Happy Monday everybody, welcome to our first park update since, checks calendar, March 6th!! Wow!

Today we have an opening day update from Matt who went out to Silverwood on Saturday for their opening day. We realize theme park openings aren't really the most important thing going on in the world (or even in the top million) but we hope you can take a break from all the pain going on right now and enjoy some awesome theme park pictures. Take care of yourselves, and everybody else! - Gregg

Welcome to Silverwood Opening Day 2020!

This is a GOOD sign
Picture
It's good to be back! Every visit to Silverwood starts with a walk under Highway 95.
Picture
Good place for a quick breakfast snack / coffee

People waiting in the park for the rope drop at the end of Main Street
Picture
Editors Note: I have to be 100% honest, this picture is what worries me most about parks reopening. No distancing, very few masks.
Picture
Social Distancing Sasquatch
Picture
They're even asking you to social distance before you get the scoop from the Dippin Dots Guy

Clear plastic panels divide the line where it doubles back on itself.

Scarywood Stuff!
Picture
My favorite part of the park
Picture
Excellent wooden coaster - especially at night
Picture
Spin Cycle has hot pink Sasquatch prints
Picture
So the line is split in two- then merges up near the station. There's SUPPOSED to be a team member at the merge, but we never saw that Saturday.
Picture
See, just like the sign says
Picture
When we first were let in, Aftershock was not quite ready to open- they still had the ropes with "Ride Closed' across the two walkways toward the ride.
Picture
Wiping down the coaster after each cycle.
Picture
Our first ride of the season at Silverwood, this is a really good solid mid level wood coaster- it's fun and thrilling enough for a grizzled veteran coaster rider, but it's also an excellent 'starter' coaster because it doesn't deal in any extremes. This season, it has sadly gotten rid of the buzzbar restraints for individual ratcheting lapbars. Theoretically, this will make the ride more efficient to operate, but there's still some bugs to get worked out- we waited extra long because the train didn't park properly in station- so the air gates couldn't open.
Picture
Picture
They had to cycle the train around again to get it in to the right spot. On top of loading every other row, and wiping the train down between riders, it was a fair delay. It took us about 45 minutes to board.
Picture
This would have been a throw away photo, but the bird made me laugh.
Picture
I tried to ride this later in the day. It broke down, but not before taking 45 minutes of my time (including a fair amount of time slowly rocking back and forth, then stopped but still restrained).

Picture
The park has a lovely picnic pavilion
Picture
Picture
A really good deal and nice shady spot to eat/rest/recharge
Picture
You can eat mac and cheese until you EXPLODE! We hereby give Silverwood permission to use that line in their advertising.
Picture
You can get some nice shots of Aftershock from the back pavilions.

New sign for this season.

Hi Knott's!

Picture
Some kind of work under Corkscrew
Picture
Roaring Creek Flume Ride

Some coaster action shots, just because.

Picture
Picture
If you look closely, you can see that a lady lost her hat as the train went over the drop- you can see the hat in the middle of the track, a few feet from the top.
Picture
SO good, especially on hot days.
Picture
Ice Creamery at the end of the day. Note the people completely ignoring the Sasquatch markers.
Picture
Heading out for the day
Picture
What an excellent skyline.

Picture
Log Flume is OPEN! It was about 50 degrees, maybe a little cooler by the end of the night.
Picture
Pharaoh's Curse Excellent maze with plenty of strobes and mummies. Would benefit from an Iron Maiden 'Powerslave' soundtrack, imho.

Good menu selection.
Picture
Tremors - Front Row in Near Total Darkness There's a strobe light facing riders at the bottom of the first drop- other than that NOTHING to light the way. It was AWESOME!
Picture
3Dementia
Picture
Maze with a cool entrance, but not scary at all. Some cool design and neon paintwork- but the monsters were doing the 'move weirdly and look bored' type thing that sucks.
Picture
Picture
Total Darkness It's the Feel Around maze. You just have to hang on to a wall and feel your way through.
Picture
Spidery stuff!
Picture
Big ole spider
Picture
Picture
Planet Zombie Arguably the best maze - reminded me of a cross between Aftermath at SFMM Fright Fest, and Infected:Special Ops at Knott's Scary Farm. REALLY would benefit from the Infected gun setup though- there's even a video as you wait in line where a guy screams "HEADSHOTS!"
Picture
Planet Zombie is very popular - it was the only real line for a maze we waited in last night
Picture
Spooky Roundup
Picture
Scrambler and Corkscrew in the dark
Picture
Spooky Scarecrow Land
Picture
Clown Town fun!

More Lights In Clown Town
Picture
Hi Clown!
Picture
Blood Bayou This was my favorite maze- the talent was ON, and it felt like a cross between Voodoo at Knotts Scary Farm (the first AMAZING year), and Slaughterhouse. Very detailed, plenty of fun scares.
Picture
Had a great night at ScaryWood!! Definitely recommended if you're going to be anywhere near the park.

Once you park, you head down to the tunnel under I95.

Let's Go!!
Picture
Food and drinks to fuel the day
Picture
Waterpark opening soon
A really fun park included with admission.
Picture
Just inside the gate
To the left- the train depot, to the right, the Carousel.
Picture
Information Center
Right at the center of things- you can rent strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs here.
Picture
Good to know- you can do your shopping for souvenirs without missing out on ride time.
Picture
Great deal for feeding a family here.

Phantasm at Theater of Illusion is an excellent magic show, too.
Picture
Picture
Waiting for opening
We're held right at the entrance to the Country Carnival portion of the park.
Picture
Words to live by
This is a pretty park, with plenty of flowers
Picture
Huck's
Picture
The ice cream is ENORMOUS and yummy, and they've got well maintained pinball machines and arcade games. I will not detail just how much I spent playing TRON and Whirlwind pinball.
Picture
My favorite ride at this park is Tremors. It's got some fun signage along the ride.
Picture
This is a fun drop ride. This bird just kept circling.
Picture
Tremors - An excellent wooden rollercoaster that uses tunnels and low turns to feel even faster than it really is.
Picture
Tremors and Spin Cycle - This is one of the backdrops on my computer - two great rides in one shot
Picture
They mean it!
Picture
Camp scene - Detail along the pathway
Picture
Thunder Canyon - A thoroughly soaking rapids ride.
Picture
This classic ride still gets quite a lot of riders.

For the Arrow fans out there.

Absolutely beautiful engine, cared for nicely.
Picture
Picture
Main Street Theatre - Showing Three Stooges movies makes me REALLY love this place.
Picture
This isn't just a loop around the park- it's an adventure. There are a lot of things to take in while aboard the train, so be sure to listen up.
Picture
One of the first things you'll spot from aboard the train.
Picture
Be on the lookout! Sasquatch sightings!
Picture
I believe he found one
Picture
Supplies! Feel free to beat me for that joke, at your next convenience.
Picture
Um, you MIGHT want to look behind you.
Picture
Sasquatch is just hungry

Then there's the Faerie Woods...

Picture
Picture
Picture
Excellent drop ride. Feels like it isn't gonna stop at the bottom.
Picture
Timber Terror - A good 'starter woodie' that is fun for any kind of coaster rider.
Picture
This is a wicked ride! It swings back and forth, while turning around. Then it goes OVER the top- sometimes you wind up upside down, and still turning around the outside of the ring- pretty wild ride.
Picture
Picture
Great flatride collection - In this shot, you can see the Paratrooper and Bumper Boats.
Picture
Picture
At the end of the day... Back down to the tunnel back to the parking lot (or Campgrounds/RV Center if you're staying there)

We'll be back soon, with more photos of more of the park.
