Lego Movie World Media Day and Legoland California Park Update

Picture

Last week we were invited out to Legoland California to check out the all new Lego Movie World. The new land is so fun and, well, awesome!
Since media day we've been posting a lot of videos from our visit, so be sure to check them all out as they are imbedded in this update.

You can see more information on Lego Movie World here. Definitely make plans to check it out!

Welcome back to Legoland California. It's great to be back!

This way to awesome!

This is left over from Lego Friends, but re-themed a bit!
Picture
We're trying to get our Carousel POV to be our most popular video ever. Because why not. So give it a watch!

And of course there's a gift shop

I was very close to getting one of these and making it into a new camera bag with dividers, but it wasn't big enough.

After the media event and checking out all of Lego Movie World, I took a lap around the park.

Aquazone is getting some work done.

Always a fun ride
Picture
This has changed over the years
Picture
This is from 2005.
Picture
Deep Sea Adventure was closed due to the ride being so enclosed. Will be interesting to see if it reopens after June 15th.

No visit to Legoland is complete without spending some time in Miniland, USA
Picture
The area where Star Wars Miniland was. Will be interesting to see what ends up here.

That's a wrap from Legoland! We hope you enjoyed the update! We're going to try and head back at some point this summer for a full park/waterpark/aquarium day!

Stunt Pilot Opening Weekend at Silverwood

Picture
We're going to have a lot more from Silverwood over the next few days including POV, Reverse POV and pictures from tomorrow (Saturday's) opening day.

Update: 5/30/2021 - A bunch of amazing pictures from opening day are now below for you to feast your eyes on. This is one photogenic ride! Scroll to the bottom to see Media Day pics!

Opening Day Pictures

Picture
You gotta go under the highway to get to Silverwood. This is when any day at Silverwood REALLY begins.
Picture
Espresso and Pastry Bar. Good stuff, and they open earlier than anything else at the park. So if you get here early, to avoid a line at bag check, you can still pick up some caffeine and breakfast.
Picture
While waiting at the rope drop inside the park, Engine 7 pulled into the station.
Picture
To open Stunt Pilot, there was a flyover by a biplane.

The line wasn't outside of the building for too long- it just keeps moving.
Picture
While the ride does have 10 single seats per train, this helps when say, there's a group of 7, they can add 3 from the single rider line to have a full train.
Picture
Picture
Because of how long the train is, the sensations are quite different from front to back. Look how far down the drop row 1 is, while row 10 is still flat up top.
Picture
A stunt plane restored and hung upside down over the queue line. Brilliant bit of theming.
Picture
Picture
It's really cool to watch- and because of how the line goes right under most of the ride, you get to watch it a lot.
Picture
Picture
Very smooth, very fun ride. A lot of people got off and said "Let's get back in line" right away.

Panic Plunge. If you sit on this side, you get a great overview of Stunt Pilot for a moment.

It was a beautiful day for a ride opening

From over by the log flume.
Picture
Corkscrew Pizza. If you didn't get a picture of the corkscrew, did you even go to Silverwood?
Picture
From the side. The first drop is 87 degrees.

The guy in the back row looks like he might be rethinking his decision to ride.

Riders Seem To Really Enjoy This Ride. I did. Rode 4 times opening day, each time seemed better. It was really hauling late afternoon.
Picture
Hairtime!

Favorite photo of the day. This shot pretty much shows the gamut of rider reactions.

The Barn

You "Fly" through three air race rings as you ride

Not the shot I REALLY wanted. But you can see Tremors and Stunt Pilot trains in one frame here.

Tremors New Track
Picture
Old and New Side by Side. Tremors absolutely flies through the bowl area now.
Picture
Aftershock. Well, it didn't have such a good day.
Picture
Only shot I got of it in action today. It went down right before we were going to board. Didn't see it open the rest of the day. Oh well, we'll be back.

Someday I'll get a shot with Tremors and Stunt Pilot passing here.

Silverwood: Stunt Pilot Construction Update #2

Picture
Yesterday Matt found himself back in a familiar place, Silverwood, to get another look at Stunt Pilot.

With some HUGE thanks to Carter and Stephanie from Silverwood, this time we didn't just get pics from outside the park, but were let behind the fence for a great tour of what is going to be an amazing ride! Let's head in!

On the road again. 24 hours ago this was all snow. Springtime in Idaho!

Hello again Silverwood!

Last week we were out here

This week we're in here!!

This thing is beautiful

Any park that says they don't have room for a coaster needs to see this ride.

The queue is all under the ride area

Stunt Pilot will have the moving walkway system, not air gates

Timber Terror got a bunch of new wood on the helix - hard to get a pic, but you can see shiny new wood

Got to see Corkscrew's first test run of the season
Picture
Hi Knott's!!
To wrap up:
  • Don't expect Stunt Pilot to open until closer to the end of May- they're still waiting on a control panel to arrive (that was delayed due to COVID) - then they'll have more of a solid timetable.
  • There is going to be a good amount of theming. Some hasn't been announced, some might not be until next year
  • There will be a tribute to Bob Heale, who was a big part of the air show days at Silverwood. The park is working with his grandson and there will be one of his planes, along with the Pitts Special (pics above).

And again, a HUGE thanks to Jordan and Stephanie for reaching out after our update last week and offering us this amazing tour. We are so thankful for stuff like this. We can't wait to see the rest of the rides construction and of course it's opening this Summer.
