    Disneyland Photo Update - March 16, 2026

    Last Friday I did a "Nerd Disneyland Photo Day" in the parks so that means for the first time in a LONG time, we have a Disneyland photo update for you. In fact, I'd say in the 13 years we've had this site we've probably only done 10 or 20 Disneyland updates. We typically leave those to the other sites that are there weekly. 

    ​But let's have some fun!

    They have repurposed the FastPass machine area near Guardians as an expanded seating area. This is very much needed. I still don't get why they haven't done this in the Hyperion Courtyard if they aren't going to use the theater.

    Grizzly River Run is still closed for it's refurbishment. It would have been nice to see it reopen this week for "OMG once in 100 year heat wave" (that happens every year in March).

    This exciting Japanese language short film will gather guests within DreamWorks Theatre to watch a subtitled version featuring heroine Super Sailor Moon as she battles an unforeseen enemy with sinister motives to acquire the Legendary Silver Crystal from Moon Palace’s enchanting ball. With her unwavering spirit, accompanied by audience support, Super Sailor Moon will prove good indeed prevails over evil as she outwits her rival and restores tranquility to the Moon Palace.
     
    Universal Fan Fest Nights is an after-hours, separately ticked event that celebrates the exhilarating world of fandom through immersive and interactive in-world experiences created by the theme park’s renowned and highly creative entertainment team in collaboration with esteemed industry experts. Featuring a spectrum of inspirational categories, Universal Fan Fest Nights will welcome guests to embrace a variety of eclectic worlds that celebrate and elevate fandom favorites alongside live entertainment, character interactions, cosplay, photo opportunities, curated food, beverages and merchandise (separate purchase required).
     
    Universal Fan Fest Nights will feature an array of exciting experiences and activations that will be included every event night for guests to enjoy.

    • Scooby-Doo Meets The Universal Monsters: Mystery on the Backlot. This all-new, immersive walk-through adventure is designed to give guests the sensation of stepping into a live-action mystery with the Scooby-Doo gang and the Universal Monsters. Guests will travel to the destination via Studio Tour tram where they have a chance to walk along a movie studio backlot with Scooby-Doo himself and his pals Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy. The exciting escapade will challenge them to solve a mystery involving the most legendary Universal Monsters in cinematic history, including Frankenstein, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein and Wolf Man, as they navigate portions of Universal’s world-famous outdoor film sets, from the cobblestone streets of Little Europe to the iconic Court of Miracles, the original filming locations for historic Universal horror films Frankenstein (1931) and The Wolf Man (1941).
    • ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Show. ONE PIECE returns to Universal Fan Fest Nights, but this time as a live show extravaganza at the WaterWorld show venue. Inspired by the success of the Universal Studios Japan production, ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Show will invite guests to a whirlwind performance featuring a cast of ONE PIECE fan-favorite characters. With action, comedy and chaos taking center stage, guests will be transported to the very heart of the world of ONE PIECE – enveloped in friendship, freedom and mayhem.
    • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Forbidden Forest: A Search for the Hippogriff. This new, unique, walk-through experience will take guests into the depths of the Forbidden Forest in search of a lost Hippogriff. With guidance from a Hogwarts Professor, they will encounter magical creatures and familiar beasts as they face a series of obstacles which will require the guests to summon their bravery and spell-casting skills to help a Hippogriff in need.
    • SUPER NINTENDO WORLD – Colorful Yoshi Celebration. This year’s Universal Fan Fest Nights introduces a vibrant, multi-colored Yoshi celebration in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. This all-new adventure will welcome guests to explore the land, where they will have a chance to meet new, colorful Yoshis who can be found throughout the Mushroom Kingdom.​
    • DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Secrets of Waterdeep. This fan-favorite immersive experience returns due to popular demand, along with some enhancements. Inspired by the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game™, DUNGEONS & DRAGONS (D&D), this epic walk-through experience will welcome guests and fans to partake in a one-of-a-kind adventure and explore the fantastic world of D&D. Guests will join the Harpers—a heroic spy network—to foil a plot by the legendary beholder Xanathar and save the city of Waterdeep.

    Northern California’s Home to Iconic Thrills Welcomes Guests Both Past and Present to Relive Fond Memories and Make New Ones
    SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Mar. 11, 2026) –– California’s Great America, Northern California’s Home to Iconic Thrills, officially opens its gates for the 2026 season on Saturday, March 28, marking 50 seasons of fun, memories and world-class entertainment. Since first welcoming guests in 1976, the park continues to showcase its five-decade history from the iconic double-decker Carousel Columbia to the first-of-its-kind, single-rail rollercoaster, RailBlazer, highlighting the evolution of the park from its “Marriott’s Great America” roots to the modern-day destination it is today.

    OPENING DAY AND 50TH SEASON HIGHLIGHTS:
    • Commemorative Button: Opening day will feature a special 50th season commemorative button pin for guests attending the park on March 28, while supplies last;
    • Opening Season Ceremony: A special ceremony will be held at the Carousel Columbia to officially open the 50th season to guests with the help of the Peanuts Gang;
    • Classic Great America Music: Original park music from its earliest years will make a triumphant return that is sure to evoke nostalgia for longtime fans;
    • South Bay Shores Opens for the Season: Included with admission, the connected California seaside themed waterpark with a variety of drop slides, tube slides and family-friendly lagoon area, will open for the season May 23;

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. – March 10, 2026 – Carowinds returns March 14, welcoming guests back for a season of family-friendly fun, world-class attractions and a newly expanded lineup of special events that stretch from spring to winter. From new festivals to recharged fan favorites, the 2026 season represents one of the park’s most diverse event offerings to date.
     
    “Our special events continue to grow in popularity, because they create so much value for our guests,” said Brian Oerding, park manager at Carowinds. “Guests want more opportunities to visit throughout the year, more reasons to return, and this year’s lineup is a direct result of that feedback.     During its Spring Break celebration, Carowinds introduces Scream Break, giving guests the opportunity to experience the park’s newest haunted attraction, The Conjuring: Beyond Fear.* This interactive SCREAMium experience invites guests to navigate iconic scenes from the Warner Bros. blockbuster horror franchise as they work to lock away cursed artifacts before supernatural chaos is unleased. This summer, the park debuts SPLASH! Water Parade, an elaborate interactive water parade, and Bands in Residence, an exciting, local music series.
