Yesterday Matt found himself back in a familiar place, Silverwood, to get another look at Stunt Pilot.

With some HUGE thanks to Carter and Stephanie from Silverwood, this time we didn't just get pics from outside the park, but were let behind the fence for a great tour of what is going to be an amazing ride! Let's head in!

On the road again. 24 hours ago this was all snow. Springtime in Idaho!

Hello again Silverwood!

Last week we were out here

This week we're in here!!
Picture
This thing is beautiful
Picture
Any park that says they don't have room for a coaster needs to see this ride.
Picture
The queue is all under the ride area
Picture
Stunt Pilot will have the moving walkway system, not air gates

Stunt Pilot is right on top of the walkway

We walked up on the lift of log flume to get some pics

Hey Fred!

For all you coaster station nerds. You know who you are.

Hard at work on Stunt Pilot!

We got to go to the paint shop to see the Pitts Special plane that will be part of the theming

A whole bunch of Tremors track is missing at the moment

They're doing so much work on tremors

Timber Terror got a bunch of new wood on the helix - hard to get a pic, but you can see shiny new wood

Got to see Corkscrew's first test run of the season

Hi Knott's!!
To wrap up:
  • Don't expect Stunt Pilot to open until closer to the end of May- they're still waiting on a control panel to arrive (that was delayed due to COVID) - then they'll have more of a solid timetable.
  • There is going to be a good amount of theming. Some hasn't been announced, some might not be until next year
  • There will be a tribute to Bob Heale, who was a big part of the air show days at Silverwood. The park is working with his grandson and there will be one of his planes, along with the Pitts Special (pics above).

And again, a HUGE thanks to Jordan and Stephanie for reaching out after our update last week and offering us this amazing tour. We are so thankful for stuff like this. We can't wait to see the rest of the rides construction and of course it's opening this Summer.

Hey there Silverwood!
Picture
We set up shop across the interstate where we could get a look at Stunt Pilot.
Picture
Picture
Mmm, Aftershock Towers.
Picture
Oh, you're here to see Stunt Pilot!
Picture
Picture
It's really hard to convey in pictures how bright white Stunt Pilot track is. But it looks amazing!
Picture
Picture
How many coasters do you see in this shot?
Picture
Picture
Picture
Now that RMC is done in Tennessee, we should hopefully see more track going up here very soon, and much better views from outside the park.
Picture
It's going to look simply fantastic in this area of the park.

The end! Hope you enjoyed this quick update from Silverwood!

Happy Monday everybody, welcome to our first park update since, checks calendar, March 6th!! Wow!

Today we have an opening day update from Matt who went out to Silverwood on Saturday for their opening day. We realize theme park openings aren't really the most important thing going on in the world (or even in the top million) but we hope you can take a break from all the pain going on right now and enjoy some awesome theme park pictures. Take care of yourselves, and everybody else! - Gregg

Welcome to Silverwood Opening Day 2020!

This is a GOOD sign

It's good to be back! Every visit to Silverwood starts with a walk under Highway 95.

My favorite part of the park
Picture
Excellent wooden coaster - especially at night
Picture
Spin Cycle has hot pink Sasquatch prints
Picture
So the line is split in two- then merges up near the station. There's SUPPOSED to be a team member at the merge, but we never saw that Saturday.
Picture
See, just like the sign says
Picture
When we first were let in, Aftershock was not quite ready to open- they still had the ropes with "Ride Closed' across the two walkways toward the ride.
Picture
Wiping down the coaster after each cycle.
Picture
Our first ride of the season at Silverwood, this is a really good solid mid level wood coaster- it's fun and thrilling enough for a grizzled veteran coaster rider, but it's also an excellent 'starter' coaster because it doesn't deal in any extremes. This season, it has sadly gotten rid of the buzzbar restraints for individual ratcheting lapbars. Theoretically, this will make the ride more efficient to operate, but there's still some bugs to get worked out- we waited extra long because the train didn't park properly in station- so the air gates couldn't open.
Picture
Picture
They had to cycle the train around again to get it in to the right spot. On top of loading every other row, and wiping the train down between riders, it was a fair delay. It took us about 45 minutes to board.
Picture
This would have been a throw away photo, but the bird made me laugh.
Picture
I tried to ride this later in the day. It broke down, but not before taking 45 minutes of my time (including a fair amount of time slowly rocking back and forth, then stopped but still restrained).

The park has a lovely picnic pavilion

A really good deal and nice shady spot to eat/rest/recharge
Picture
You can eat mac and cheese until you EXPLODE! We hereby give Silverwood permission to use that line in their advertising.
Picture
You can get some nice shots of Aftershock from the back pavilions.

New sign for this season.

If you look closely, you can see that a lady lost her hat as the train went over the drop- you can see the hat in the middle of the track, a few feet from the top.

SO good, especially on hot days.
Picture
Ice Creamery at the end of the day. Note the people completely ignoring the Sasquatch markers.

Heading out for the day

What an excellent skyline.
