Sneak Peek of the World of Pandora at Disney's Animal Kingdom (Part Two)

    Image description
Today we're back for another sneak peek of the World of Pandora at Disney's Animal Kingdom. You could say it's our sequel, and it only took us a week.

And today we'll actually be checking out the two new E-Ticket attractions on Pandora. We've avoided spoilers but hopefully we'll give you enough to get you excited for the attractions.

    SFMM Justice League Update #9

    Image description
Today we're back at Six Flags Magic Mountain for another look at Metropolis and Justice League Battle For Metropolis.

Also, Apocalypse finally reopened this weekend after a lengthy refubishment and re-tracking. Did it help? Read on below.
    Written by Gregg Condon
Here we are back in Metropolis, home of Tidal Wave?

Work has begun on Ace O' Clubs

Guessing we'll start seeing more visible work going on outside

Can't wait to see this done, guessing lots of great stuff is going on inside

    Mmm Beer

It's going to look so great when it's all done

    Repainting of Riddlers has begun
    Picture
Old and new ... wish it was sunnier so you could see the difference better. I do like the green, haven't seen any of the new support color yet.
    Picture
As we were walking by they were opening Apocalypse. You can see them removing the sign here.

It's great to see this ride back in action

So did the re-tracking help? Yes and no.

The parts that were re-tracked are great. Smooth and fun. They did re-track the worst parts of the ride so that's awesome. Still there are a few parts that didn't get re-tracked and it would have been nice to see the entire ride get a re-track. We're hoping this is a multi-year process and the ride will come back down next offseason for more work to bring it back to where it was on opening day.

We can definitely see the reason why the park wants to get the ride open for the busy Summer season.
The park is advertising a couple of movies, one of them would make an AMAZING Fright Fest maze. We'll let you guess which one.
    Picture
    Picture
They are also preparing for their Grad Nite festivities.
    Picture
    Picture
    Picture
Swashbuckler is also closed for a refurbishment. Don't think there's any other ride at this park that get's as much refurbishment as Swashbuckler.
    Picture
Drop of Doom was closed due to high winds and sadly not to move the VR off of Revolution and onto the drop ride like some other Six Flags parks.
    Picture
And lastly, we'll leave you with some Twisted Colossus pictures, because why not.

Sneak Peek of the World of Pandora at Disney's Animal Kingdom

    Image description
Today we have a very special treat for you, a sneak peak of the World of Pandora at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

While we won't be participating in any of the media events for this all new area of the park we hope that between CM and AP previews over the next few weeks we can bring you some different and unique coverage of this amazing looking new world.
The Valley of Mo'ara is the centerpiece for Pandora. When you first set foot inside, it is simply breathtaking.

Pongu Pongu will be serving drinks in Pandora, some exclusive to this location. We can't wait to try them!

Windtraders is the merchandise location for all things Pandora. You'll have to travel back to Earth if you're looking for Mickey ears.

A look at Satu'li Canteen, the quick service dining option in Pandora

It's great to see some different dining options at a theme park!
    Picture
Tried the chili spiced crispy fried tofu with red and sweet potato hash and creamy herb dressing. Delicious!
    Picture
We'll be back on Pandora next week for more, can't wait! It was amazing to just get a peek at things there yesterday.
    Picture
We hope you enjoyed our first look at the World of Pandora. It's simply breathtaking and we hope you'll enjoy our looks at this new world over the next few weeks.

One of the things that struck us most is how the land really does blend in well with the rest of Disney's Animal Kingdom while obviously being alien in nature. Disney Imagineering has done amazing work utilizing a theme that many weren't sure they could actually pull off.

Knott's Berry Farm - Sol Spin Review and Boomerang De-Construction

    Image description
Today we've got an all new update from Knott's Berry Farm.

In the last couple of weeks they've closed Boomerang and removed quite a bit of track as well as opening up their all new flat ride Sol Spin.
    Written by Gregg Condon
Welcome to Knott's Berry Farm where we're in the few short weeks between the Boysenberry Festival and Ghost Town Alive. The park was thriving on a warmer than usual Saturday.
    Picture
The main reason for our short visit was to check out the all new Sol Spin.
    Picture
    Picture
Overall I think Sol Spin is a nice addition to Fiesta Village. It certainly fits the theme and brings a lot of nice kinetic energy to the area. I'm not big on flat rides that flip a lot (I've only ridden one Chaos and one Slingshot and that was enough for me) so I did enjoy the ride.
But I can definitely see how those of you who like more intense flat rides would think this is a bit short. The actual ride time is barely over a minute. Still, it's a fun addition to the park in advance of whatever big attraction they are going to be adding in 2018.
Speaking of that 2018 attraction, whatever it's going to be is  most certainly going in the spot that occupied Boomerang. Hard to believe this ride just closed a week or so ago.
    Picture
They've also started vertical construction on the new BBQ restaurant and it's going up really quick. Wonder if they can get this open before Ghost Town Alive starts?
    Picture
The Cobra Roll is almost completely removed, and very well could be by the time this update is posted.
    Picture
    Picture
    No vallying here. ;)
    Picture
The towers are still there, for now.
    Picture
This view will be quite different soon.
    Picture
California Sports is also behind walls.
    Picture
Whatever they are building they have a lot of room for whatever it is. Whether it's the full ride, just a station, we'll find out soon!!
    Picture
Going to be weird but nice not seeing these towers behind the Calico Mine Ride.
    Picture
    Another angle from the Railroad.
    Picture
Obviously at this point we don't know what the final fate will be for Boomerang but given the care they are taking in removing the ride it would make sense that it will end up at another Cedar Fair Park. Couple that with Cedar Fair recently purchasing one of the new Vekoma trains and that kind of fits with a Boomerang.
At this point our best guess would be Michigan's Adventure, but we'll see.
Xcelerator is closed while it get's an oil change.
    Picture
You thought I was kidding, but nope, out with the old hydraulic fluid, in with the new.
    Picture
    Picture
    Return of Shadowlands confirmed? ;)
    Picture
Both trains are sitting on the break run while they work in the station and on the launch.

Maybe they need some car covers? ;)
    Picture
That's going to wrap it up for this Knott's update. We'll be back in just a few weeks for Ghost Town Alive.

Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side

    Image description
Today we're back in Florida with another great update from Walt Disney World.

Today we're joining Renée as she runs 19.3 miles through the parks of Walt Disney World with some Storm Troopers, Droids and even Matt.

    Written by Renée Girard
The Star Wars half marathon weekend kicked off at WDW today! Tomorrow and Sunday we'll be journeying to the Dark Side.
    Picture
While at the Star Wars Half expo, be sure to stop by the Cantina. You can get a Dole Whip in a Chewbacca stein!

    Picture
I don't think I've ever seen this much as far as snacks and drinks at a RunDisney expo.
    Picture

think this is my favorite shirt at the Star Wars Half expo.

We'll be up early the next 2 days for the Dark Side Challenge. Good luck to all running, and stay hydrated!

In a corral far, far away... awaiting the start of the Star Wars 10k. Looking forward to the new course!

Star Wars themed costumes are always popular among the runners. I've already spotted a few Matts this morning.
    Picture
    See you in 6.2 miles!
    Picture
    Storm troopers and Spaceship Earth!

This is the race you're looking for.

    Picture
Finished! One race down, one more to go.
    Picture
I don't think I've ever seen wait times posted for the characters. Great to see this addition!
    Picture
We're back for another early morning run. It's time for the Star Wars Half Marathon!
    Picture
The first runners are on their way! May The Force be with us all to conquer the Dark Side Challenge
    Picture
I always look forward to seeing the creative Star Wars costumes and shirts along the course.

Editors Note: For some reason this picture and tweet blew up on Twitter on Sunday and we have no idea why. It's certainly clever, and we always love a good Pun. Guess sometimes you never know what people are going to enjoy.

Running through Disney's Hollywood Studios. What's up DCA? =)

Finish line and medals at Epcot!
