Before we get started with the update we wanted to give you a heads up that Universal Studios Hollywood on Facebook will host a Facebook Live event to stream the all-new “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle” experience at “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” on Friday, June 23 at 8:45pm PST
Welcome to Hogwarts
We'll start off with a few of our favorite shots of the show
It's quite simply the best projection mapping we've ever seen.
Full video of the all new show.
Just a quick note: We attempted something new during the show which was mounting a GoPro on top of the DSLR so we could make sure we got great video and pictures during the event. While we are VERY pleased with how this came out visually, unfortunately the shutter on the DSLR made the audio a bit more muddled than we'd like. We'll be coming up with ways to remedy this in the future. But we hope you enjoy the video nonetheless. =)
Some more of our favorite shots of the show
The show is simply stunning
We took so many pictures we didn't know which ones to include, so we included about 90 of them in the slideshow below. We hope you enjoy!!
This show is truly amazing and unlike some other shows it won't take a lot of time out of your evening at the park, it's only about 5-6 minutes long. Which IMO is long enough for those of us who don't enjoy dedicating hours and standing in one spot for long periods of time to see a nighttime show.
Be sure you check it out soon. The show officially opens on June 23 but you may be able to catch a preview before then.
A few more random pics from our visit.
A new Despicable Me photo spot is up on the upper lot
Looks like they are doing some work near Universal Plaza
The back wall for the new storefront/restaurant is up
Because why not
Shrek 4D soon to be ...
You know =)
Don't look sad ... Banana!!
Voodoo Doughnuts at CityWalk LA is finally officially open and we were invited to check out the grand opening media event and of course sample some of the amazing donuts and coffee.
This was probably our 4th or 5th visit to Voodoo since it opened awhile back and at this rate it's safe to say we've tried about 75% of their donuts. The shop is the PERFECT fit for CityWalk as it fits the style of the entire area and if the long lines are any indication we aren't alone in our feelings.

Voodoo Doughnut Casts a Spell on Universal CityWalk with the Opening of its First-Ever California Location
Stumptown Coffee, the Perfect Complement to a Voodoo Doughnut, Also Brewed at the Location in Exclusive Pink Espresso Machine
Universal City, June 1, 2017 – Good things come in pink boxes is Voodoo Doughnut’s mantra as the irreverent, world famous pastry shop sweetens up Universal CityWalk with its first-ever California location, situated adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A.
Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk is now open.
“We are beyond thrilled to open Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk and share our menu of fabulous doughnuts with the world at the top entertainment destination in Los Angeles,” said Voodoo Doughnut founder, Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson.
“The arrival of Voodoo Doughnut to Universal CityWalk coincides with the destination’s ongoing revitalization,” said Karen Irwin, President and COO, Universal Studios Hollywood. “Their unique brand and delicious signature one-of-a-kind doughnuts is the perfect complement to CityWalk’s over-the-top vibrancy.”
Hailing originally from Portland, Oregon by founders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon, the new L.A. pastry shop serves a range of 60 eclectic doughnuts, including vegan options and the Hollywood Cream, created for Universal CityWalk.
A variety of scrumptious flavored doughnuts are available, such as Grape Ape, Mango Tango, the Voodoo Bubble and Bacon Maple Bar as well as their iconic Voodoo Doll. A popular take-out option, Voodoo Doughnuts are served in signature pink boxes or in a custom-made wooden coffin.
The new location also features another Portland specialty: Stumptown coffee, which brews regularly from the first-ever pink Stumptown espresso machine located exclusively at Universal CityWalk’s Voodoo Doughnut.
Keeping with their longstanding tradition, Voodoo Doughnut helps celebrate marital bliss by hosting weddings ceremonies, complete with a doughnut and coffee catered reception.
The new Voodoo Doughnut shop finds its sweet spot at the inimitable Universal CityWalk, located near the “5 Towers” outdoor concert stage and adjacent to Universal Cinema, which recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation and features deluxe recliner seating.
Voodoo Doughnut has expanded to multiple U.S. cities in Eugene, Ore., Denver, Colo., and Austin, Texas. The CityWalk location marks their first California establishment.
