![]() There was so much amazing stuff to see at ScareLA last week I've seriously started this update about 5 times trying to figure out just where to begin. There was so much packed into the 2 day event that it would simply be impossible to cover it all. And that's just talking about the panels, never mind the show floor and the fact we could have easily dropped some serious cash that would have impeded our ability to actually live in our house or eat food for the next month. * Written by Gregg Condon As hard as it will be to break down the event, we're of course going to try and do so. But first off, a HUGE thanks and kudos to the ScareLA team of Lora, David, Rick and Johanna for putting on an AMAZING event. Obviously these 4 couldn't do the event without 100's upon 100's of amazing volunteers who were great. In addition to going to "cover" the event we had an amazing time. The entrance to ScareLA, not sure if we're in the right place. =) Before the event even began it was obvious this isn't your normal "Con" and we were among our people. The first panel of the event was a great Hatbox Ghost panel talking about how the new animatronic came to be. The show floor was AMAZING and much more well organized and welcoming than the fan booths at this past weekends D23. Below the slider show, which was awesome. Our friends at Six Flags Magic Mountain's Fright Fest had a great booth. Be sure to check out the details for our Fright Fest Event on October 2nd and get your tickets. (Shameless Plug) Love just walking around the floor and seeing these guys. One of the coolest panels was with all our friends from Fright Fest, Queen Mary's Dark Harbor, Knott's Scary Farm and Halloween Horror Nights moderated by Rick West of Theme Park Adventure. To see all of them just getting together and just talking about how they create their events is just great. Nothing was really announced other than some new scare zones at Fright Fest, but it was still one of our favorite panels of the weekend. One of the coolest things at the event was our friends at Evil Twin Studios showing off their Vault of Darkness. Be sure to check out our full walk-through below. More from the show floor. You could pretty much purchase everything you need to start your own home haunt from Fog Machines, Animatronics, displays, tombstones ... so much that we could have taken out a loan if they were available. =) The last panel on Saturday was for Halloween Horror Nights. We didn't have a great spot so don't have too many pictures, but you can check out the full release of what was announced here. We will say, we are very excited about Halloween coming back to HHN. The 2009 version is still my favorite maze they've ever done and I'm interested to see how they improve it for this year. Sunday Morning the first panel was for Queen Mary's Dark Harbor. Unfortunately this panel wasn't as highly attended as other panels which is a shame because the Ringmaster came out and put on an AMAZING show. The amazing Ringmaster. One of the things that makes Dark Harbor so unique is their talent and the fact that they get a LOT of freedom, more than any of the other major haunts in Southern California. And the Ringmaster definitely brought it during the panel. The Mazes coming to Dark Harbor. Click any of the pictures below to see a larger version. New this year ... And of course the awesome VIP Experiences Be sure to check out Dark Harbor which returns on October 1. We'll be there opening night for sure!! Last but not least was the Knott's panel led by our good friend Jeff Tucker of the 91 Reasons Podcast. New this year, Knott's Spooky Farm during the day and not just in Camp Snoopy. Dates for this years event ... The Scary Farm pass is back!!! Wonder how long it will take them to just have these as an add-on to the normal Knott's pass. Hopefully next year!! Gunslinger's Grave is back, but this time Werewolves are returning to Scary Farm, which is awesome!!! The Toothfairy is back, and it will have Skeleton Key this year!! First new maze, The Dead of Winter which will tell the story of the Snow Queen. And no, no "Frozen" characters will be sacrificed in this maze. Because I asked Gus. =) Be sure to check out the full press release regarding the Knott's announcement here and be sure you are following along because next Wednesday, August 26 we'll be at Knott's for the reveal of the rest of Scary Farm. Lastly, we'll leave you with some pictures and our video of some of the amazing mini haunts from the event. Basically these were 2-3 minute walk-through's of a scene or two from some local haunts, or even a mini-show. Basically something to get you interested in these haunts to make you visit them in October, and it really worked because we can't wait to check these out. We hope you enjoyed our look at ScareLA. Dates for 2016 have already been announced so be sure to check out their site at www.scarela.com for all of the details.
