Welcome to our detailed look at opening weekend of Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood 2026 including pics and videos of every house!
This years event is truly epic in every way with some amazing houses and scenes/effects in those houses we have not seen at Halloween events before. In the case of Sinners, some effects that I'm sure we'll see spreading throughout the Haunt industry in the years to come.
Before we dive in, make sure you check out our HHN Hollywood Survival Guide. We just made some big updates after opening weekend!
Let's head into the fog of HHN Hollywood!
Say hello to your Park Journey Hosts for Halloween Season 2026!
Halloween Season is like a family reunion with all of our spooky friends.
Barry Under Your Bed is ready!
It's always such a privilege to bring you all the Halloween fun!
Absolutely love the new fire tower and HHN sign! More on that later.
Haunted Houses
We started our night on the lower lot with Stranger Things 5
We experienced this house on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday and it got progressively better. Looking forward to seeing it get even better throughout HHN.
Up next was a return visit with our friends the Killer Klowns. While this is a pure repeat of the previous two Killer Klowns houses (I think it may have still been a "maze" the first year it was here) we love it. It's just so much fun.
Believe it or not this was one of my most anticipated houses of this years event, and it did not disappoint. It's such a fun concept and it's executed very well. We really enjoyed it.
Easily my most anticipated house of this years event (along with Sinners) and it absolutely did not disappoint.
Story time: I grew up in the 80's, and I was what you would call a "hesher" at the time. It's basically what people called fans of Heavy Metal Music. I still don't know what it really means or who came up with it. Was it just a SoCal thing?
I'm not going to rewrite history and claim that I was/am the biggest fan of Ozzy Osbourne. I certainly enjoy his music, and have owned most of his albums at one time or another, but I never saw him live, never went to OzzFest, etc.
I was always more a fan of progressive rock/metal than I was of straight heavy metal. But still, Ozzy has always had a permanent place on my workout playlist even to this day. So I'm familiar with his life and music for sure.
All that being said, this house hit me emotionally in a way I wasn't expecting. To see it all come to life in this way, mixing two of my favorite things (Music and Horror) in such a seamless way was absolutely breathtaking.
They've done HHN houses based on music before. Black Sabbath. Alice Cooper (still one of my favorite all time HHN houses). And of course all of the houses featuring Slash.
But this one just hit different. Maybe because Ozzy passed last year. The amount of Easter Eggs and special touches in this house is truly amazing. You can definitely tell it was a labor of love for the HHN Team.
Thank you to the HHN Hollywood Team for creating something truly special for this years event. It's easily in my top 10 HHN Hollywood mazes/houses of all time. Maybe top 5. It's that good.
Time to head up to the upper lot and the Curious George Lot for our next two houses. Starting with Evil Dead Burn. Unlike Ozzy, this was actually my least anticipated house of this years event. I love Evil Dead, but Burn was my least favorite of the films so far.
While this was my least favorite house at this years event I really do have to give it up for the talent in this house. They really bring it. The house does seem a bit on the short side as it has quite a few very large rooms. That said, it's enjoyable and I'm looking forward to going through it a few more times this season for sure.
Hellraiser was another of my more anticipated houses of this years event. While I think the films themselves are just "okay", from a horror perspective you can't deny the impact Pinhead and his cohorts have had on horror over the past 40 years. And it translates into an HHN house VERY well.
The Cenobites are definitely out to get you and while there are more "jump" scares in this house than you'll find in the Hellraiser movies, it definitely works. It looks like the days of more moody non-jump scare houses like Crimson Peak from about a decade ago are things of the past. HHN is a machine now. And a very finely tuned one.
Our second to last house at HHN Hollywood is Killceañera (Music by Slash). I think we're contractually obligated to include that?
One of the biggest things I've been seeing about this house is it's basically "Monstrous 4", and honestly, that is completely valid. I think a lot of people (ourselves included) had a different idea of what this house was going to be. Many of us were thinking maybe something like Carrie, but at a quinceañera. And it is definitely not that. Still, the maze is a lot of fun and it's great to see some of our favorite characters back. But it's definitely Monstrous 4. So adjust your expectations.
The last house we'll be covering in our HHN Opening Weekend update is Sinners. And like Ozzy, I definitely have some thoughts about this house.
If Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness was the perfect encapsulation of his life and career, then Sinners is the perfect encapsulation of that amazing film.
From the moment you step inside the house you are transported into the film, the build up to the actual "horror" part of the house is absolutely seamless. You can tell the designers really got it. And the cast is absolutely flawless.
Terror Tram
For this years Terror Tram we are blessed to spend it celebrating Artmas with Art The Clown. While the layout of the Terror Tram is familiar to most everybody at this point, this years is something special and is a LOT of fun. Judging by the wait times on opening weekend we aren't alone in that thought.
If you've been following our site for awhile you'll know that prior to last years HHN I was not looking forward to Terrifier at all. The movies aren't for me. But you can't deny that Art The Clown really fits HHN and the terror tram.
Log Bunny! That said, I do feel they missed out not calling this "Terrifier Tram" and not having an Art The Clown/Killer Klowns mash-up house. Maybe next year?
Scare Zones
I'll be honest, due to the rain on Sunday and being absolutely soaked and leaving by 7:15 after early entry, we don't have as much from the Scare Zones as we'd like. But we'll be back Thursday night and Saturday night. So stay tuned for lots more Scare Zone fun! Here's a taste for now.
The Purge: Dangerous Waters
Finally we have a quick look at the lone show at HHN Hollywood 2026, The Purge: Dangerous Waters. If you've seen this show over the past few years you've seen the 2026 show. Still, it's nice to have a spot to sit down and chill for a bit while enjoying some fire and stunts.
Alright, that's going to wrap it up for our initial update from HHN Hollywood 2026. We have quite a few more visits planned so we'll have more updates for the scare zones and food and more over the next couple of months. Thanks for following along!
