​ORLANDO, Fla. (February, 16, 2016) – Today, SeaWorld Orlando unveiled the custom-built Mako lead car that will take riders on a thrilling experience this summer – the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in Orlando.
 
Mako’s design and engineering was inspired by the real Mako shark – one of the ocean’s fastest shark species.  When it opens, Mako will top 200 feet high and reach speeds of 73 mph on a track that’s nearly a mile long. The new ride will be a hypercoaster, which means it’s all about speed, tight turns and that weightless feeling riders get at the top of each hill. 

​Coaster Train Design Facts Include:
 
Mako-Inspired Custom Car – In a collaboration between SeaWorld’s animal experts and ride engineers, the car is inspired by the physiology of an actual Mako shark, including five gills on each side, eye placement and sleek, hydro-dynamic look.
 
Fast Wheels– Comprised of a special compound that reduces friction -- providing a smooth, relentlessly fast ride from beginning to end.
 
Upper Body Mobility – With only a lap guard on their lower body, riders’ upper bodies are free for added mobility and “airtime”
 
The coaster will boast a total of 21 cars – including 3 trains of 7 cars per train.

We'll start off with a look at the spectacular loop which looks great with the blue around it. They were applying the primer today so this should hopefully be completed by next week. 

A closer look, as you can see the primer is definitely not the finished product.

According to our tour guide Bruce, the painting portion of the project is about 65% done and the entire project (not counting the trains) is about 75% done. 

Unfortunately we can confirm that a re-paint of Tatsu is not in the budget, at least not for this year. 

Along with The New Revolution, the entire front area of the park is getting redone. 

The Cyber Cafe seen below will now be called the Plaza Cafe. It will have a few new food items and will still offer free WiFi and everything that's inside now. (Confirmed by the park). 
Flags will now be called Six Flags Emporium and will receive a COMPLETE makeover inside. 
Suzette's Bakery will be renamed the World Famous Funnel Cake Factory and will also undergo some changes inside to hopefully make it easier to navigate. Their hope is to do the renovations during the week as to allow people to still get Funnel Cakes on the weekends. 

The Orient Express will now be called the "Helpful Honda Express" which means $$ needed to keep this attraction looking great. And it does. 
Lastly, the Grand Carousel will remain the same name but will be receiving a full overhaul. 

Moving on with the tour, white and shiny. 

As we head into the construction zone we can see all of the great work they are doing. 

The ride will no longer be themed to "Baja Ridge" but will instead be an "Americana" theme. 

The water features will not be returning but the entire area is going to be completely landscaped. 

Some new trees will be planted on the right. 

The new path is the ADA entrance and that will be near X2.

We'll start off with a look at Ninjago which kind of to our surprise is going to be located very close to the front of the park. 

We really love this new trend that parks have of doing entire lands around new attractions.

Below on the map you can see the area where the new land is going just to the right of the main entrance of the park. 

A few weeks ago the park sent us some sneak peek pics of the ride building and the new vehicles. Be sure to check it out here (and some of the pics below). 

New since our last visit is the all new Lego Heartlake City addition. 

It's definitely an area for the girls. 

The Carousel was very large and oddly didn't play any music, just clopping of the horses. 

Nice characters of the Lego Friends. 

We are definitely not the intended audience for this area of the park, but we thought it was very nicely done. 

Before we move on into the rest of the park be sure to check out our HD POV of the Fairy Tale Brook at the park. It's a great little ride. We'd also taken some video of Mini-Land but we didn't really care for the way it turned out. Next time we're at the park we're going to spend some time getting some great video of Mini Land. We've got some cool ideas on how to pull that off. 

One of our favorite parts of Legoland are all of the quirky little Lego figures. 

The Dragon coaster which if you haven't ridden it is basically a Lego version of Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios. Those who have ridden will know what I mean. 

One of these days we'll try and arrange it with the park to get some POV of this great fun family coaster. 

Legoland also has one of the best Splash Battles we've seen. 

Don't forget to head down to the park and check out The Lego Movie 4D ... NOW OPEN!!!

SO much room outside the park now. Lots of room for switch backs and long queues. =) 

With the new EZ Rez plan they are really encouraging people to get their tickets online prior to arriving at the park. I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a park ticket at the actual park. Maybe Adventureland in Iowa? 

Inside the park, great new brickwork in front of the Universal Store. 

Lots more details are starting to show up on the buildings. 

Still not much to see on this side. 

Not a whole lot of room for people to walk, so bring your patience if you head to the park. 

Lots of Universal employees on hand to help direct crowds. 

Hadn't noticed these before. Are they new? Anybody? 

Of course, we couldn't come to USH and not have a few Wizarding World pictures. 

They are pretty much testing music and effects every day now, so you can hear lots of great stuff. 

Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update. Sorry we didn't get down to the lower lot to look at Jurassic Park during our visit. We'll make it a priority next time.
