With that said, let's get to the videos!!

The new sign. it looks great and very colorful and shiny. 

Didn't notice this lit up when we got to the ride, but again it was 4:00am...

The ACE sign has been re-done and it looks phenomenal. It's so nice to see this landmark coaster get the TLC it's needed.

Just FYI for those with young kids. If they are over 48" they can still ride The New Revolution, but they can't use the VR headsets until they are 13. 

We also just confirmed with the park that this requirement is from Samsung and Oculus and the park is following their safety guidelines. 

Some action shots!! Notice the front wasn't on the train due to filming. Like Twisted Colossus the front is removable so they can add camera rigs. Smart idea.

Last night we were invited up to Valencia to see a sneak preview of Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. So while I wasn't really gung ho about the movie, and even less so after seeing the reviews (currently 33% on Rotten Tomatoes) I wasn't about to pass up a free movie. 

And it was so "advanced" that we were checked for recording equipment before the film, there was a message from Zack Snyder about "spoilers" and two men in suits (assuming from WB) watching us watching the movie. So it was kind of cool. 

That being said, I could probably lay out the entire plot of the movie and there would be nothing that would truly "spoil" anything. But I'm totally not going to do that, so feel free to read on. 

So where to start off ... is it the worst superhero movie ever? No. Not even close. Is it the best? No. Not even close. It's not even the best superhero movie to come out so far in 2016 (that goes to Deadpool). But what it does do is exactly what Warner Brothers wanted it to do, and that's set up the Justice League, and it does that well. 

When you see the movie you will be entertained, there are very few "laughs" in it (typical Zack Snyder), the story is fine, the acting is fine, the directing is fine ... ultimately where the film fails is where most of Zack Snyder's films fail, and that's a severe lack of editing. 

They could easily trim 25-30 minutes from this movie and it would be much better (if they trimmed the right 25-30 minutes). There are a few very confusing scenes with Batman in particular that I'm still trying to figure out why they were there. They do nothing to move the story forward, they are weird transitions and just plain make no sense. 

I went in with VERY low expectations and the first 1/3 of the movie it was pretty much meeting those expectations. But by the end I was entertained and am looking forward to the next films with these characters. 

The movie starts off with a kind of "re-cap" of the end of Man of Steel, just from a different perspective. Even though Superman Returns is the better Superman movie (IMO) WB has chosen to pretend that movie doesn't exist, so if you haven't seen Man of Steel in awhile, or not at all, I'd give it another watch. Just so you are up to speed.

There are a couple of nods to Nolan's Batman movies (he served as Exec Producer) which were interesting and cool. 

The cast is actually pretty solid and shouldn't just be discounted. 

• Batman/Bruce Wayne - I'm not a huge fan of Ben Affleck (the actor, he's a great director) but he did fine in the role although I can't imagine him being anybody's favorite Batman. 
• Superman/Clark Kent - Henry Cavill was one of the highlights of Man of Steel and he plays the character well here. (side note: If you haven't seen Man from U.N.C.L.E. yet, do so, he's great in that movie along with Armie Hammer)
• Wonder Woman/Diana Prince - Gal Gadot is everything Wonder Woman should be. Hot, exotic, hot, mysterious, did I mention hot? She got the biggest cheer of the film. Can't wait to see what they do with her movie. 
• Alfred - This was an interesting casting choice, Jeremy Irons isn't your typical Alfred so it was kind of odd. But it's Jeremy Irons and if you have a chance to put Jeremy Irons in your movie you do so. 
• Lex Luthor - Wow. If you had any reservations about Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor, don't. He flat out steals every scene he's in. . 

The rest of the supporting cast is fine, Amy Adams is a sufficient Lois Lane, Holly Hunter is just kind of "there" (totally underused) and Diane Lane actually gives the character of Martha Kent a bit of depth, which we haven't seen much of so that was nice.

They also do a small reveal of a few other characters in The Justice League, but that probably would constitute a spoiler so I won't do that here. I will say that the intro was actually pretty well done without giving away too much. 

At the end of the day, if you are a huge DC fan you will enjoy this movie. If you are a comic book movie fan you will also enjoy this movie. If you are a fan of popcorn movies you will probably enjoy this movie. If you take things too seriously and nit-pick everything you will definitely not enjoy this movie. 

Don't go in expecting Iron Man or the first Avengers movie ... it's not up to that level. But despite it's missteps it does introduce a new generation of DC characters beyond just Batman and Superman and that is a good thing. 

So to do the whole "review" thing and give it thumbs or stars or something I'd say on a scale of Togo to MACK it's about a B&M. Solid thrills without being anything mindblowing. (that's 3 1/2 out of 5 stars for you non coaster nerds). =) 

Hopefully the bad reviews don't spell doom for this movie and all the rest that are to follow. Because that would be a shame.

A look at the final tower, the only thing left to be placed is the masthead that we'll show a bit more of below. 

One of the cool things about this ride is the entire tower will rotate, not just the arms. A look at the drive motors that will spin the tower. 

Flood lights on the masthead that will light up the ride at night and below that LED lights that will light up each arm. 

Let's take a look at the seats which look ultra comfy. 

That backside of the seats for all you seat enthusiasts. We're pretty sure you're out there.

While we aren't exactly opposed to a Guardians of the Galaxy ride, and we aren't really even opposed to using an existing ride to pull it off, there are a LOT of better choices than Tower of Terror. It would take the best ride at Walt Disney World (in Gregg's opinion) and make it into one of the worst. 

So we figured, why not have some fun with this rumor and point out a few existing rides that would be a MUCH better fit for the Guardians of the Galaxy theme. 

​Some of them obviously took a bit more thought than others, some of the photoshop work below isn't exactly the best, but hey, we're just having fun here anyway. 

#6 - Guardians of the Galaxy Track: Create your own spaceship and zoom it around "Knowhere" all while avoiding The Collector. 

#5 - Guardians of the Galaxy: The Ride: Using the existing Mission Space ride fly an emergency mission to Xandar to rescue the Nova Corp. 

#4 - Guardians Mountain: The first Space Mountain Layover at the Magic Kingdom using all new technology to fly through space with the Guardians of the Galaxy

#3 - Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster starring Blue Swede: A perfect mix of Guardians of the Galaxy and the awesome soundtrack as you fly through space with Star Lord and his Awesome Mix. We bet you get "hooked on a feeling". 

#2 - The Land with Groot: Learn about science and nature with everybody's favorite walking, talking tree. You've never learned more in 3 words as you will on these adventures. 

#1 - Rocket's Great Escape: Break out of the Kyln with Rocket at the lead. Be sure you have your extra leg.

Welcome to Knott's Berry Farm!! 

Knott's always puts on great media events

Did you know that Knott's now has park-wide free WiFi? We used it all day on Saturday and even with the large crowds had no issues at all. 

We'll start off the update with a quick look at Ghostrider. We also have a quick video update below. 

Even from outside the park you can see the difference between the old and new wood.

Not too many changes from our tours a few weeks ago. If you missed that update you can see it here.  

Inside the park, not a whole lot has changed since our tour a few weeks ago. 

As you may have heard last week the opening has been pushed back from Memorial Weekend until sometime in June. As soon as we get a specific date we will let you know. 

The MCBR-less turnaround. 

Even though it was a Saturday they were still working on the ride to get it ready. 

You can see below they are starting to put the lighting back on the pre-lift. 

The pan for gold is looking great and it will be nice to see this back at the front of the park. 

But of course the main reason for our visit was the Boysenberry Festival.

Panna Cotta and Cannoli 

The Alligator Bites were back this year. And we have to say, these were great the first year but the last two years they just haven't done it for us. I think it's time for them to retire this item after this year. 

Of course, no Boysenberry Festival is complete without yummy beer and wine. For a real tasty treat have them mix the Boysenberry Beer with the Berry Cider. Very refreshing. 

Also new this year the Cinnamon Chips with Boysenberry Dip. Really nice treat. 

Hot Dog with Boysenberry Relish. You can get it on the side too. 

The Fun Stick and Boysenberry Flautas. 

The Boysenberry Festival runs through April 3 so be sure you check it out. It's a lot of fun. 

The Calico Saloon also reopened from it's refurb and it looks absolutely fantastic!!!

So much more room up here now which is awesome.

Before we get started we also put together a little video of the chef's talking about the new food for this year, which was all excellent. 

After a 3 hour drive it was nice to see this sign and know that good food was close. (Stupid LA Traffic)

I think one of the most underrated things about the invention of the Boysenberry Festival has been all of the Berry Market goods that have come along with it. So much stuff to choose from. 

The Salsa is new and the Boysenberry Chipotle is amazing. 

Lots of great wine vendors. Being a red wine man myself I didn't try any of the white wine's. I'll have my wife try some of those tomorrow. She'll be heartbroken. =) 

Before we get started on the food, I just want to commend Knott's and their entire food team for the amazing culinary turnaround they've made the last few years. 

For those of you long time fans of the park you'll remember that 5 or 6 years ago most of us would actually leave the park to eat. It was typical "theme park food". And now there are just so many great things to eat whether it's Boysenberry Festival or a Tuesday in October. 

New for this year ... The Fun Stick!!! Boysenberry Cheesecake dipped in Funnel Cake batter and fried ... on a stick. Amazing. 

Wings with "the sauce". 

Pulled Pork with "the sauce" and cold slaw. Amazing. 

Chicken sandwich with Boysenberry Mayo

The Boysenberry beer is back, or as seen below, Boysenberry Beer mixed with Berry Cider. 

Short Ribs!!! 

Boysenberry Meatballs. They actually had these at a few media events last year and they are pretty amazing. They'd be great on a sandwich.

The Boysenberry Lemonade is VERY tart, but I loved it.

And lastly the Boysenberry Panna Cotta which was probably my favorite "dessert" thing that was new this year. It's perfectly made and very creamy and delicious. 

Next week we'll have our full Boysenberry Festival report including more food, entertainment and more and since we'll be at the park I guess we'll take a look at Ghostrider construction. Don't forget, as the park announced yesterday, Ghostrider will now be opening in June. We do not have a specific date yet. 

Also don't forget that there will be a Boysenberry Eating Contest tomorrow featuring Joey Chestnut at 2:00pm.
