![]() Happy Monday everybody, welcome to our first park update since, checks calendar, March 6th!! Wow! Today we have an opening day update from Matt who went out to Silverwood on Saturday for their opening day. We realize theme park openings aren't really the most important thing going on in the world (or even in the top million) but we hope you can take a break from all the pain going on right now and enjoy some awesome theme park pictures. Take care of yourselves, and everybody else! - Gregg Written by Matthew Nelson Welcome to Silverwood Opening Day 2020! Our first ride of the season at Silverwood, this is a really good solid mid level wood coaster- it's fun and thrilling enough for a grizzled veteran coaster rider, but it's also an excellent 'starter' coaster because it doesn't deal in any extremes. This season, it has sadly gotten rid of the buzzbar restraints for individual ratcheting lapbars. Theoretically, this will make the ride more efficient to operate, but there's still some bugs to get worked out- we waited extra long because the train didn't park properly in station- so the air gates couldn't open. They had to cycle the train around again to get it in to the right spot. On top of loading every other row, and wiping the train down between riders, it was a fair delay. It took us about 45 minutes to board. Related Videos

![]() Today we're continuing to look at the newly opened parks for the 2018 at Silverwood park. This great park is always amazing but there's just something about opening days that are special. Enjoy!! Check out more of Matt's amazing pictures at GuruShots Written by Matthew Nelson Once you park, you head down to the tunnel under I95. Let's Go!! Food and drinks to fuel the day Waterpark opening soon A really fun park included with admission. Just inside the gate To the left- the train depot, to the right, the Carousel. Information Center Right at the center of things- you can rent strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs here. Good to know- you can do your shopping for souvenirs without missing out on ride time. Great deal for feeding a family here. Phantasm at Theater of Illusion is an excellent magic show, too. Waiting for opening We're held right at the entrance to the Country Carnival portion of the park. Words to live by This is a pretty park, with plenty of flowers Huck's The ice cream is ENORMOUS and yummy, and they've got well maintained pinball machines and arcade games. I will not detail just how much I spent playing TRON and Whirlwind pinball. My favorite ride at this park is Tremors. It's got some fun signage along the ride. This is a fun drop ride. This bird just kept circling. Tremors - An excellent wooden rollercoaster that uses tunnels and low turns to feel even faster than it really is. Tremors and Spin Cycle - This is one of the backdrops on my computer - two great rides in one shot They mean it! Camp scene - Detail along the pathway Thunder Canyon - A thoroughly soaking rapids ride. This classic ride still gets quite a lot of riders. For the Arrow fans out there. This is the curve leading to the double inversion Detail at the Train Depot A beautiful Porter engine pulls in to the station Absolutely beautiful engine, cared for nicely. Main Street Theatre - Showing Three Stooges movies makes me REALLY love this place. This isn't just a loop around the park- it's an adventure. There are a lot of things to take in while aboard the train, so be sure to listen up. One of the first things you'll spot from aboard the train. Be on the lookout! Sasquatch sightings! I believe he found one Supplies! Feel free to beat me for that joke, at your next convenience. Um, you MIGHT want to look behind you. Sasquatch is just hungry Then there's the Faerie Woods... View of Aftershock and Tremors from the train Excellent drop ride. Feels like it isn't gonna stop at the bottom. Timber Terror - A good 'starter woodie' that is fun for any kind of coaster rider. This is a wicked ride! It swings back and forth, while turning around. Then it goes OVER the top- sometimes you wind up upside down, and still turning around the outside of the ring- pretty wild ride. Great flatride collection - In this shot, you can see the Paratrooper and Bumper Boats. At the end of the day... Back down to the tunnel back to the parking lot (or Campgrounds/RV Center if you're staying there) We'll be back soon, with more photos of more of the park. Related Updates: |
