Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Will Unwrap It’s Biggest and Brightest Holiday Event Starting Nov. 28

New WinterFest holiday event to feature added festive décor, dazzling live entertainment, seasonal treats and world-class rides and animal experiences​

VALLEJO, Calif. — Nov. 17, 2025 — Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, America’s Only Wildlife, Marine Life and Thrill Ride Park, will unwrap its brightest and most spectacular winter festival Nov. 28. This year marks the park’s 18th year offering merriment and festive fun, and now it’s bigger and better with the debut of WinterFest. An original at sister park California’s Great America, WinterFest fan favorites will move to and mingle with Discovery Kingdom’s holiday traditions for a super seasonal celebration that will feature more decorations, live entertainment, activities and treats for guests to enjoy than ever before. In fact, WinterFest has proven to be such a holiday hit that it was nominated as one of the Best Theme Park Holiday Events by USA Today, with voting open now through noon on Dec. 1. This year, WinterFest will feature millions of twinkling lights, photos with Santa, stunning holiday displays, themed live entertainment, delicious seasonal food and a limited-time menu of unique feasts along with the park’s iconic array of world-class rides and animal experiences.

WinterFest will operate select days, Nov. 28, 2025 through Jan. 4, 2026. New and time-honored traditions included with park admission are:

  • NEW! Hometown Square – Enjoy live entertainment and observe in wonder the towering 70-foot Christmas tree which will be the focus of the nightly Tree Lighting Ceremony;
  • NEW! Gingerbread Forest – The sweet sights of gingerbread and other sweet treats everywhere you look;
  • NEW! Toy Land - Find larger-than-life Nutcrackers, dolls and toys of all kinds ready for Santa to deliver;
  • NEW! Arctic Alley - Dazzling twinkling lights, a giant snowman and penguin figures to make this a cool area not-to-be-missed;
  • NEW! Candy Cane Lane – Candy canes of all sizes can be encountered here with a festive selection of limited-time food and beverage options to enjoy with live entertainment.

  • NEW! Tree Lighting Ceremony – The holiday season promises to be merry and bright as the park celebrates with a spectacular Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event invites everyone to kick off the evening's holiday celebration with dancers, singers and an enormous Christmas tree;

  • NEW! The Mistletones – Enchanting songstresses sing classic holiday tunes from the 1950s;
