Six Flags Announces CEO Succession Plan

    • Richard A. Zimmerman to Step Down as Six Flags CEO by the End of 2025;
Will Continue to Serve as CEO Until a Successor is Appointed
    • Board Commences Search to Identify the Company’s Next CEO
    Picture
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: FUN) (“Six Flags” or the “Company”), the largest regional amusement park operator in North America, today announced that Richard A. Zimmerman, president and chief executive officer (“CEO”) and member of the Six Flags Board of Directors (the “Board”), will step down as the Company’s president and CEO by the end of 2025.

To ensure leadership continuity and a smooth transition, Zimmerman will continue to serve as president and CEO until the Board has appointed a successor. He will also continue to serve as a director on the Company’s Board. The Six Flags Board of Directors has initiated a process to identify the Company’s next CEO with the assistance of a leading global executive search firm, and both internal and external candidates will be considered.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Richard for his leadership and contributions since the successful merger of the legacy Cedar Fair and Six Flags companies last July, and for his unwavering passion and dedication to our industry over the last 38 years,” said Selim Bassoul, executive chairman of the Board. “As CEO, Richard has successfully led Six Flags through a period of significant evolution, with a clear vision to optimize the Company to deliver greater value to our guests, associates, and our shareholders. Despite recent economic uncertainty and weather headwinds, we are confident Six Flags has the right strategy in place to drive meaningful long-term growth and achieve our objectives of increasing Adjusted EBITDA, reducing net leverage, and successfully delivering on integration efforts to create value for shareholders.”

“The Company has significantly evolved since I first joined what was then Paramount Parks, Inc. in 1987, and it has been an honor to have led such talented teams through critical and transformative periods over the years – not only for our company, but for the entire amusement park industry,” said Zimmerman. “Since completing the merger of legacy Cedar Fair and legacy Six Flags a little more than a year ago, we have made significant progress on our integration efforts and cost synergy goals. That said, there remains an immense opportunity to further optimize the portfolio and unlock the full value of the Company’s unique assets and intellectual property. We are reaching more guests than ever before and continuing to advance our strategic priorities, which I am confident will enable Six Flags to drive tremendous value creation over the long term. Together we have built a global leader in family entertainment with a resilient business model and bright prospects, and I look forward to supporting the team to help ensure the Company achieves its full potential.”

“The Board and management team are committed to ensuring a smooth transition, and we are grateful that we’ll continue to benefit from Richard’s experience and perspective throughout this process,” continued Bassoul. “The Board will work closely with Richard to conduct a thorough and comprehensive search to identify the best individual to lead Six Flags into the future. We are focused on identifying a strong leader with a proven track record of operating successfully at scale while defining and executing a growth strategy driven by innovation, operational excellence, and world-class talent development.”

2026 Season Pass Comparison: Knott's Berry Farm vs Six Flags Magic Mountain

Hey everybody! We took a break from breaking down 2026 Six Flags Passes for a few days because, quite frankly, it was giving us a headache. But we're back to hopefully try and make some sense of all this, and hopefully give you the best option for your passes.

For this update we're only going to look at the difference between Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain. If we tried to do this for every park we wouldn't even finish before the pass sale ends.
    Picture
If you want a straight breakdown of prices only for every park, you can check that out here

We attempted to break down various options. This is obviously not exhaustive, but hopefully it's close enough. Trying to spare you all a 90 minute video breakdown and a short novel. Hopefully we succeeded.
    Picture
Here is a breakdown of EVERY option for both Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain. From park specific passes to the Gold/Platinum Pass/Membership and every conceivable add-on that you could possibly want. Down below we'll start giving you options that make sense.

There is one option that makes zero sense. We'll get there.

We have heard from more than once source that you can add a 2026 Knott's Scary Farm pass to your Magic Mountain Gold/Prestige pass after purchase. But we have not been able to 100% confirm. If you have done this, please let us know.

    Prestige Pass vs Prestige Pass

    Picture
If you are getting a Prestige pass it comes down to wanting Bring a Friend Tickets for Knott's Berry Farm or Magic Mountain. You also save $70 by getting the pass at Magic Mountain.
    Picture
Let's add in dining. This all comes down to which park you will be visiting more/will want to eat at more. Despite the price difference I think we'll give this one to Knott's Berry Farm considering the longer operating calendar and greater variety of food options.
    Picture
When considering the All-Parks Dining it once again comes down to the bring a friend tickets for Knott's Berry Farm vs Magic Mountain and saving $70 at Magic Mountain.
    Picture
Same Scenario when adding the Drink Plan if you want to save $70 get your pass at Magic Mountain.
    Picture
Adding the All-Parks Dining and Drink Plan once again produces a similar scenario.
    Picture
Next let's add in some fast lanes. In this scenario you are once again choosing a park preference for the 1-Park Fast Lane. Whichever one you will be visiting most. Also note that Knott's Berry Farm has more operating days than Six Flags Magic Mountain.
    Picture
Adding the Dining Plan and Drink Plan back into the scenario along with the Fast Lane presents a similar result to what we've seen repeated above. The same $70 price difference comes into play.

Basically, if you will be using your two Bring a Friend tickets for Knott's Berry Farm in 2025 the $70 price difference probably makes sense.
    Picture
And here we have the most expensive 2026 pass you can get for Six Flags. This pass includes EVERYTHING! Dining. Drinks. Fast Lane AND Scary Farm.

If you're paying this much Winner = Six Flags Corporation!

    Gold Pass vs Gold Pass

    Picture
Let's check out some Gold Passes. The most glaring addition you are going to see here vs the Prestige pass is the $90 fee to add Knott's Berry Farm parking to your Season pass.

The Knott's Gold Pass with Parking is only going to save you $35 over the Prestige pass which includes parking. If you want parking at Knott's you will also have to add it with a Gold Pass from any other park.
    Picture
Similar scenarios when adding in the 1-Park Dining Plan. It comes down to which park you will be visiting/dining at more often. Remember that if you want parking at Knott's you'll have to add the $90 to your Six Flags Magic Mountain pass too.
    Picture
The first pass that's kind of even across the board.
If you're adding in the $90 Gold Pass parking at Knott's Berry Farm the Magic Mountain Pass is only $10 less.
    Picture
For our Gold Pass Fast Lane scenario the 1-park Fast Lane is significantly cheaper at Six Flags Magic Mountain, however adding the all-parks Fast Lane will only save you $20 if you are adding on the Gold Pass parking at Knott's Berry Farm.
    Picture
We're now getting into scenarios where the Gold Pass makes less sense considering the $90 fee to add Gold Pass Parking at Knott's Berry Farm.

Knott's Prestige Pass with these options = $1452.99
Magic Mountain Prestige Pass with these options = $1382.99
    Picture
Finally, a pass option that really doesn't make any sense. If you're paying this much for a pass you shouldn't even think about getting a Gold Pass. You should get Prestige. If you're doing payments note that the down payment for the Gold Pass with these options is actually MORE than the Prestige Pass with these options.

Knott's Prestige Pass with these options = $1607.99
(Knott's Prestige down payment with these options = $256.27)

Magic Mountain Prestige Pass with these options = $1382.99
Hopefully this helps you figure out what pass works best for you. In the end it really comes down to a few things and what is a priority to you.

    Magic Mountain Advantages:
    • Saves Money
    • 2025 Bring a Friend for Legacy Six Flags Park
    • Free Gold Pass Parking for all parks (except Knott's Berry Farm)

    Knott's Berry Farm Advantages:
    • More Operating Days
    • Variety of Food Options for Dining Pass
    • 2025 Bring a Friend for Legacy Cedar Fair Park

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lucky Strike Entertainment, one of the world’s premier owner/operators of location-based entertainment, today announced the acquisition of two iconic water parks, Raging Waters Los Angeles and Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe, and three high-performing family entertainment centers: Castle Park in Riverside, CA; Boomers Vista, CA; and Boomers Palm Springs, CA. These venues attract over 1.5 million annual guests and reinforce Lucky Strike’s growing presence in the waterpark, amusement, and family entertainment center formats.

“This acquisition accelerates our vision to build the leading platform of location-based entertainment destinations in North America,” said Thomas Shannon, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Lucky Strike Entertainment. “Each of these properties has deep roots and established guest loyalty in their communities. We see tremendous opportunity to elevate the guest experience and continue our playbook of strategic investment in high-return opportunities to expand our portfolio, create network economies between the assets, and reshape the future of entertainment.”

Raging Waters Los Angeles, located in San Dimas, is the largest water park in California and has been a summer tradition for generations of Southern California families. Set across approximately 60 acres, the park features more than 50 attractions, including 14 signature water slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and splash zones. It draws approximately 450,000 visitors annually. The park remains one of the most iconic and recognizable water destinations on the West Coast.

Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Pointe in Greensboro, North Carolina, is one of the largest and most recognizable water parks in the Southeast. Spanning 40 acres with over 40 attractions, including high-thrill slides, a massive wave pool, and family-friendly splash zones, it has built a loyal following as a top destination for seasonal recreation across the Piedmont Triad region over the last few decades.

Castle Park in Riverside, California, is a 24-acre regional amusement park with deep roots in the Inland Empire. Originally developed by amusement industry pioneer Bud Hurlbut in 1976, the park blends nostalgic charm with more than 20 rides, four themed miniature golf courses, midway games, and a two-story arcade. Castle Park attracts over 250,000 visitors annually and benefits from its high-visibility location along the 91 Freeway.

Boomers Vista, in North San Diego County, is a high-quality family entertainment center featuring go-karts, laser tag, batting cages, two 18-hole mini golf courses, and a 99-game arcade. With roughly 150,000 visitors annually, Boomers Vista has long been a popular destination for birthday parties, group outings, and year-round family fun.

Boomers Palm Springs offers a vibrant mix of indoor and outdoor attractions on 3.5 acres in the heart of the Coachella Valley. The park includes go-karts, bumper boats, a rock wall, batting cages, three mini-golf courses, and over 85 arcade games. It welcomes both the local community and tourists seeking a unique family-friendly experience.

In closing, Thomas Shannon stated, “This is a major step in our long-term strategy. Each of these properties complements our portfolio, adds to our scale economies and the network effects of having a nationwide, rain-or-shine offering for our valued guests.”

Price Breakdown for all Six Flags 2026 Passes and Memberships

Happy 2026 Season Pass Sale Day Everybody!

Now that most Six Flags parks have had their 2026 passes go on sale we're going to give you a full breakdown of the prices you can find at each park. Because they vary greatly!

There are some solid reasons for the differences in price like the duration of the season, the local market, etc..

A price difference of $30-$40 for a pass is not unheard of, but we're seeing differences of $100 or more for what is essentially the same pass. It does make sense in a lot of cases, but it's jarring to see.

Okay, let's start breaking it down.
    Picture

    A few notes:

    • "Passes" vs "Memberships".
      • Legacy Cedar Fair Park Passes allow pay-in-full and payment options.
      • Legacy Six Flags parks are the only parks that offer Memberships.
      • Memberships are the only way to do payments if a legacy Six Flags park is your "home park"
    • All Passes MUST be activated at the purchased park.
    • Bring a Friend Tickets.
      • "Bring a Friend" tickets for "legacy" Cedar Fair parks are only valid at Cedar Fair Parks in 2025.
      • "Bring a Friend" tickets for "legacy" Six Flags parks are only valid at Six Flags Parks in 2025.
      • "Bring a Friend" tickets will be valid at all parks in 2026 (see below).
    Picture
For this update we're just looking at prices for each park to help you decide where you should get your 2026 passes from. We also won't be looking at the waterpark only passes here.

We also tried to break all of this down in the video below.

    All Parks Add-Ons

We're going to start with the All Parks Add-Ons as they're pretty consistent. There are some variations in price for add-ons that are only good at the "home park" including home park dining plans and photo packages.

Check the website for your home park for individual park prices.

    • All Parks Dining = $155
    • All Parks Paper Cup Drink Plan = $36.99
