    Universal City, Calif., Orlando, Fla. (July 26, 2022) – For the first time ever, multi award-winning artist The Weeknd joins forces with Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights to inspire all-new, terrifying haunted houses based on his record-breaking “After Hours” album. Beginning September 2 at Universal Orlando Resort and on September 8 at Universal Studios Hollywood, guests will spiral into the twisted mind of this mysterious artist to experience “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare.”

    Global phenomenon, The Weeknd, is renowned for his groundbreaking music that blends daring, provocative lyrics with innovative sounds and ominous undertones. “After Hours” is The Weeknd’s fourth consecutive number one album and has spawned multiple chart-topping hits, including “Too Late,” “Heartless,” “In Your Eyes” and the wildly popular single “Blinding Lights” – which is ranked as the #1 Greatest Hot 100 Hit of All Time by Billboard. This fall, select tracks from the riveting album are being reimagined as a horror movie soundtrack for the outrageously haunting experience at Halloween Horror Nights.

    The dark undercurrent behind The Weeknd’s enigmatic persona will permeate the all-new Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses on both coasts. With the eerie sounds of “After Hours” reverberating throughout the experience, guests will step into a surreal living nightmare filled with grotesque characters and themes inspired by The Weeknd’s music and short films. As they’re stalked by slashers, bandaged maniacs, gruesome toad-like creatures and other unfathomable horrors from the mind of the artist, guests will be challenged to survive the night while trapped within the terrifying, unexpected world of “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare” – a place that only exists in The Weeknd’s vivid imagination and from which one may never escape.

    “I always wanted my own Halloween Horror Nights haunted house as Halloween has always been significant to my music, so this is a total dream come to life. I feel like my music videos have served as a launching pad for a collaboration like this, and I cannot wait for people to experience this madness!” said Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye.

    “We are thrilled to take guests inside of the mind of The Weeknd, who is a Halloween Horror Nights fan himself,” said John Murdy, Executive Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.  “This is an unprecedented haunted house that is going to shatter the expectations of our guests and immerse them in an unforgettable experience that is equally unexpected and terrifying,” added Charles Gray, Senior Show Director for Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Orlando Resort.

    All tickets are on sale now for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort, which begins Friday, September 2 – including online savings on single-night tickets and a variety of Frequent Fear Pass options that allow guests to experience the horror on multiple nights. Guests can also stay close to the screams with vacation packages that include hotel accommodations, one-night admission to the event, tickets to all three Universal Orlando theme parks, and benefits exclusive to Universal Orlando hotel guests, such as Early Park Admission to the theme parks during the day and access to a dedicated Halloween Horror Nights entry gate at night. Plus, guests can take their visit to the next level with upgrades such as the guided R.I.P. Tour, Express Pass, the daytime, lights-on Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour and Scareactor Dining – where guests can fuel up for the fear with a themed dinner buffet and special photo ops with scareactors on select nights. Annual passholder discounts on select products are also now available, and Florida residents can save on vacation packages when they stay two nights or longer. Good afternoon from Disney’s Animal Kingdom! It’s been a while since we’ve had some WDW content, and we thought we’d let Disney Genie do the planning today. Let’s see what kind of adventure this takes us on…

    We already had lunch, so skipping Flame Tree, but Finding Nemo sounds like a good idea. Except it’s raining and we don’t feel like waiting an hour, so it’s the 2:30 show instead.

    Picture

    Finding Nemo: The Musical is a shell of what it was pre-Covid, but the performers are outstanding and most of the fantastic songs remain.

    South American tour groups have returned. Nature is healing.

    Genie has updated the selections. I already found Nemo… rain is holding me back from venturing over to safari but hey, I’ll give it a chance.

    Picture

    Took a detour at the Restarantosaurus Lounge for a drink, a hidden gem, where cast member Jimmy is the real MVP.

    Picture

    Genie tells me to see Nemo at 4:30 but I already did. Park offerings are limited. Tell me what I should do and I’ll do it.

    Picture

    With pretty much no wait and was along our pathway, It’s Tough to be a Bug wins for our next stop. Will check in with Genie after the show for our next suggestion.

    There are so many pathways surrounding the Tree of Life, including the It’s Tough to be a Bug exit, where you get spectacular views like this.

    Whoops another detour from Genie, at Dawn bar for beer and saying hi to some friends!

    Safari will have to wait. For now, It is Time.

    Expands Access for Guests with Physical Disabilities and Autism
    BOWIE, Md. — July 19, 2022 -- Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor, D.C.’s Thrill Capital, is the first theme park in the DMV to become a Certified Autism Center™. This accreditation coincides with the introduction of a revolutionary and specialized restraint harness that allows access to ALL Six Flags Thrill Rides for guests with physical disabilities*, as well as all new days dedicated to comfort for guests with sensory sensitivity.

    The Certified Autism Center accreditation is in partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), the only credentialing organization providing this form of certification. As part of the program, guests now have access to trained park leadership and additional support elements. Specialty guides have been developed to highlight the various sensory impacts of each ride or attraction to help with planning a day at a Six Flags park.

    “Six Flags America is proud to be a leader in offering more ways for families in the DMV to create memorable experiences,” said Park President Rick Howarth. “With enhanced training, our all-new ride safety harness system and new sensory-sensitive operating days, more families will be able to enjoy the park in new, better ways than ever before.”

    As an accredited Certified Autism Center™, Six Flags America will provide:

    • Trained, helpful, front-line team members equipped to better assist autistic guests and those with other sensory sensitivities to help them enjoy their time at the park;
    • A sensory guide for every attraction that provides insight into how the attraction or ride may be affected by each of the five senses to make it easier for individuals and families to plan activities that align with their needs;
    • Low sensory areas to allow guests with sensory sensitivities to take a break and relax in a less stimulating environment;
    • An updated Accessibility Guide will be available online on the park’s accessibility page and Guest Services area; and
    • Park-wide implementation of the IBCCES Accessibility Card program. This is a free online program with mobile app option for guests to use when requesting assistance or accommodations at any of the Six Flags parks. To learn more about the program visit accessibilitycard.org.

The harness offers multiple sizes that are able to accommodate riders with physical disabilities such as a missing limb or appendages starting at 54” tall. Approximately 98 percent of all Six Flags theme park rides are equipped with an individually designed harness. Certain rider restrictions and qualifications will apply.
