Universal Studios Hollywood Update: HHN, Super Nintendo World - July 20, 2021

7/20/2021

Picture
On Sunday we headed out to Universal Studios Hollywood for some summer fun. Arriving to the park around lunch-time and staying until the early evening.

Despite not arriving when the park opened, we were able to have a great day in the park, enjoy a couple of shows and of course check out the progress on Halloween Horror Nights preparations and Super Nintendo World!

Welcome to Universal Studios Hollywood!
Picture
New mask requirements are now in place, and mask wearing was MUCH higher inside the park than even 2 weeks ago.
Picture
A look at the Curious George mazes, in this case, Haunting at Hill House.
Picture
What is likely to be Pandoras Box
Picture
Not sure what these are? Boo boxes? Wouldn't they have been put in the tent already?
Picture
Picture
A look at the construction on the far corner of the lot. Likely for new soundstages.
Picture
Picture
The rumor is they are building new soundstages to free up more room around the lower lot for future theme park expansion.
Picture
Now that Bride of Frankenstein Lives has been announced, the façade is definitely coming together.
Picture
Picture
Outside of Waterworld, some changes have happened to the outside of the "rumored" Halloween Maze.
Picture
What was rumored to be Halloween III (with Michael Myers) is now looking like it will be for the new Halloween Kills. Makes way more sense.
Picture
In a surprise to most, it's now looking like the maze in Stage 29 will be a return of The Exorcist. With it being in a soundstage, guessing it will be a bit different than it was in 2016.
Picture
Let's check out the Studio Tour.
Picture
Production schedule, probably for this week, not on Sunday.
Picture
A look at the lower lot soundstage area. Will be interesting to see if we start to see any activity over here in the near future.
Picture
The Great Outdoors house has been moved behind War of the Worlds. Interesting that they've kept this. Maybe we'll see it on the Terror Tram?
Picture
Rumor is the back-drop will be removed. Last week somebody mentioned the Studio Tour host mentioned this will be a parking lot soon. (if that's you, please let us know so we can credit you)
Picture
Seems like an odd area for just a "parking lot", so I wouldn't expect that to last long. Unless it's going to be for the Trams and the current tram parking area will be used for something else.
Picture
Lets move down to the lower lot and take a look at Super Nintendo World.

Lots more hills being added.

Cheers! (totally didn't even notice the plane when I took this pic, happy birthday random person)
Picture
Picture
We also checked out a couple of shows, including Kung Fu Panda
Picture
And of course Waterworld
Picture
Picture
Before heading out, we had some ice cream for National Ice Cream Day!
Thanks for checking out our update! Things are definitely active around the park! This has been one of the most active parks in the country for years, and it doesn't look like that's slowing down any time soon!

Universal Studios Hollywood Update - July 6, 2021

7/6/2021

Picture
Happy Tuesday and welcome to another update from Universal Studios Hollywood. I headed to the park in the morning hours of July 4th to check out progress on Super Nintendo World, Halloween Horror Nights and just enjoy the park until the crowds showed up for fireworks.

There were also a few unexpected things I found during my visit.

Enjoy and please share! We've got pics and video below for you to enjoy!

Picture
The Olympic Rings made a stop at CityWalk. They'll be at Universal Orlando and a few other places this month.
Picture
Patriotic Woody's throughout the entry area!
Picture
There have been some rumors that the Simpsons may be retired from the park in a few years. I'm ok with it. But maybe a new ride system instead of a 30 year old one.
Picture
A few years ago I would have wondered what JK Rowling would think about a trash can being visible inside Wizarding World. Now? I don't care what she thinks.
Picture
After a quick ride on Flight of the Hippogriff, I took in the Studio Tour.
Picture
Super Nintendo World construction

Picture
Supposedly a Haunting at Hill House maze for HHN
Picture
Bruce says Happy 4th!
Picture
LOTS of trees being cut down around The Great Outdoors house and Falls Lake. This is a HUGE plot of land for what is essentially nothing. We'll keep an eye on this for sure.
Picture
It's proximity to the park and distance from the houses makes this a prime location for future park expansion. If it weren't for F&F being in the way.
Picture
Reportedly for Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Again. This is probably my least favorite horror franchise.
Picture
Let's take a look at more from Super Nintendo World

They are definitely moving pretty quick now

Some new merch, only kids sizes. For now. Hopefully adult sizes are coming soon.

Saw Animal Actors for the first time in years. Always a fun show. The look on the Team Members face here is priceless.

Definitely a book
Picture
Hiya Marilyn!
Picture
The other two HHN mazes are coming together.
Picture
Reportedly Beetlejuice and Curse of Pandoras Box 2
Picture
Defintely could be for Dante's Inferno facade for Beetlejuice?
Picture
Work on the new soundstages is continuing on the far east end of the lot.
Picture
Had to grab one of the new Dodgers USA hats on the way out. Hope you enjoyed!
