ANAHEIM, Calif. (May 31, 2023) – As leaves begin to change color and the Halloween spirit creeps in, Disneyland Resort will revel in the arrival of fall with returning celebrations beginning Sept. 1, 2023 – featuring an assortment of fall fun and fare for family and friends.

Materializing Sept. 1-Oct. 31, 2023, Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort will feature dozens of new and returning seasonal treats across the resort and debut bewitching outfits for Mickey Mouse and his pals at Disneyland Park. Haunted Mansion Holiday will continue its annual tradition with another deliciously diabolical gingerbread house on display in the ballroom.

Celebrating the spirit of Día de los Muertos, eternal love and the everlasting bonds of family, Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure Park, Sept. 1-Nov. 2, 2023, will serve up mouthwatering Mexican cuisine and present beloved entertainment featuring characters and songs from Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award®-winning “Coco.”
Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party returns to Disney California Adventure this year for more nights than ever before, bringing rare characters, villains and more on 25 select evenings between Sept. 5 and Oct. 31, 2023. Magic Key holders will have the opportunity to purchase from a select amount of pre-sale tickets beginning June 27, before tickets are available to the general public on June 29.*

Halloween Time at the Disneyland ResorT

Spirited seasonal décor and characters dressed in Halloween looks will appear in both theme parks, presenting countless photo opportunities. The Main Street Pumpkin Festival brings a horde of hand-carved gourds to Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Park, including the giant Mickey Mouse Pumpkin. At Disney California Adventure Park, Halloween decorations and projections evoke an air of eeriness in Buena Vista Street. Plus, Cars Land becomes Radiator Screams, where the residents and establishments are decked out in their Haul-O-Ween best.

At Disneyland Park, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and some of their pals will cast a ghostly glow with new outfits made with luminescent fabrics and bat details. Jack Skellington and his friends from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” will wreck the halls of Haunted Mansion Holiday once again. The attraction’s ballroom will showcase the latest rendition of the annual bespoke gingerbread house.

Each night through Oct. 31, the supernatural “Halloween Screams” nighttime spectacular will summon projections, special effects and music on Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, Rivers of America and in front of “it’s a small world.” MagicBand+ adds another devious dimension to the show with ominous illuminations and shivering vibrations. On select nights, fireworks will conjure in the skies above. To make way for “Halloween Screams,” the nighttime spectacular “Wondrous Journeys” is scheduled to make its last performance of the year on Aug. 31.

At Disney California Adventure Park, three attractions will undergo seasonal transformations with Halloween spins – and drops. The family-friendly Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in Cars Land opts for a happily hair-raising soundtrack to become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. The nearby Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters takes guests on a wicked whirl as Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. For the first time, the resident “car-acter” Guido will sport a ghoulish “car-stume” as he welcomes guests to the Casa Della Tires.

As the afternoon winds down each day, the thrills go up at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! in Avengers Campus. Unique to Halloween Time, the attraction transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, a scream-worthy adventure to save Groot from creatures running amok in The Collector’s Fortress.

From Sept. 8 through Nov. 1, Disney character-themed pumpkins will be hidden around the Downtown Disney District for Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit; with the purchase of a map from participating locations, guests can commemorate their search with a collectible keepsake.** Downtown Disney District will also feature fall décor, entertainment and special offerings from select locations.

Dining locations across the Disneyland Resort will serve up frightfully flavorful food and beverages, such pumpkin fritters and a Halloween cake. This year’s array of Halloween merchandise includes apparel, home décor and collectibles with in-trend designs.

Plaza de la Familia and tributes to Día de los Muerto

Honoring the Mexican traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the vibrant Plaza de la Familia cultural experience once again brings brilliant marigolds, heartwarming live entertainment and family crafts to Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure Park from Sept. 1 through Nov. 2. Paradise Garden Grill will present a celebratory menu inspired by Mexican cuisine.

Throughout the experience, characters and music from Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award®-winning “Coco” highlight the everlasting bonds of family. Several times per day, “A Musical Celebration of Coco” presents a talented company of Folklórico dancers, plus Mariachi singers and musicians, that recount Miguel’s adventure to the Land of the Dead. Guests can also take photos with Miguel, enjoy Mariachi music, add remembrance notes to the Memory Wall, and more.

Over in Cars Land, Ramone will honor Día de los Muertos at his detailing shop with an “ofrenda” celebrating the life and career of the town’s good friend, Doc Hudson.

Disneyland Park will pay tribute to Día de los Muertos with its traditional, vibrant display in Frontierland, adorned with marigolds and banners of papel picado. The colorful photo location also features a musical trio of larger-than-life skeleton figurines.

Disneyland Update - Last Days of Splash Mountain, Pride Merchandise and More

It's time for one of our very rare Disneyland updates. Typically when we go to Disneyland we aren't there for updates, just to enjoy our day. There are so many Disneyland Blogs/Vlogs out there most of our Disneyland updates get lost. So we reserve them for only a couple of times per year. Here is one of them. Enjoy!! =)
    Picture

Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth

    Picture

They had a special flag retreat ceremony for Memorial Day, more on that below.

    Picture

It seemed everybody was heading for Splash Mountain, we were not, we decided to rope drop Rise of the Resistance, something we don't typically do.

    Picture

In fact, it's so rare that we went the completely wrong way through Critter Country and didn't realize the line started way back here. Oops.

    Picture

Still, it was only about a 45 minute wait (vs the posted 85) so no problem.

    Picture

Also rode Indy for the first time since the refurbishment, so great!

    Picture

Disappointed the "news of the world" stuff didn't come back. Would be great if Disney would put it online or something.

    Picture
    Picture

Over near It's a Small World, the Live Action Little Mermaid photo up is available. It was quite popular when we walked by later.

    Picture

Our first time in Toontown since all of the walls came down. We love it. Still too many kids. =)

    Picture

    Picture

We also rode Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. We love this ride SO much.

    Picture

Love all of the little jokes in the queue.

    Picture

I'm not usually one for conspiracy's, but when a posted 50 minute wait is only 15 minutes, there may be something to the Lightning Lane one.

    Picture

Some Pride merchandise has also shown up in both parks. Love the collection this year.

A new Little Mermaid Spirit Jersey

    Picture

And this awesome shirt! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for this in the outlet, I can't imagine it's that popular but I think I need it.

    Picture

Also took a final ride on Splash Mountain.

    Picture

I've never been the biggest fan of this attraction and always found it overrated. I got yelled at for saying that yesterday. I also think other attractions are overrated.

    Picture

But I did enjoy my last ride. Video and pictures of my last ride are below.

With Tiana's restaurant being on the other side of Haunted Mansion, and the entrance to Splash Mountain being a couple of football fields away, well, we'll see. We headed over to DCA for some drinks and snacks in the afternoon. The watermelon margarita was very tasty. We got Steppenwolf for I think the first time, and had a great group in our lift! Is this new, or am I just not that perceptive? (probably the latter) Back at Disneyland, we caught the end of the Flag Retreat. Which included some low level fireworks. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Park Journey (@park_journey) We had planned on staying later in the evening, but while DCA was pleasantly absent of crowds, in the few hours we left Disneyland, the park just got swamped. So we decided to head out after doing some shopping.  As of right now we have plans to be back at the park for the first day of Rogers: The Musical. So we may actually have two Disneyland updates in a month. That's gonna be some kind of record for us. =)  We hope you enjoyed the update!
