Internationally-acclaimed An Old Time Christmas open through Dec. 30
    Picture
(BRANSON, Missouri 10/30/2023) BRANSON, Missouri — The holiday season shines brighter than ever at Silver Dollar City’s An Old Time Christmas, 5-time winner of USA TODAY’s “Best Theme Park Holiday Event,” with over 6.5 million LED lights lining nearly every board of every building, holiday-inspired flavors and tastes around every corner, two Broadway-style productions decking the halls each day and 40 rides and attractions taking flight through the sky with Santa’s sleigh from Nov. 4 – Dec 30.

Spanning the streets of The City, millions of LED Christmas lights offer a new display of color throughout the 1880s theme park, including a new hanging red and gold bell display, lined from the top of Valley Road down to the record-breaking Time Traveler roller coaster, complete with flowing green garland and pops of tinsel. At the top of the park, an 8-story Christmas tree is the centerpiece of Joy On Town Square, a light-filled production equipped with LED-mapping technology synced with music, shining and displaying angels, shepherds, ornaments, snow, and other winter-time images 360 degrees around the tree.
    Picture
Just steps beyond Joy On Town Square is Christmas in Midtown, The City’s most concentrated light display, filling 70,000 square feet with 145 miles of lights, running from Sullivan’s Mill to the American Plunge—that’s 1.5 million lights in total! And, new for 2023, the sky canopy in Valley Road is filled with a towering bell display, gleaming bright red and gold.

Broadway-style productions include the long-standing fan-favorite A Dickens’ Christmas Carol, performing each day with an original musical adaptation of the famous classic by Charles Dickens, with elaborate sets and visual effects, vanishing ghosts, revolving scenery and pyrotechnic special effects. Across the park, Coming Home for Christmas features a live band with a talented cast of singers and dancers celebrating the season's traditions.

The most famous reindeer of all leads Rudolph’s Holly Jolly™ Christmas Light Parade with numerous colorful costumed characters, including Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, 14-foot moose characters, 12-foot tall elves and 10-foot candy canes, plus penguins, elves and a troupe of marching wooden soldiers all winding through The City.
    Picture
Additional festive entertainment includes a 50-year anniversary celebration of Frontier Fa-La-La Follies in the Silver Dollar Saloon, the kid’s show Tinker Junior’s Toy Shop with a 12-foot talking tree, the musical Living Nativity and a chance to meet Kris Kringle himself in Santa Claus Lane!

The park’s restaurants and eateries change their offerings, too, with wassail, hot chocolate and warm apple cider served in various locations, along with holiday buffet options choose from, including Prime Rib and a traditional turkey with dressing dinner.

First Emperor Penguin Chick in Over a Decade Hatched at SeaWorld San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (October 25, 2023) – On September 12, 2023, an Emperor penguin chick was hatched for the first time since 2010 at SeaWorld San Diego. SeaWorld San Diego is the only place on the Western Hemisphere where Emperor penguins can be found, making the hatching a rare and celebratory event. Emperor penguins are currently listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act due to the loss of Antarctic sea ice and rising sea levels caused by climate change.

“Bringing this chick into the world and ensuring her well-being and survival around the clock has been a very rewarding process for me and the entire SeaWorld Aviculture team,” said Justin Brackett, Curator of Birds at SeaWorld San Diego. “Every decision regarding her well-being was made with the upmost care and consideration by our expert team and veterinary staff. We are looking forward to learning more about her and watching her unique personality develop as she continues to grow.”
A recent scientific study found a record low for Antarctic sea ice coverage that is adversely impacting Emperor penguin populations. Four of the five Emperor penguin colonies studied experienced total breeding failure due to the lack of sea ice.  Emperor penguins are dependent on sea ice as their habitat for breeding, raising chicks, and molting.  Newly hatched chicks lack waterproof feathers required to swim or survive in the ocean.

Katie Propp, Chief Operations Officer at Penguins International said, “Disappearing sea ice is becoming more frequent as our planet continues to warm and is having a devastating effect on penguin populations. The good news is that there is a future for this species if we take action to fight climate change and support organizations like SeaWorld that provide human care and maintain genetic biodiversity for Emperor penguins in their facilities. Seeing these majestic animals up close and educating the public about the threats they face in the wild is paramount to encourage the public to do something to save their wild counterparts.

SeaWorld San Diego is the only place in the western hemisphere outside of Antarctica where people can see Emperor penguins. Penguin Encounter is home to a colony of 17 Emperor penguins, as well as 300 other penguins including King, Gentoo, Macaroni, Chinstrap and Adélie penguins. The exhibit is a 25-degree, snow-filled habitat where the resident penguins can swim and interact within the colony. A colony of warm-weather Magellanic penguins, native to South America, live in a habitat outside the Encounter. Penguin Encounter is also home to nearly 90 puffins and murres.

For more information, park hours and to purchase tickets, visit SeaWorldSanDiego.comFollow SeaWorld San Diego on Facebook and Instagram for the latest park updates and information.

Happy Haunts Materialize in First-Ever Bar Inspired by The Haunted Mansion Debuting on the Disney Treasure in 2024

CELEBRATION, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2023) – Today, at the height of spooky season, Disney Cruise Line reveals the Haunted Mansion Parlor, an all-new bar inspired by the iconic Disney Parks attraction, The Haunted Mansion. Foolish mortals will sip spirited craft cocktails among 999 happy haunts for the first time inside this new venue on board the Disney Treasure when it sets sail in December 2024.
The one-of-a-kind experience will invite guests to partake in the next chapter of the Haunted Mansion, focused on the story of a jovial captain who entered the ghostly realm after a disastrous dinner with his beloved fiancé. A custom musical arrangement inspired by the attraction’s original score arranged and adapted by composer Shruti Kumar and Walt Disney Imagineering will set the stage for an ever-escalating anthology of illusions that immerses guests into the mysterious lore of the Haunted Mansion.

Legendary characters from Haunted Mansion attractions at Disney Parks around the world, as well as new seafaring arrivals, will come out to socialize in mysterious ways throughout the experience. The venue will follow the nostalgic art style of the original 1969 Disney Parks classic, and true to the original attraction, the Haunted Mansion Parlor will blend humor with Disney’s own distinct brand of spooky storytelling.

The design of the Haunted Mansion Parlor will be reminiscent of a first-class drawing room from the classic cruise liners of the golden age, invoking inspiration from the original Haunted Mansion with a nautical twist. The lounge will include tributes to the Disney Parks attractions, from the iconic purple wallpaper framed by wooden finishes to a mantel clock atop an inviting fireplace to a distinctive purple armchair tucked in the corner. Guests will also encounter a few new ghoulish faces in a portrait gallery depicting the Disney Treasure’s own ghostly residents.
    Deliciously Chilling Drinks

At the Haunted Mansion Parlor, guests will sample from a selection of ghostly cocktails that capture the spirit of the famed theme park attraction, The Haunted Mansion.
    • Blood orange and sour cherry flavors will harmonize in a shimmering zero proof cocktail served in a specialty mug aptly titled, Sympathetic Libations.
    • The Ghoulish Delight will be an ube-flavored treat that everyone will be able to enjoy. The drink, with hints of sweetness and nuttiness, will incorporate decadent ube fudge, oat milk and tapioca pearls in a purple concoction garnished with a gummy eyeball and ube glitter.
    • A spooky twist on a classic margarita, presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke, will be another signature drink at the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Topped with a lemon salt foam, this tequila-based cocktail will contain a secret message, only to be revealed by black light.
    Mysterious Merchandise

The new bar venue will introduce an exclusive array of haunted homewares and spooky souvenirs to the shops onboard the Disney Treasure:
    • The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box will be a keepsake inspired by the eerie music box that will play a melodic soundtrack inside the Haunted Mansion Parlor.  As the rumors go, this mysterious box belonged to the captain’s bride-to-be and only opens in the presence of malevolent spirits.
    • Honoring the memorable grandfather clock seen in the original Disney Parks attraction, the Haunted Parlor Mantle Clock will loom over the fireplace inside the venue, instigating mysterious happenings when it strikes 13. As a part of the new merchandise collection, Disney Cruise Line guests will be able to bring home their very own mantle clock, just like the one from the parlor.
    • Featuring the same octopus design from the bar’s entrance onboard the Disney Treasure, the Haunted Mansion Parlor Sculpted Mug will depict an aura of intrigue and will be accented with a variety of sea life, including a hidden Mickey Mouse-shaped barnacle.
    • The Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror will allow guests to take home a piece of the magic, offering a ghoulish surprise to unsuspecting users when the hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear.

Disney Cruise Line and the Haunted Mansion Parlor’s happy haunts are eager to welcome foolish mortals to this spirted space on board the Disney Treasure in December 2024. To learn more about Disney Cruise Line or to book a Disney Treasure vacation, guests can visit disneycruise.com, call Disney Cruise Line at 888-325-2500 or contact their travel agent.

    with modern beats.
    New ‘Fits for the Fete

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and friends are donning new outfits exclusively for this glitzy celebration. They invite guests to do the same and join them for photos in a colorful setting from the golden age of Hollywood. Disney art directors, show producers and designers worked together to land on just the right combination of colors and fabric, inspired by palettes of the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also once again present Sunset Seasons Greetings nightly throughout the
season. Each evening The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is magically transformed into an array of holiday
scenes as snow falls along Sunset Boulevard.
    Picture
Fractal Frenzy: NEW Frozen Holiday Surprise at Magic Kingdom Park

At Magic Kingdom Park, “Frozen” friends from Arendelle are conjuring up something remarkable for the
holidays. The new Frozen Holiday Surprise brings together Olaf and more than 100 of his Snowgie siblings
who attempt to add festive decor to Cinderella Castle. With Anna and Kristoff at her side, Queen Elsa adds
sparkling finishing touches, transforming the castle into a shimmering crystallized palace – a look that will
    remain throughout each evening.

Bringing this new spectacle to life is no small feat, as lighting designers, video technicians, composers and a
full orchestra worked together to create this enchanting new entertainment experience.

Debuting Nov. 7, “Frozen Holiday Surprise” will occur nightly during the holiday season.

Families and kids of all ages can also enjoy Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Now in its 40th year,
this specially ticketed event has become a holiday tradition for many. Featuring a dazzling parade, fireworks,
complimentary sweet treats and so much more, it’s warm-hearted, family-friendly fun at Magic Kingdom on 25 select nights Nov. 9-Dec. 22.
Delicious Doings: EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays

For an international holiday flavor, EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays presented by AdventHealth is the place to be. The stage is set with spectacular decor around every corner, and entertainment fills the air from celebrity narrators reciting the Christmas story each night to time-honored traditions from countries around the world.

And no holiday celebration would be complete without tasty treats.

The festival culinary team has been hard at work for nearly a year, dreaming up the menu and testing new
recipes. More than 15 Holiday Kitchens will celebrate the diversity of holiday traditions with comfort foods
    that inspire warm memories.

Because ensuring a delicious encounter with every bite is top of mind for the team, thorough testing is
imperative before massive production begins. How massive? The culinary team has historically baked more
than 250,000 cookies in just five weeks for the event’s signature Holiday Cookie Stroll.

This year will bring several “firsts” to the festival. Luminous the Sympony of Us is an all-new fireworks-and laser spectacular that will debut December 5, 2023. And, with EPCOT being home to The Walt Disney
Company’s 100th anniversary celebration, guests will find beautiful holiday decor at the park entrance
    commemorating the Disney100 celebration.

EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays begins Nov. 24.
Comfort & Joy: Gingerbread Galore at Disney Resort Hotels

Guests often gaze in fascination at the larger-than-life gingerbread displays that appear each holiday season
at Disney Resort Hotels. Culinary teams spend up to seven months planning and building the displays. For
example, the culinary team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa starts mixing fragrant dough in May,
letting it cure a full two months before it is baked. Individual shapes, from shingles to Mickey cookies, are
baked and decorated throughout the summer and then stored for “construction” in November. The house
itself takes three days to build.

This year, guests will once again be able to enjoy the stunning works of culinary art – including a new display – in six resort locations:
    • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
    • Disney’s Beach Club Resort
    • Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
    • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
    • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
    • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort (featuring a new display)
More Merriment: Holidays Around the “World”

Disney Springs is THE place to shop, dine and play amidst a wonderland of beautiful decor and culinary
delights. The 120-acre entertainment, retail and dining district will be in full holiday swing beginning Nov. 10. Those seeking festive fun should save time to visit Santa Claus at Once Upon a Toy and take in the Disney
Springs Christmas Tree Stroll presented by AdventHealth. Nineteen Disney-themed trees will be on display
throughout the four “neighborhoods” that make up Disney Springs. Plan at least one nighttime visit to
    experience snowfall in Town Center.

Cheerful decor and festive flotillas are holiday highlights at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. In
addition to meeting with favorite Disney characters and Santa himself, guests can interact with a Merry
Menagerie of life-size, artisan-sculpted animal puppets daily on Discovery Island. The park’s iconic Tree of Life also awakens each evening with a colorful tableau of wintry tales accompanied by a familiar musical score.
Making Magic: Walt Disney World Holiday Services

It takes more than Santa’s elves to transform the four theme parks, resort hotels, Disney Springs and other
locations across the Walt Disney World Resort with dazzling decor. That incredible feat is the work of Holiday Services.

This team of designers, decorators and other professionals ready more than 600 trees and 1,700 wreaths and
hang nearly nine miles of garland each year. In fact, as soon as one holiday season wraps up, the Holiday
Services team begins preparing for the next.

Whether creating new items or making sure that existing decor remains merry and bright, these talented
specialists ensure that the entire resort sparkles.
Cheery Mementos to Remember the Magic

There’s no better way to remember a visit to Walt Disney World than with the perfect souvenir, and holiday
merchandise is a great way to show some holiday spirit or to keep the cheerful vibes alive after guests return home. Special holiday-themed attire, accessories, home decor and more can be purchased throughout the resort, with special collections available for both Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.
