    Sidewinder Safari Media Day Update from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

    Last Friday we were invited out to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom as the park unveiled their newest coaster, Sidewinder Safari! While the coaster itself is one you may see at a few different parks, the amount of themeing and care they've done on the queue and surrounding area is kind of awesome.

    Happy Tuesday that feels like a Monday! Hope you all had a great long holiday weekend, and if you visited any parks you brought your patience with you. We made a quick stop at Magic Mountain on Friday before the weekend crowds showed up, only to see that it was Middle School day in the park. Needless to say, this was the shortest visit I've made to the park since they reopened last year. I think I was at the park for about 45 minutes tops. 

    But that was enough time to get some pics and video of what's going on around the park, and use my skip the line pass on Full Throttle. 

    I also apologize for the brightness of the pics/video. It was overcast and very bright and not the best day to get pics. Everything looks washed out. Oh well. It happens. =)

    I know we'd been discussing a July 4th opening, and they could technically still make it, but it will be close. We had heard track was to be completed by the end of May, that's obviously not happening. Even if it's done by the end of this week, that leaves barely a month to finish if they're hoping for July 4th. I just don't see it happening. Right now I'd say a mid-July opening. But obviously we'll update you all if we hear any different.

    Disneyland Visit Thoughts - May 24, 2022

    In this (kind of) update I'm going to share some thoughts about our visit to Disneyland yesterday. This isn't a proper "Disneyland Update", not in the least. I will be sharing some Disneyland update pics/thoughts on Lightning lane separately.

    In this post I want to share some thoughts about our visit yesterday, and just how special it was for our family.

    We had an awesome day yesterday. For those who saw my tweet yesterday, our visit was kind of one last visit with our current family structure. Both of our children are moving out and getting married within the next 8 or so months. Our first born is moving out in 2 weeks and marrying their partner in February. 

    Our son is moving to Canada in August (that's gonna be a long/fun drive) and getting married in October. 

    So it's an emotional year for Mom and Dad as I'm sure you can tell.

    Luckily our children indulged us with one last (free) trip to Disneyland with just the 4 of us. Lol. 

    Disneyland was such a huge part of our lives when they were growing up. We would always offer them the choice between playing sports/other activities or getting Disneyland AP's. It's just that we knew the time commitment for those activities would make the AP's not worth it. The ALWAYS chose AP's until they got into HS and found other activities like FFA and Track. But Disneyland visits were always special. It was always our chosen family escape. 

    Heck, our son got engaged at Disneyland last year.

    So yesterday was special. Not that every future trip with their spouses won't be, because we can't wait for that either. 

    We just wanted one last trip just the 4 of us. And it was awesome. We pretty much took it chill, had way too many snacks and so many laughs.

    So a word of advice to you younger parents, take the time, make those special memories. Because it's not very often that 24 and 25 year olds with lives of their own take time out of their lives to simply hang out with Mom and Dad, even if it's at Disneyland. Our oldest is finishing up their masters degree within the next 2 weeks, so we know it wasn't the easiest ask to "take a day". 

    Unbeknownst to us, we did something right. =) ​

    The Great American Scream Machine Opens at Six Flags Over Georgia Memorial Day Weekend

    Park’s Summer Season Kicks off May 27 with Upgrades to a Classic Coaster, Opening Day of Hurricane Harbor, and Final Weekend of Tapas & Tequila 
    Six Flags Over Georgia invites guests to celebrate the unofficial start of summer this Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-30.  

    The park announced today that The Great American Scream Machine re-opens this Friday, May 27, after a multi-year re-tracking project. The updated coaster features new track, new wood throughout most of the structure, a renovated queue house and over 400 gallons of fresh paint. This classic, wooden coaster has thrilled guests for nearly fifty years, and to celebrate its grand re-opening, Six Flags Over Georgia will be handing out red, white and blue leis to the first 1,000 guests on May 27.  

    Guests can escape the summer heat at Hurricane Harbor, a tropical-themed water park inside of Six Flags Over Georgia included with park admission. The water park will be open daily, May 27 through July 31.  

    This weekend is the last call for Tapas & Tequila, presented by ¡Viva Tequila Festival!. Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, is the last chance to experience this one-of-a-kind fiesta featuring six mouthwatering small plate and tequila pairings and captivating live entertainment. The best way to enjoy Tapas & Tequila is with a festival punch card, which can be purchased at sixflags.com/overgeorgia. 

    Families can visit Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water all season long with the new Junior Pass, free for children ages 3-5. Junior Passes can be ordered online at sixflags.com/overgeorgia, but must be processed in person at the park by Monday, May 30.  

    Six Flags Over Georgia will begin daily summer operation, May 27 and Six Flags White Water will be open daily May 28. Guests can plan their visit and purchase their tickets and passes online at sixflags.com.

    Guests Will Encounter a Spinning Roller Coaster and Live Reptiles

    VALLEJO, Calif. — May 3, 2022 — Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, the Thrill Capital of Northern California, today announced the opening date for a new one-of-a-kind, combination thrilling family coaster and animal exhibit experience--Sidewinder Safari. Featuring real live encounters with various reptiles, guests will be immersed in a jungle-like setting as they prepare for a wild ride along 1,378 feet of slithering track.     Your gentle reminder, weekdays from now until early June are the absolute best days of the year to visit. Great weather, low crowds and a general relaxed feeling all around the park.

    We also did a second video, "Five Things I Would Do at Six Flags Magic Mountain If I Was in Charge". 

    But I kept this realistic, and honestly, rather low cost. So you're not going to see "Add a Giga" or "Open the Sky Tower" in this video.
