The Farewell Season will honor more than 50 years of memories and traditions that have brought Bay Area guests together.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 5, 2026 — Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: FUN) today announced that California's Great America in Santa Clara, Calif. will celebrate its final year of operation in 2027 with a Farewell Season honoring more than 50 years of memories, traditions and iconic attractions. Throughout 2027, Bay Area guests will have a final opportunity to revisit favorite attractions, spend time with family and friends and celebrate a destination that has been part of so many family outings, celebrations and milestones.
Since opening in 1976 as part of the nation's Bicentennial celebration, the park in Santa Clara, Calif. has welcomed tens of millions of guests and become a cherished Bay Area landmark.
"For more than five decades, this Santa Clara theme park has brought people together, created family traditions and served as the backdrop for unforgettable memories," said Dave Vosejpka, park manager of California's Great America. "The Farewell Season is an opportunity for generations of Bay Area guests to return, spend time with family and friends, and revisit the attractions and traditions that have made the park in Santa Clara, California such a meaningful part of the community."
As guests come together for one final season, the park will honor its legacy and celebrate the place it has held in the lives of so many guests through experiences in the park and stories shared across its digital and social channels.
Guests can make the most of the Farewell Season with a 2027 Gold or Prestige Pass, which includes unlimited visits throughout the final season and valuable passholder benefits.
Gold and Prestige Passholders can also enjoy access to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Calif., where families can get up close with incredible animals, discover marine life and enjoy a full day of attractions together in one unique destination.
The 2027 Farewell Season will begin in March and conclude on Labor Day, Sept. 6, 2027. As previously announced in 2022, the park's land lease expires in June 2028 and the company opted not to renew. The Farewell Season provides an opportunity for guests, team members and the community to come together and celebrate more than 50 years of memories, traditions and experiences before the park's final closure.
