Universal Studios Hollywood Update - July 23, 2025 (HHN and Fast and Furious)

Picture
Welcome to an all new update from Universal Studios Hollywood. In this update we've got a lot of HHN and Fast and Furious for you. Also included is some Mega Movie Summer fun and a look at some killer new merchandise that is now available!
Picture
Picture
Picture
I think I've seen these before, but love them.
Picture
I think this is a robe? For those casual scary movie nights at home? =)
Picture
Absolutely LOVE this. Some of the same merchandise was unveiled for the HHN Vegas site today as well.

For those who are into this ...

Picture
Picture
Was VERY close to getting this one
Picture
Hanging out with Marty and Einstein. Einstein looks thrilled to see me.
Picture
Super excited for Monstruos 3.0
Picture
Oh, you want to see some Fast and Furious? Here you go!
Picture
Supports for the Sound Walls. Sound Tunnels? Sound Abatement? Sound Blockers?
Picture
The pull-through has made it past the mid-course brake
Picture
Despite the covering on it, this is definitely the Dodge Charger ride vehicle
Picture
Picture
The biggest thing they still have to do is the covering for this section over the Starway
Picture
And this section at the bottom of the hill
Picture
Picture
Picture
The sound walls are HUGE. I don't think they'll go any higher than this though.
Picture
Picture
Looks like they are testing designs for the outside of the wall. I think movie posters could be cool. Or a blue screen.
Picture
The hillside project looks to be nearing completion. They did this SUPER quick.
Picture
This will provide some much needed extra queue space for the Jason house, and is rumored to become a permanent structure for future Halloween Horror Nights/Universal FanFest Nights events. Can't imagine they'll have time to get it done for this years HHN.
Picture
Can't wait to get pics/video of Fast and Furious from this spot
Picture
Picture
We don't usually like to speculate on what's coming to HHN, but this is pretty obvious at this point. Although, we don't know what Blumhouse properties are included.
Picture
Picture
I absolutely love that they keep updating the Hollywood sign. Hope it continues.
Picture
More Terror Tram construction
Picture
Looks like they might be setting up another RIP Tour exclusive room like they had last year.
Picture
NOPE was closed, not sure if for HHN or for filming.
Picture
Judging from all the activity going on in Falls Lake, I'm guessing filming. Although it'd be pretty cool to have this spot in use for HHN. =)
Picture
Out in CityWalk, the cookie place is still rumored to be opening before HHN
Picture
Not sure when Slice House is opening. However if you're looking for a great pizza, you can't go wrong with Vivo just down the road. We ate here before seeing Superman in IMAX the night we shot this update.
Picture
Johnny Rockets is now closed. I remember seeing signs that it was going to be a Korean BBQ place or something, but those are gone.
Picture
I don't think I ever ate at the Johnny Rockets.
Picture
The NBA Store is finally starting to get some work done on the outside.
Picture
Raising Cane's is progressing as well. This will definitely be a popular location once it opens.
Picture
And lastly, work is continuing on the new security area's here and outside of Jurassic Parking. Still wondering how they're going to do that.

UNIVERSAL DESTINATIONS & EXPERIENCES REVEALS CHILLING HAUNTED HOUSES COMING TO UNIVERSAL HORROR UNLEASHED, LAS VEGAS IN 2025

Universal Monsters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer and More Coming to the Company’s First-Ever Year-Round Horror Experience
Orlando, Fla. (October 31, 2024) – Today Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX), creator of the global phenomenon Halloween Horror Nights, announced that Universal Horror Unleashed – the company’s first-ever year-round horror experience – is coming to Las Vegas in 2025.

In a darkened warehouse on the edge of Las Vegas, a relentless spectacle of horror is rising. Universal Horror Unleashed. For decades, Universal’s masters of horror have created some of the world’s most frightening films and events. Now guests can experience it all in a year-round fully immersive horror experience. The fears only felt in movies will come to bone-chilling life. Enter the evils of four haunted houses, each with its own terrifying story: Universal Monsters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scarecrow: The Reaping and Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer. These haunted houses aren’t for the faint of heart – they are intense and feature elevated moments where the horror surrounds guests in unimaginable ways.

The nightmares don’t end there. Surrounding the houses are four sinisterly themed and immersive areas, featuring unique live entertainment experiences. In select locations, guests can enjoy eerie eateries and bars featuring horror-centric food and drink offerings. Plus, guests can expect a continuously updated experience with must-see seasonal events and one-of-a-kind merchandise. Your deepest fears are closer than you think.

Universal Horror Unleashed, first announced in 2023, is part of the company’s ambition to introduce new products to new audiences in new markets. It is the anchor tenant in the 20-acre expansion of AREA15, an immersive entertainment district in Las Vegas.

“Universal’s rich history in the creation of the horror genre drove our desire to bring a year-round horror experience to the incredible entertainment offerings in Las Vegas,” said Page Thompson, President of New Ventures for UDX. “We’re thrilled to have our award winning Creative and Entertainment teams working tirelessly to bring these terrors to life in 2025.”

Universal has long defined the horror genre with its classic films featuring iconic characters such as Frankenstein, The Mummy, and the Wolf Man and only Universal ignites this genre’s thrill and excitement in three-dimensional, full scale. UDX will continue to share more details on the plans for Universal Horror Unleashed in the months ahead. We started our very hot run-through of houses on the lower lot.
Picture
The Weeknd is back and we absolutely loved this house. Despite not being huge fans of The Weeknd we enjoyed the first house in 2022, so we did dive into his music a bit after that. I think we both enjoyed Nightmare Trilogy even more than the previous house.

I'll be honest, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is my least favorite horror franchise. And it's not even close. That being said, other than Titans of Terror this is my favorite of the TX Chainsaw houses. Lots of new stuff in this one and not just repeats of previous houses. It really does work as a multiverse thing.

Picture
We weren't quite sure what to expect from this house having never done Dead Exposure in Orlando. But we definitely enjoyed it. Just a fun Zombie house and the Cold Storage room was very welcome during our record heat wave.

Picture
We absolutely love the Unviersal Monsters houses. The characters are so rich in film and studio history. And this may be our favorite of the Universal Monster houses they've done. The Bride was so fantastic in 2022 and it's great to see her back in a house. Some amazing sets in this one and we hope they continue to do these houses every year.

Would LOVE to see a 3D Creature from the Black Lagoon house or a completely black and white house at some point.

Picture
Another horror franchise we really aren't 'that' into but this house really delivered. It's probably our favorite of any of the Insidious houses they've done and tells a really great story.

Picture
The first Ghostbusters house was one of our absolute favorite houses of 2019, so we were very excited about it's return this year. Despite not being huge fans of Frozen Empire (the movie) this house really delivered. Not only some great moments from the new film, but quite a few Easter Eggs throughout the house. We can't wait to find more as we visit HHN more this season.

In addition, apparently the house was supposed to be "frozen" but they had some issues with the AC last weekend. Hopefully they'll get that fixed as it would add so much to the house.

Picture
Easily one of our most anticipated houses of this years event and it completely delivered. I was glad the party behind us kept quiet so we could experience the true purpose of this house. Very different than anything they've ever tried before, and it worked. I had heard some people complain that it seemed short, but we didn't get that impression at all.

I will add, the addition of the actors in the house doing ASL and being so committed to doing so really added to the house. And it's just another step in HHN becoming more inclusive and accessible to everybody.
And that's to be applauded for the entire team and the talent.

Going to be completely transparent here. Monstruos was our last house of the night, and we were extremely hot and tired by the time we got here. That being said, the house last year was one of our favorites and this years house is just as fantastic. We cannot wait to get more walk-throughs of this house.

Two of my favorite pics we got from opening night are from this house. Can you guess which ones?

Picture
Many years the Terror Tram is kind of a mixed bag. While it's always fun to walk through the Bates Motel and War of the Worlds sets, it can often times seem like the same thing. We're happy to say this years Terror Tram, like last year, really delivers some fantastic fun and great scenes.

Be warned that the NOPE sets are not part of this years Terror Tram unless you are part of an RIP Tour.
Picture
Absolutely love that they HHN'ified the Hollywood Sign for Horror Nights.

Picture
As we all know it was brutally hot during opening weekend, so admittedly we did not spend as much time in the scare zones as we normally would for opening night. When we head back with our Frequent Fear passes we will make Scare Zones and shows a priority. So look for more updates soon. In the meantime, here are a few scarezone pics!
