Any VIP party has to have a great band!! 

The new area is amazing looking. 

Lots of great underwater viewing windows. 

Hanging out with birds and drummers

And of course, no event is complete without lots and lots of food. 

But the star of the show was definitely Discovery Point

A bit more information on the new area: 

There is a kiosk where you can plan to have a day discovering dolphins and beluga whales and I believe sea lions up close and personal.

It is better to book ahead because they are pretty booked up.

The area where they have the dolphins is great although  you aren't allowed to touch them which is great for the dolphins. The viewing area below more than makes up for it.

The staff were of course super helpful.

Before we get started, your reminder to get your tickets for Mountain Madness 2.0 that's coming up on June 5. 

JUST ADDED!!! Get a FREE reverse POV on The New Revolution during morning ERT.

We're going to start off with Tidal Wave, which is still not open. Sadly the more we look at this ride the more we fear for it's fate. 

For a park that consistently sees many 100 degree days during the summer the more water rides the better. Two water rides is simply not enough for this park. 

Looking inside the station, it kind of appears that the queue line has been taken out, let's hope not though. 

Moving over to where we assume the new ride(s) are going you can see a lot of space here, more than what they need for what is rumored to go here. Which could make for a very interesting 2017. 

As you can see, large green fences now surround the entire area. 

But if you know where to go you can still see in. 

Once construction starts it's going to be pretty obvious what's coming. 

The only question is, will it be obvious before the new ride announcements are made in late August/early September. 

Moving on, it appears a couple of the Jet Stream boats got some TLC. Unfortunately we didn't get to ride as the ride is STILL opening up at least an hour after the park on a daily basis. Along with Roaring Rapids. 

But as you can see, the "refurb" appears to be entirely cosmetic. 

Moving over to Ninja, more trees have been trimmed. Not sure if this is because they were going bad or for something else, but it's very open back here now. 

She does look beautiful. 

If you were following along on our social media during our visit you'll know we were posting pictures about a nearly empty park.

Every ride was pretty much a walk-on. 

You know the park isn't very busy when even Tatsu's line is this short. 

One ride that didn't have a short line was The New Revolution. 

From what we could tell this wasn't just an issue of the VR, although it didn't help. Because people are concentrating so much on the VR and getting their headsets done they are forgetting the most basic of amusement park rules regarding loose articles. etc. So it's kind of a perfect storm of crap. 

It's going to be interesting to see if the slower operations impact the life of the VR portion of the ride. 

Tip: But ... if you want to use the Single Rider line and be split up, it's still available. 

Also, if you don't care about doing the VR remember that the front row is a non-VR row so by using the single rider line you will pretty much be instantly placed in the front row of the ride. 

Also also, remember, during ERT of Mountain Madness 2.0 you won't have any of these line issues. =) 

If you can get up to the park during the week over the next couple of weeks you're pretty much guaranteed to have light crowds ... but don't blame us if some random school group shows up. ;) 

Grad Night's are coming ... 

Allegra isn't my allergy medicine, but I'd probably switch after seeing these ad's. 

Lastly, the new slides for Hurricane Harbor are still sitting in front of Colossus. 

Considering the waterpark opens next week not sure if these new slides will be open with the park. But they shouldn't take long to install.

​What's going to be the first thing you try?

Below we've got our review of Civil War (No Spoilers, but go see it ... like right now, leave work and go). We've also got a look at the actual El Capitan and some of the great display they had there. If you've never seen a movie at this historic theater you really need to. It's quite the experience for the Movie/Disney fan. ​

So a few months ago we did a review of Batman vs Superman because we saw it early, and we were kind of nice to that movie, maybe even in hindsight a little too nice. Because in hindsight it was actually worse than we made it out to be in our review. 

And while yes, Civil War is in a totally different cinematic universe than Batman vs Superman given the "warring faction" nature of both movies it's kind of hard to not compare the two. 

And Civil War is pretty much everything Batman vs Superman isn't. Entertaining, fun, exciting, bright, well paced, just long enough and completely, completely satisfying. 

But let's go back a bit and stop the comparisons now, because there simply isn't one. 

This is now the 3rd or 4th event Marvel has held at the El Capitan and this event was actually around 15 hours long in total. The event started at 7am with Captain America: The First Avenger, then went into the original Avengers, then The Winter Soldier and finally Avengers: Age of Ultron before going into Civil War. 

And it's really those last 2 movies you may want to revisit before making your way out to see Civil War. 

I know that Age of Ultron in particular wasn't one of the best or most beloved Marvel movies, I enjoyed it enough on the first viewing, but it seemed like a rehash of The Avengers. 

But on subsequent viewings and especially after watching Civil War, it may receive a higher ranking on the list of MCU movies for me, I'll have to revisit that once I have a cup of coffee and rank them below. 

Without giving away too many spoilers Civil War does an amazing job of giving characters we know and love enough screen time instead of just being glorified cameo's, but also introducing the new characters in such an amazing way (REALLY trying hard not to compare it to that other movie). 

One of the biggest questions people had about this movie was "isn't this just Avengers 3" ... and with so many Avengers in the movie it could have gone wrong in so many ways and felt like that. But this is VERY MUCH a Captain America movie. He's at the heart of the movie and considering the other 2 Captain America movies are among the best of the stand-alone MCU movies it shouldn't be any surprise how good this one is. 

And let's just say it now ... after 5 movies and 15 years they FINALLY got Spider-Man right. I've been very vocal about my dislike of the existing Spider-Man movies and of them yet again rebooting that franchise, and even about the name "Spider-Man Homecoming". 

But I have to say, right now, I'm seriously excited for the new Spider-Man movie. As long as they don't do another origin story and begin the next one right where Civil War ended, it's going to be amazing. 

The other character introduction of The Black Panther was insanely good, and yet another character that they got perfect. Just enough screen time to get everybody excited for that movie, and you should be excited about it. 

This movie also did confirm that The Incredible Hulk movie with Edward Norton is indeed Canon to the MCU, not sure why there was any debate on that one. 

The action sequences are amazing. Our showing was in Dolby Vision 3D which looks amazing, but this movie doesn't really need it. It easily took me about 30 minutes to get used to the 3D. I'm simply not a fan of 3D for feature length movies and will always see a movie in 2D whenever it's an option. 

There are also many crowd cheering and laugh moments in the movie, which means that in a theater full of hard core Marvel fans we missed some of the dialogue, shucks, will have to see it again. And you should go see it, and then you're going to want to see it again. 

I've already been asked to compare this to Star Wars or Deadpool. Those are two TOTALLY different movies that are amazing on their own so I'm going to avoid doing that, it's simply too hard to do and it would be nit-picking. 

But if you want to just go and have an amazingly fun 2+ hours at the movie then you will not be disappointed in Captain America: Civil War. 

So as of right now, this is how I would rank the MCU films, and the movies at the top don't mean I'm just some Captain America fanboy, as I'm Team Iron Man (still) that should be clear. But the Captain America movies have simply been the best stand-alone Marvel movies so far.

In addition to the movie, the El Capitan also has a great display of costumes and other things from Captain America that you should surely check out.
