    New DC UNIVERSE Themed Area Coming to Six Flags Great America in 2022

    Reimagined Section of Theme Park to Debut Opening Weekend

    Six Flags Great America— the Thrill Capital of the Midwest— in partnership with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and DC, today announced the introduction of DC UNIVERSE, an exciting, newly themed section of the park where guests can immerse themselves inside a DC comic book-inspired world. This area of the park will feature three reimagined attractions – THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity, a high-speed launch coaster, AQUAMAN Splashdown, a winding flume ride with a watery plunge, and DC Super-Villains Swing, an exhilarating spinning attraction twirling guests in a 360-degree orbit. This one-of-a-kind themed section will also include park favorites BATMAN The Ride and THE JOKER Free-Fly Coaster.

    “Six Flags Great America prides itself on bringing guests new, innovative and thrilling experiences each season,” said Park President John Krajnak. “DC UNIVERSE is the largest and most exciting park enhancement in recent memory. This newly branded area brings together some of DC’s most iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains for an exhilarating and immersive experience.”

    DC UNIVERSE, located in the former Yankee Harbor section of the park, will also offer new dining and shopping experiences, as well as evated guest comforts, like a broad, open midway, new patio space to enjoy refreshments and photo op installations featuring iconic DC characters.

    Guests can satisfy their super hero-sized appetites at the all-new Steelworks Pub, Gotham City Snacks, Central City Snacks and Captain Cold Ice Cream, located within DC UNIVERSE and available for mobile ordering on the Six Flags app when visiting the park. Guests can enjoy the all-new beer garden and patio at Steelworks Pub and delicious new treats, including Dole Whip, Oreo Funnel Cake Sundaes, and Buffalo Chicken Mac ‘n Cheese, in DC UNIVERSE and throughout the park.

    This is a really great first step at some park specific merchandise, but we really do want to see more park/coaster specific merchandise, and even some retro merchandise. We know those things take time.

The U.S. debut of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Universal Studios Hollywood will transport theme park guests and Nintendo fans into the world of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach to become part of their compelling universe.

                SUPER NINTENDO WORLD was conceived in partnership with Nintendo and the visionaries at Universal Creative to deliver exhilarating entertainment with innovative technological achievements inspired by characters and video games that have appealed to generations of Nintendo fans for over 40 years.

    Seven Seas Food Festival 2022 at SeaWorld Orlando

    This past Friday we were invited out to SeaWorld Orlando to check out this years Seven Seas Food Festival. Andrew and Brittany headed to the park in the afternoon and were able to try out some great looking food, and even see some track being installed on Journey to Atlantis!     Just a bit more to go on Tatsu. The area from the final brakes, through the station and to the bottom of the lift seems to be the only track portions left to paint. A few more supports at the end of the ride too.

    I know the park needs advertising, and it makes money, but I can't imagine Adriana's Insurance is paying enough to make this eyesore worth it. This is just bad show.

    Lastly, we always encourage people to start their day towards the back of the park (not X2, Tatsu or Full Throttle), and this is why. In just over 2 hours I was able to ride these 4 coasters (with zero wait) and do our full update. In fact, I was on the first Twisted Colossus train of the day and got a Zen ride on Riddlers Revenge. I could have ridden even more.

    Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update, it'll probably be a couple of weeks before our next update unless one of the construction tours comes up next week. We're at Disneyland all next weekend.

    The Hall of Shadows returns with the theme of “Halloween Comes Home”. Guests will step into a darkened realm filled with fog, haunted attractions, and lurking monsters. Over a dozen home and pro haunters including CalHauntS, Fear Farm, Reichland Asylum, Temecula Terror, and Corona Haunt will create stunning mazes and displays for guests to explore. The Decayed Brigade will thrill audiences with incredible displays of sliding prowess and showmanship daily.
     
    “The excitement for the return of Hall of Shadows is palpable,” says Rick West, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Midsummer Scream. “The haunters, the fans - everyone is more than ready for this, and these amazing teams are ready to bring it home and create the best Hall of Shadows experience yet!     Continuing Midsummer Scream’s tradition of world-class presentations, “Original Monster Kids” will be an unprecedented gathering of the Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Jr./Sr., and Vincent Price families on stage to share pictures, home movies, and discuss what it has been like growing up the children and grandchildren of the most famous horror and pop-culture icons in the world.

    ​Other thrilling presentations throughout the weekend include the Winchester Mystery House, LA Haunted Hayride, and “Composers of the Apocalypse” which will feature legendary horror genre musicians… and perhaps even a live performance or two!
     
    Brand-new for 2022 is the Museum of Halloween, displaying a variety of vintage collectibles, costumes, and more, alongside original artwork created just for the event, celebrating the culture, community, and even commercialism of the spooky season.
     
    Featuring more than 350 vendors and artists, the Midsummer Scream show floor is a stunning collection of shirts and apparel, artwork, masks, posters, toys, oddities, and decorations for all Halloween and horror lifestylers as well as haunted attraction creators. Vendors and companies found on the show floor will include The Mystic Museum, Tee No Evil, Vamp and the Fiends, Trick Or Treat Studios, Backstitch Bruja, Discount Cemetery, Nocturnal DesignZ, and Immortal Masks. 
     
    Also on the show floor, guests will find notable film celebrities such as James Jude Courtney (Michael Myers in Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends), Jeff Daniel Philips and Daniel Roebuck (Rob Zombie’s The Munsters), Eileen Dietz (Pazuzu’s face, The Exorcist), Instagram legend Christine McConnell, and popular YouTubers Dead Meat and Grimm Life Collective.

    More fan favorite components of Midsummer Scream will include the Black Cat Lounge kitten adoption space, Paranormal Pixie’s Pumpkin Patch children’s zone, and the Screaming Room Film Festival presented by HorrorBuzz.
