Park Becomes First in US to partner with Goodr in Fight Against Food Waste and For Sustainability
AUSTELL, Ga — May 17, 2021 — Six Flags Over Georgia – the Thrill Capital of the South –kicks off its longest summer season in decades, with the launch of a new community food partner, the first such partnership by a U.S. theme park. Beginning on May 21, the park will be open daily through Labor Day, September 6. Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags White Water begin daily operation May 28.
Six Flags Over Georgia is now the first U.S. theme park to partner with Goodr, a sustainable waste management company that leverages technology to combat food waste and hunger. This collaborative effort will directly impact food insecurity in metro Atlanta and the surrounding region. Founded by Jasmine Crowe, Goodr provides a winning solution by donating surplus edible food to local non-profits, as well as reducing greenhouse emissions from landfills.

Expanded Summer and A New Twist on a Classic Coaster – THE RIDDLER Mindbender
Six Flags Over Georgia will offer more days of thrills this summer including daily operation through Labor Day. The park will feature exclusive events, which will include a month-long Food and Beverage Experience. Coming soon, THE RIDDLER Mindbender, the world’s first triple looping coaster, will take on a new twist. The historic coaster will feature a fresh, sleek look and new roller coaster trains through a seven-story drop, multiple upside-down loops and reach speeds of 50-miles-per-hour.

Six Flags Over Georgia recently announced increased wage ranges for a variety of positions for the 2021 season and is now hiring for Summer and Fall. SANTA CLARA, California (May 14, 2021) – California’s Great America, Northern California’s premier entertainment destination, today announced that Barbara-Lea Granter has been named vice president and general manager of the park. She succeeds Manny Gonzalez, who recently was promoted to vice president and general manager at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina. Both California’s Great America and Carowinds are owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (NYSE: FUN).
Granter brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Great America. A native of Toronto, she began her nearly 40-year career in the theme park industry as a seasonal supervisor at Canada’s Wonderland, which today is also owned by Cedar Fair. She joined the entertainment division at Canada’s Wonderland on a full-time basis in 1984 and later worked in operations. In 2000, Granter moved to the United States to manage “Star Trek: The Experience” at the Las Vegas Hilton and to install CBS Television City at the MGM Grand. Now an American citizen, she has spent the past 19 seasons as vice president and general manager of Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in California.

Waterpark Will Reopen to Pass Holders on May 22
CONCORD, Calif. — May 12, 2021 — Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord, Northern California’s Most Thrilling Waterpark, today announced plans to reopen with local and state approval to Members and Season Pass holders, May 22 and 23, then to the general public for Memorial Day weekend starting May 29, 2021. For the first time since October of 2019, Hurricane Harbor Concord will operate at reduced attendance levels, in accordance with state reopening guidelines for theme parks and waterparks, utilizing a reservation system. The park will also implement extensive safety measures already in use at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo and other Six Flags parks across North America.
“As the temperatures rise and summer quickly approaches, we know our guests are anxious to visit Hurricane Harbor to cool off and enjoy the incredible experiences Six Flags is known for,” said Park President Janine Durette. “Just as we have done successfully at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, we are looking forward to providing a safe and fun outdoor environment for Northern California families to spend time together.”
Hurricane Harbor Concord Park Director Paul Kimura added, “This is a great day for our team. They are ready to get back to work and do what they love, and after more than a year and a half of being away, we are thrilled to be able to welcome back our guests to enjoy our world-class slides and water attractions,” continued Kimura.
Park reopening dates are subject to change based on local, state, and federal guidelines related to COVID-19.
Six Flags’ safety plan, developed in consultation with infectious disease experts and utilized throughout the Six Flags network of parks, provides for execution at the highest levels of hygiene and social distancing protocols. The park will adjust these procedures as needed to ensure continued compliance with state recommendations.
Park Reservations System to Control Capacity
Six Flags has established attendance caps that are in accordance with current state guidelines to allow for proper social distancing. All Members, Season Pass holders and guests with a single-day or group ticket will need to make a reservation at www.sixflags.com/reserve. ‘A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King’ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will return May 15
As live entertainment and Disney performers continue to return to Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” will debut May 15, 2021, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Presented in a modified format to be mindful of the current environment, the show features music and characters from the classic Disney film “The Lion King.”
Safety Measures Remain in Place

Safety Remains Six Flags’ Top Priority
