 Ronald McDonald House Charities Receives $50,000 on Williams, Elliott and Niven’s Behalf From the Family Theme Park! CARLSBAD, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2023) – Fireworks filled the sky and snow flurried onto the crowd as Hallmark stars Brennan Elliott, Barbara Niven, and Ashley Williams helped LEGO® Santa pull the switch to light the family theme parks brand-new three-story-tall LEGO® Christmas tree during the 21st annual tree lighting ceremony officially kicking off Holidays at LEGOLAND® California Resort. At the ceremony, 9-year-old Amor Bastidas, who’s younger brother is being treated for a brain tumor at Rady Children’s Hospital, helped accept a $50,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities on behalf of Elliott, Niven, and Williams from LEGOLAND California. Bastidas and her family stay at San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House when they travel from Imperial Valley to San Diego for her brother’s treatments. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides “a home away from home” to families who have a critically ill or injured child in a nearby local hospital and keeps them close to one another during a medical crisis. Bastidas enjoyed the Park’s festive holiday décor with her family before heading to LEGOLAND California’s newly unveiled 35-foot-tall LEGO Christmas tree created from more than 364,481 LEGO® and DUPLO® bricks, for the evening’s festivities. Prior to pulling the switch that turned on 40 LEGO® candles and more than 500 LED lights, Elliott, Niven, Williams, and Bastidas were presented a special LEGO® dinosaur ornament as an invitation to return when the Park unveils its new land, Dino Valley, that is planned to open in spring of 2024. Guests were treated to a first look of the Park’s new LEGO® World Parade launching next summer and a special look at Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas movies, including Elliott and Niven’s new original Miracles of Christmas movie on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, “Ms. Christmas Comes to Town.” Elliott (“UnREAL”) and Niven (“One Life to Live”) are both known for their roles on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ popular film franchise, “Crossword Mysteries” as well as their numerous starring roles in Hallmark’s beloved movies during the holiday season and year-round. Williams is best known for her starring role on “The Jim Gaffigan Show” and her role as Victoria in the hit series, “How I Met Your Mother.” Williams has starred in more than 11 Hallmark original movies including the most recent Hallmark Channel premiere, “Notes of Autumn.” The annual tree lighting ceremony is part of the Park’s winter celebration, Holidays at LEGOLAND California Resort. Guests can feel the LEGO cheer on select dates now through Jan. 7 with elaborate décor, twinkling lights, holiday treats, falling snow and live entertainment. Throughout the event, guests can take Christmas card photos in front of the larger-than-life LEGO wreath, sing and dance along at the Jingle Jamboree and meet and greet with new LEGO® characters, LEGO Snowman and LEGO Reindeer.
