The New Revolution Update #5

We've been putting off our Magic Mtn update this week because we've had so much other great stuff to share.
We were originally going to post this tomorrow and post our Six Flags Discovery Kingdom update today, but tomorrow we were invited to a hard-hat tour of The Joker, so we figured we'd save that update for tomorrow morning to get you pumped for the tour!

Got to the park at about 10:32 - Boy do they shut down that Gold Passholder line quick.. =)

Some new ad's in Gold Rusher's queue. We've included the scan code if you wanna play.

Not too much change in the action theater, but work is going on.

Moving on to The New Revolution, work has definitely picked up in the last week.

Lots of barrels of blue primer ... it's not paint, it's primer.

The station is getting an all new roof.

Lots of work going on in the station. The area where the ride controls are is also totally covered up as you can see on the bottom left.

Since the queue is likely to be used this summer they are definitely working on that as well.

This goes here and that goes there.

A closer look at the ride control area. Looks like everything has been removed.

On the other side lots of trees have been removed.

We almost missed this, but the Grand Carousel is also closed for what looks like a pretty extensive refurb. This is great to see and kind of points to this entire area getting a makeover prior to The New Revolution opening.

Orient Express was also closed but it looks like it was open on Sunday and Monday.

WDW - Pandora, Rivers of Light and EPCOT

Avatar Disney Parks Disney's Animal Kingdom EPCOT Rivers Of Light

Today we have a bonus update from Walt Disney World where Renée was out at the parks to take a look at Pandora and Rivers of Light construction at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
We'll also take a quick look at EPCOT and the work going on in The Land Pavilion as well as the new animatronics in the Mexico Pavilion.

At Disney's Animal Kingdom, construction is still getting taller in Pandora for their Avatar land.

Floating rocks FTW!!

Construction for the Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom looks closer to completion.

DAK is such a beautiful park at night, it's going to be great to have a show here.

Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks now open at Expedition Everest, serving sushi and a full bar at Animal Kingdom.

You can see the height of Avatar land from the parking lot at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Over at Epcot, the last remaining holiday decorations finally were put away over the weekend.

Crowds at The Land in Epcot should be low for the first half of this year.

Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival has now replaced Captain EO at Epcot.

Baymax now has his own meet and greet room at Epcot's Character Spot, where he is giving out free hugs.

It's very cool to see the animatronics that have been recently added to Gran Fiesta Tour in Mexico at Epcot!

Bijutsu-kan in Japan at Epcot celebrates Kawaii. Check out the popcorn bucket and Gelatoni plush from Tokyo Disney.

Sea World Orlando - Mako Construction update

Today we have a great mini-update from Sea World Orlando as Renée gives us an update on Mako.

Orlando's tallest coaster is really looking amazing as well as the entire area around the ride.

The Sharks area is transforming quickly. We can't wait to ride Mako this summer!

EPIC Transformation continues at Universal Hollywood

We're back this week at Universal Studios Hollywood as their "EPIC TRANSFORMATION" continues. And really, it is quite epic to think that in just a couple of months the walls around Wizarding World are going to be open and we are going to be inside.
Of course, prior to that, there is LOTS to be done, and it's some of that we're going to spend some time with on this update. It's a big one, you may want to grab a snack. =)

We'll start off down on Lankershim as the pedestrian bridge from the Metro Red Line is coming together nicely.

Probably not the best idea to be taking pictures while driving next to CHP. Ooops. =)

The video board is getting some much needed upgrades. Can't wait to see it all done.

Heading up the hill. Because new lands and new parking structures are great, but if you have no way for people to get up the hill ...

Now that we're all parked let's head into the park, but wait, lots more epic transformations going on here too.

The entire right side of the entry plaza is being redone. But FYI, the gates on that side are still open, and people don't really notice. Score!!

Once inside the park, the work is still just beginning.

The new retail location is looking really great and should complement the entry of the park very well.

This is the main way into the park ... and they are still holding people prior to 9am. They may want to move that into the park a bit more as this was as far back as people were lined up.

Some great details on these buildings.

Even around the corner the buildings are looking great.

Hollywood Grill is also getting some work done. You may remember there's a pretty big seating area behind these walls, not sure if it's coming back or not. It's kind of in what is going to be a VERY high traffic area.

Moving down to the lower lot, Jurassic Park:: The Ride is getting a very extensive rehab. Lots of the track after the drop has already been replaced.

Don't piss off the supervisor. He's got some pretty sharp teeth.

The new dining location across from Transformers is under tarps still. No details have emerged yet.

Just a couple of quick tram notes. The building between the front lot stages and the backlot NY sets is gone. This is a pretty big plot of land, no way to know what's coming but it's plenty big enough for another soundstage.

Work is continuing in earnest on Little Europe. Apologies for the bluriness, the tram didn't want to stop for us. ;)

How awesome would it be if they used this area for HHN?

And that's gonna wrap it up for ... oh, wait, that's right, Wizarding World. ;)

Ticketing systems for Wizarding World are ready to go.

This is going to be Lunar New Year soon, and then it's going to be a queue. A very long, very magical queue.

It was quite overcast today, very Hogwarts'y

Walls have started to come down and we can now see into Hogsmeade.

And a new view of Hogwarts.

Oh yeah, we can still see this old view too. ;)

There were lights on and everything!!

Later in the day they were testing music and other things in Hogsmeade.

Alright, that's for real going to wrap it up for this update. It was really long, but there is so much going on at the park right now. Let's just hope they can get it all ready for Wizarding World. It's going to be insane, VERY insane, but still awesome.

Hong Kong Disneyland - Mystic Point

Today we're back at Hong Kong Disneyland with a look at Mystic Point!!

Columbia River Maritime Museum

A few weeks ago great friend of the site Matt sent us some great pictures of the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, OR.
This is definitely one of those places most of us will never get to see so thank you to Matt for sending these pics. For more information about the Columbia River Maritime Museum be sure to check out the link.

There are a lot of different exhibits about the history of the Columbia River...

Speaking of outside... Also included is a self guided tour of the light ship Columbia...

The Astoria-Megler bridge... Several movies have been filmed on it...

Over all I found CRMM a fun way to spend several hours learning about the importance of the Columbia River to the area. If anyone is in Astoria Oregon for a couple of days I would recommend a stop.

Thanks again to Matt for this great look at the Columbia River Museum. Always looking for fun touristy things to visit on our travels, we'll have to check this out if we ever make it up that way.
