Six Flags Wild Safari Increases World’s Siberian Tiger Population by 1 Percent

Park Celebrates Extremely Rare Birth of Five Adorable Cubs
JACKSON, N.J. ─ June 23, 2022 ─ On May 2 at Six Flags Wild Safari, Siberian tiger Nadya gave birth to an extremely rare litter of five cuddly cubs. While most tiger births range from two to four cubs, this uncommon birth is also significant because as an endangered species, Nadya’s litter is equivalent to 1 percent of the world’s wild Siberian tiger population.

During the cubs’ first health checkup at three weeks of age, the Six Flags Veterinary Team noted that one female cub weighed only 2.5 pounds, the typical birthweight. The remaining cubs—three girls and one boy—tipped the scales at a healthy 6 pounds. The team brought the tiniest cub to the clinic, where she remained in an incubator and received around-the-clock bottle feedings until she began to thrive. “Without human intervention, she would not have survived,” said Six Flags Veterinarian Dr. Ken Keiffer, who also noted the grim survival rate of wild tigers at 50 percent.
Siberian tigers, also known as Amur tigers, are critically endangered with an estimated wild population of only 500 due to poaching, hunting and habitat loss. As the largest cats in the world, they average 11 feet long with a three-foot tail. Despite originating from snowy regions such as Russia, China and North Korea where a white coat may help them blend in with their surroundings, they bear a bold orange and black coat with a unique stripe pattern. They are powerful, solitary carnivores. 

“Nadya’s cubs help ensure the survival of this precious species for at least two more decades,” Dr. Keiffer said. “At Six Flags, we aim to teach our guests about conservation, and we hope it inspires them to help preserve these and other amazing animals here on Earth.”

Six Flags Wild Safari doubled its Siberian tiger population with this most recent birth. Guests can see Nadya and four of her cubs in the safari’s Tigris Asiana section of the Drive-Thru Adventure in the coming weeks. The littlest cub will remain in the veterinary clinic for the next few months.
The Wild Safari offers additional unique experiences to see Nadya and her cubs:

·         ‘Safari Overnight’ Camp Out July 15 & 16: Guests can pitch a tent at Safari’s Camp Aventura and fall asleep to the lullaby of a lion’s roar. ·         ‘Giraffe Encounter’ Safari VIP Tour: Six Flags Great Adventure theme park offers a new safari VIP experience, the Giraffe Encounter Tour. This off-road adventure on military-style, open-air trucks features an informative and engaging tour guide through seven sections of the Wild Safari and the opportunity to hand-feed giraffes at Wild Safari’s Camp Aventura. Tour guests can also meet small exotic animals up-close. Program runs select days through June 29 and daily June 30 through Sept. 4. Tour tickets may be purchased in advance or at the theme park;
·         Private ‘Giraffe Encounter’ Tour: Six Flags Great Adventure guests can experience the Giraffe Encounter Tour with a private Safari Off-Road vehicle. This personalized excursion can be shared with up to 30 family and friends. The tour includes a fun and educational guide to narrate the trip, plus giraffe feeding at Camp Aventura. Fee required.   • Virtual Queue: Attendees will be able to sign up for an available boarding group in a virtual queue for D23 Expo Marketplace, Mickey’s of Glendale Main Store, or Mickey’s of Glendale Pin Store by using the Disneyland Resort app and scanning a QR code located at the store’s entrance.
  • Merchandise Mobile Checkout: Pay for items from D23 Expo Marketplace, D23 Expo Shop x Mickey’s of Glendale, or Mickey’s of Glendale Main Store via the Disneyland Resort app to save time!
  • StorePass: To shop select limited-edition collection items, attendees will be able to reserve via StorePass, an online reservation system prior to the start of D23 Expo. Details on how to get a StorePass reservation will be announced later this summer.

Universal City, California – June 21, 2022 – Universal Studios Hollywood celebrates 4th of July by extending its Independence Day festivities throughout the weekend from Saturday, July 2 – Monday, July 4, inclusive of dazzling nightly fireworks displays, live music performances, specially themed décor and more, all included in the price of admission to the theme park.

From the moment guests walk along the iconic red carpet and enter the theme park, they will be immersed in July 4th festivities from themed décor to the sounds of a fife and drum band. Then, beginning nightly at 9:00 p.m., an elaborate fireworks display will splash across the sky, synchronized to a score of Universal-themed music and patriotic favorites from two locations inside of the theme park.

Universal Studios Hollywood continues to provide endless entertainment with one-of-a-kind blockbuster attractions; from the “Jurassic World—The Ride” mega-attraction inspired by the JURASSIC WORLD film series and featuring a stunningly realistic and fully articulating dinosaur, the Indominus rex, to becoming a stray puppy looking to be adopted on Illumination’s award-winning “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash” ride and getting swept up in the excitement as you enroll in Minion training with Gru, Margo, Edith, Agnes and the mischievous Minions on Illumination’s “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.”

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 21, 2022) - 15-time All-Star and basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal and ABG Entertainment today announced a partnership with Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, the producers of world-class live events and location-based entertainment experiences including LA’s own Haunted Hayride, for the first-ever SHAQTOBERFEST Halloween event, taking place at the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA this October. Officially open to the public beginning late September through Halloween, the interactive experience will be the ultimate Halloween destination for family-friendly trick-or-treating, ghoulish games, delicious treats, specialty libations, frightfully fun nighttime haunted trails and exciting live entertainment that encapsulates O’Neal’s playful personality.

EUROSAT RIDE VEHICLE DONATED BY MACK RIDES AND EUROPA-PARK ARRIVES AT NATIONAL ROLLER COASTER MUSEUM

Donation is the first from outside the United States to join the museum’s ever-expanding collection

PLAINVIEW, Texas – The National Roller Coaster Museum & Archives (NRCMA) is proud to announce the arrival of ride vehicles from Europa-Park’s Eurosat roller coaster, courtesy of the Mack Family. This donation marks the first time a ride vehicle will be added to the museum’s collection from outside the United States
“It is truly a blessing for our first donation from Europe to be from the Mack Family and from such an iconic attraction,” said Jeff Novotny, President of the NRCMA Board of Directors. “It shows that this is truly an international industry with so many wonderful people who have dedicated their careers to ensuring generations of guests have memorable experiences.”
 
“To see one of the Eurosat trains now exhibited and preserved in the National Roller Coaster Museum – showing visitors a piece of history from Europa-Park — is a special honor and a great remembrance of my father,” said Europa-Park owner, Roland Mack.
 
In the coming weeks, the museum will integrate the vehicle into its master plan, which includes interactive exhibits and historic ride vehicles. While construction continues at the museum’s main facility in Plainview, Texas, it is still reliant solely on the generosity of industry fans and facilities.
