Today we're back in Florida with another great update from Walt Disney World. Today we're joining Renée as she runs 19.3 miles through the parks of Walt Disney World with some Storm Troopers, Droids and even Matt. Written by Renée Girard The Star Wars half marathon weekend kicked off at WDW today! Tomorrow and Sunday we'll be journeying to the Dark Side. While at the Star Wars Half expo, be sure to stop by the Cantina. You can get a Dole Whip in a Chewbacca stein! I don't think I've ever seen this much as far as snacks and drinks at a RunDisney expo. think this is my favorite shirt at the Star Wars Half expo. We'll be up early the next 2 days for the Dark Side Challenge. Good luck to all running, and stay hydrated! In a corral far, far away... awaiting the start of the Star Wars 10k. Looking forward to the new course! Star Wars themed costumes are always popular among the runners. I've already spotted a few Matts this morning. See you in 6.2 miles! Storm troopers and Spaceship Earth! This is the race you're looking for. The Star Wars 10k runners approaching the finish line at Epcot. Finished! One race down, one more to go. I don't think I've ever seen wait times posted for the characters. Great to see this addition! We're back for another early morning run. It's time for the Star Wars Half Marathon! The first runners are on their way! May The Force be with us all to conquer the Dark Side Challenge I always look forward to seeing the creative Star Wars costumes and shirts along the course. Editors Note: For some reason this picture and tweet blew up on Twitter on Sunday and we have no idea why. It's certainly clever, and we always love a good Pun. Guess sometimes you never know what people are going to enjoy. Running through Disney's Hollywood Studios. What's up DCA? =) Finish line and medals at Epcot! Wait times if you wanted to meet a character after the race. Celebrating finishing the Dark Side Challenge with a cold beer. Congrats to all who participated. Cheers! Related Updates: It's time to take another look at Star Wars Land construction at Disney's Hollywood Studios which doesn't seem to be moving along at quite the pace as Star Wars Land at Disneyland. We'll also head over to Disney's Animal Kingdom to check out the nighttime fun. Written by Renée Girard Here we are at Disney's Hollywood Studios on a beautiful summer evening Halloween is in 2 months, which means merchandise is already out at WDW! I love the new socks at WDW! Too bad it's 90+ degrees here. Maybe we'll pick them up in a few months. Can't really complain about there being two varieties of chocolate peanut butter cupcakes at Hollywood Studios. Concerned about Zika virus and left your bug spray at home? Disney now has several kiosks throughout their parks. Construction at Pizza Rizzo is coming along, across from Muppet Vision 3D at Hollywood Studios. The signs on the walls for Pizza Rizzo fit perfectly with the Muppet humor. The Streets of America are nearly demolished at Hollywood Studios, to make way for Star Wars land. Time to take a spin on Toy Story Mania! Girl behind us in line: "They have the lights from Stranger Things." Close game on Toy Story Mania, we got the high score in our car, of course. Crowds are light and we staked out a good spot for the Star Wars fireworks 10 minutes before showtime. Another great showing of Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at Hollywood Studios. Finishing our Disney night out at Animal Kingdom! The night time entertainment in Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom is awesome! Taking a trip on the night time Kilimanjaro Safaris Jungle Book: Alive with Magic is only playing for one more week at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Tree of Life Awakenings is still our favorite part of Animal Kingdom at night. Perfect way to end the evening. Related Updates: 6 Disney Rides other than Tower of Terror that would be a better fit for Guardians of the Galaxy3/21/2016
If you paid attention to #DisneyTwitter yesterday you would have noticed a very strange rumor going around. One that uses the impending renewal for the "Twilight Zone" rights and makes a really crazy idea, even by Disney standards. That rumor was a Guardians of the Galaxy makeover for Tower of Terror. While we aren't exactly opposed to a Guardians of the Galaxy ride, and we aren't really even opposed to using an existing ride to pull it off, there are a LOT of better choices than Tower of Terror. It would take the best ride at Walt Disney World (in Gregg's opinion) and make it into one of the worst. So we figured, why not have some fun with this rumor and point out a few existing rides that would be a MUCH better fit for the Guardians of the Galaxy theme. Some of them obviously took a bit more thought than others, some of the photoshop work below isn't exactly the best, but hey, we're just having fun here anyway. #6 - Guardians of the Galaxy Track: Create your own spaceship and zoom it around "Knowhere" all while avoiding The Collector. #5 - Guardians of the Galaxy: The Ride: Using the existing Mission Space ride fly an emergency mission to Xandar to rescue the Nova Corp. #4 - Guardians Mountain: The first Space Mountain Layover at the Magic Kingdom using all new technology to fly through space with the Guardians of the Galaxy #3 - Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster starring Blue Swede: A perfect mix of Guardians of the Galaxy and the awesome soundtrack as you fly through space with Star Lord and his Awesome Mix. We bet you get "hooked on a feeling". #2 - The Land with Groot: Learn about science and nature with everybody's favorite walking, talking tree. You've never learned more in 3 words as you will on these adventures. #1 - Rocket's Great Escape: Break out of the Kyln with Rocket at the lead. Be sure you have your extra leg. So what do you think? Would you ride any (or all) of these over a Tower of Terror re-do? If you have any other ideas be sure to post them below. |
