Universal Studios Hollywood Update - HHN, Universal Plaza and More - May 22, 2023

Happy Monday everybody, hope you had a great weekend. It was mostly a quiet weekend here except for a quick visit to a couple of parks on Friday! First up we've got an update from Universal Studios Hollywood and a look at Halloween Horror Nights prep! Also some updates on a couple of projects around the park! Let's head in!
    Picture

It was a gloomy morning at the park, we are definitely in our "May Grey" period.

    Picture

They've finished work on the Universal Plaza where they have completely removed the water fountains and have done some nice brick work around the plaza.

    Picture

It looks like they may have a bit more work to do on the walls around the outside, but it looks really great! There's also a couple of ODV carts that are usually here that aren't back yet.

    Picture

I'm guessing they wanted to get the plaza open to show off some of these Fast and Furious cars since FastX hit theaters over the weekend.

    Picture

El Camino with some cannons or something?

    Picture

    Ford Fairlane

    Picture

Datsun 240z - I think this is my favorite one

    Picture

Construction on the upper lot HHN House is moving along quite nicely.

    Picture

No idea what this house is, but there have been rumors of a Universal Monsters Paris house, that would certainly seem to fit this area of the park.

    Picture
    Picture

Walls are now up around the Animal Actors and Special Effects stages for the rumored Fast and Furious coaster.

    Picture
    Picture

As of now, Production Central is still open.

    Picture
    Picture
    Picture

Work extends to the exit area and you can see some workers up on the roof there. Still not sure the park needs to attempt a 3rd Fast and Furious attraction, would rather see the coaster be Back to the Future or even Bourne.

    Picture

Moving down towards the lower lot, the backlot house is progressing nicely.

    Picture

I didn't do the studio tour, but it doesn't look like any thematic elements have been added yet.

    Picture

You can see the façade to the right, looks like a window and doorway. This was the entrance for the Killer Clowns house last year, so that seems to be the entrance for this years house.

    Picture

The house behind Mummy is also under construction. This was the entrance last year, not sure if that will be the case this year. We'll have to see once a façade goes up on either side of the house.

    Picture
    Picture

I did give Simpsons my once-a-year courtesy ride. And that's really all I have to say about that. =)

    Picture

I did take some pics in the pre-show.

    Picture
    Picture

Wouldn't surprise me at all if this is the next attraction that is replaced at the park. Both because of Disney owning The Simpsons now, but also because this ride system is now almost 30 years old. And it shows.

    Picture

No indication of any HHN progress near Waterworld. Looking back on last years update, the first pics we have of progress here was our June update.

    Picture

Of course it's possible there will not be a house here this year.

    Picture

The park has some Pride merchandise, and until August 100% of the profits will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

    Picture
    Picture
    Picture

Out in CityWalk, walls are around the formers Starbucks and Blaze Pizza. Will be interesting to see what this ends up being.

Wildcat’s Revenge Hybrid Coaster to Open June 2 at Hersheypark

Wood and Steel Coaster Features Four Inversions With World’s Largest Underflip
(Hershey, Pa. – May 19, 2023) – Hersheypark amusement park today announced that Wildcat’s Revenge hybrid coaster will open to the public on June 2, 2023, as part of a historic summer in The Sweetest Place On The Earth. The wood and steel hybrid will be the first at Hersheypark as part of an impressive 15-coaster collection. With the debut of Wildcat’s Revenge, Pennsylvania’s largest amusement park is now home to the most coasters in the Northeast.

Hersheypark will be open daily starting Thursday, May 25, with the 11-acre Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park opening Saturday, May 27. Hersheypark summer tickets include three parks in one featuring 70 rides and thrilling coasters, a full water park and a zoo, with summer getaways and entertainment throughout the destination. For hours and tickets, please visit www.Hersheypark.com.

    Unique Hybrid Coaster Experience
The first hybrid manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) in Pennsylvania, Wildcat’s Revenge adds an all-new steel track with unique elements to the wooden framework for a one-of-a-kind thrilling ride experience found only at Hersheypark. The debut of Wildcat’s Revenge comes 100 years after the first Wild Cat ride opened at the Park, the first coaster purchased by founder Milton S. Hershey.

The 2-minute and 36-second experience begins as riders climb a 140-foot hill, plunge into an 82-degree drop and hit a maximum speed of 62 miles per hour along 3,510 feet of red track on a black steel and wood structure. The pursuit continues as riders stalk their prey through four inversions, including the World’s Largest Underflip, an inversion that begins with an upward climb, followed by a counterclockwise 270° roll and a dive down towards the side.

Located in the Midway America region of Hersheypark, Wildcat's Revenge features a fully renovated coaster station with a design that harkens back to the iconic 1923 Wild Cat station, with low-pitched gables around the roof's perimeter. Guests of Hershey’s height requirement and taller (48 inches and above) will sit in one of three custom trains, showcasing fully-dimensional black, charcoal and silver wild cats exacting revenge on their wooden predecessor.
    Be The First To Ride
Hersheypark offers King Size, Full Size and Bite Size Season Pass options offering year-round Hersheypark Happy for the entire family. Guests who become a 2023 King Size Season Pass Holder will be one of the first to ride Wildcat’s Revenge, plus enjoy other popular benefits like unlimited visits, free tickets, a free souvenir cup, one-hour early access during the summer season and more. Details on registration for the First To Ride Event on May 29-31 are available at www.Hersheypark.com/tickets/season-passes.php

    Sweet and Savory Food Items
To celebrate the opening of the 15th coaster at Hersheypark, several culinary items themed to Wildcat’s Revenge will debut across the Park and Hershey’s Chocolatetown starting Memorial Day Weekend. The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio will introduce a new cocktail, mocktail and dessert sundae, all themed to the ride. In addition to the Wildcat’s Revenge King Size Shake and Coaster Dog added during Spring Weekends, Hersheypark will debut a new sundae, ice cream flavor and waffle cone at Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, signature fudge at The Sweeterie Confectionery Kitchen and an exclusive in-park only alcoholic beverage.
