As we begin to wrap up our 2016 Halloween event coverage it's always nice to take a look at a fun family event that those of you with smaller kids can check out over Halloween weekend. Today's update is just that as we have a great look at Rise of the Jack O Lanterns in New York. Written by Renée Girard (Click on any of the pictures below to see a larger version) Having some Halloween fun in NY today for Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns at Old Westbury Gardens Tonight we'll see over 5,000 hand carved jack o'lanterns. In the pre-show area is just a sample of some of the pumpkins. While waiting for your time slot to be called, you can watch some of the artists at work carving pumpkins. Let's go check out some pumpkins! Some sections along the trail have different themes. Here's Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. The detail in the pumpkins is incredible! Some of your favorite horror movie characters are carved into pumpkins too. Disney's newest animated film, Moana, on a pumpkin. The stars of the Disney Pixar movie Finding Dory. Disney appeared quite a bit along the trail, including an impressive Frozen display. It looks like someone set up a proposal earlier. What a great way to ask! I don't know how they did it, but there are hundreds of jack o'lanterns in a tree! No surprise that our President and the nominees were made into jack o'lanterns. As a NY baseball fan, I enjoyed seeing both the Mets and Yankees (and Piazza and Jeter) on the trail. Editors Note: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! ;) The dinosaur jack o'lanterns were one of my favorites to see tonight! A set of pumpkins carved to remember those we lost this year. The final scene of jack o'lanterns were all from the Star Wars series. More Star Wars pumpkins! The detail continues to amaze me. I can't imagine how long one of these takes to complete! Had a fantastic night at Rise of the Jack O'lanterns. A truly unique Halloween event that can be enjoyed by all ages! For more information about attending Rise of the Jack O' Lanterns this final weekend be sure to click here. There are events in New York, New Jersey, Boston and Pomona (Los Angeles). Related Updates:

Today we're contiuning our look at Independent Haunts with Sinister Pointe in Fullerton, CA. This is another event with a long standing history of being one of the best Haunts in Southern California and my first visit through the portal couldn't have been more amazing. Written by Joshua Condon With past event names like Diner Dead, Bloody Mary, Condemned and Horror Hall, you kind of can get an idea what you can expect in "Fear The Mark". Unlike other events you get to possibly experience four different "realms" of terror. Each maze starts off the same, with an amazing host getting you ready for what lies inside. Soon you will be sorted into your realm and receive your mark. From there you will venture into one of the four realms: Tormentum, Rebus, Infernal and Arcane. Each one offers something truly unique and different while at the same time sharing the same space at different area's. The way it's laid out simply "works" and works well. The talent in the maze is incredible from start to finish, it's no wonder so many people come back to "scare" at this event every year. It's a well oiled machine in every way. Arcane: This was our first realm, one where the monsters play tricks on you. Apparently our group wasn't very good at finding our way out more than once and we sure paid dearly for it. Rebus: This was the "fun" maze and if you only have time to go through 1 realm and you are a coaster enthusiast, we highly recommend this one. Yes you can have your realm "chosen" for you, but you can also request one. You'll know where to do that. We also each got separated in this realm and a friend of mine sent me through a very narrow pathway. I had to suck in my gut but it was awesome. Infernal: This one also had some "alone" moments involved and some more physical elements that some may want to avoid if you are unable to do crawling, but it was amazing. Tormentum (thanks Stephanie for your thoughts on this realm): This one was a bit more gory than some of the other realms (as the name might tell you) and some area's where you have to crawl under some barbed wire. Overall we had a simply awesome time at Sinister Pointe and we can't wait to see what your twisted minds come up with for next year. Thank you so much for inviting us out to your event, we couldn't have been more impressed with the overall professionalism of your staff and the passion of the talent inside the maze. For more information on Sinister Pointe be sure to check out their website, and just like some other events, they have extended their run through November 12th. So don't worry if you can't get out there this weekend, you still have time to get your mark. Related Updates: Looking for a review or information for a 2016 Halloween event? Well look no further.
