.99 plus taxes and fees.

    Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld San Diego is remerging for a third year offering guests a frightful and spine-tingling Halloween nighttime event. Intended for a mature audience and returning on Friday, September 29 through October 31, Howl-O-Scream will reawaken this fall with screams, suspense, and surprises, and guests can plan ahead and prepare themselves for spine-chilling scares with a Sinister Sale from July 19 to July 30.
     
    Guests can purchase Howl-O-Scream single night tickets and unlimited admission tickets up to 60% off.  Single day tickets will start at $33.99 and for $104.99 guests can test themselves with unlimited scares and unlimited admission tickets for the event.
     
    Scaring guests for the third year in a row, the event includes haunted houses, themed scare zones, roaming hordes and more. Thrill-seekers can scream with delight on riding coasters in the dark, quench their thirst for fear at multiple interactive bars, and be entertained by live thrilling music and more! 
     
    Howl-O-Scream is a separately ticketed event and tickets purchased during the one-day sale can be used on any event night from September 29 to October 31. Drop-dead prices this low won’t last long – the deal expires at 11:59 P.M. on Sunday, July 30.
