Since it's Memorial Weekend more rides are continuing to open across the country and one of the most anticipated rides in the Mid-West opens this weekend, The Joker at Six Flags Great America.
We were invited out to their media day yesterday and as you'll see from Scott's report below it went off perfectly. Not only was the event amazing but all indications are that the ride is running amazing. And as you can see from the video below, it looks smooth and fun!

We'll start off with our full Reverse POV, B-Roll and opening ceremonies.
Our ride back to Joker. Nothing but top of the line service.

SFMM Justice League Update #10

5/18/2017

Picture
Today we headed out to Six Flags Magic Mountain to take in an offseason weekday and look at the progress on Justice League and Metropolis.

We'll also take a look at what's going on over at Hurricane Harbor which opens soon.

Written by Gregg Condon
From up on top of the hill you can see the new colors on Riddlers, well at least the track. The lighter shade is NOT the final color of the supports, that's just the primer.
Picture
It's going to be so nice to see this ride shiny and chrome again.
Picture
Through the trees you can see a bit of the final color of the supports. They definitely aren't as bright as they looked in the concept art.
Picture
Old and new. Much prefer the new.
Picture
Picture
The loop is staying green. Some reports we saw over the weekend indicated they were going to paint it yellow, but glad they went this way. You can see the final color of the supports on the right side of the loop.
Picture
One tidbit we did learn from the park is that there will be no additional hard hat tours of the ride or metropolis. This likely means they are very far along on the ride and want to keep the surprises a surprise.

A few other things will be coming from the park soon and we think you are going to like it but we've been sworn to secrecy.

As you can see here they are starting to build the entry into the building.
Picture
Some old, some new. It's going to be great to see the new look of this area.
Picture
Looks like JB's is getting ready for it's makeover.
Picture
Wanted to also touch on a couple of things regarding the delay of this version of Justice League:
  • Two additional rooms in SFMM's version
  • New main villain which means different effects, AA's, etc
  • Distance between West Coast and Sally Corp
  • Warner Brothers proximity and them being much more involved in this version (When we had our backstage look at Fright Fest make-up last year we couldn't get pictures of any of the DC Suicide Squad characters because of WB)

So yes, while it sucks it's not open yet, SFMM is a year-round park and the hidden blessing in this is that they won't be going head to head with Guardians opening.

Moving on from Metropolis, since we were actually just taking it easy in the park today we noticed some new things that we probably missed on previous visits.

Looks like the Superman logo got some fresh paint recently. Weird spot for that trash can though.
Picture
Some new tables and planters just outside of Jet Stream. This will be nice overflow seating for the new food area.
Picture
All set for Grad Nite. The first one is tonight.
Picture

We've also been remiss in taking a look at Hurricane Harbor which opens for the season on Memorial Weekend.

The family raft ride got a new coat of paint.

And it looks like it's getting some new fancy rafts to match. Love little things like this that normally don't get noticed.

Hoping for a nice Hurricane Harbor expansion one of these years. Some of the original slides are in need of replacing.
Picture
Alright, that's going to wrap it up, we hope you enjoyed the update. Not sure when we'll have another update, just depends on a few things going on over the next couple of weeks.

Also, if you can't wait to see what Justice League is going to look like (minus the couple of surprises in the SFMM version) be sure to check out our Media Day Coverage of Justice League at Six Flags Over Georgia.

Yesterday Randy from  Metro Atlanta Coaster Club  was out at Six Flags Over Georgia for media day for their all new Justice League: Battle for Metropolis.

This is the first of three such rides to open at different Six Flags Parks for 2017. Below we've got some amazing pictures, POV and Reverse POV video and some additional information on how you can ride the ride starting this weekend!

Eager to test out Six Flags' new Justice League 4D dark ride? You have two chances to ride it before the grand opening on May 26.

If you're a season passholder, you can try it out next Saturday and Sunday (May 20-21) just by showing your pass.

For an even earlier crack at it, purchase a special-edition souvenir T-shirt in the park and you can ride it THIS WEEKEND (May 13-14) between noon-6pm each day!

SFMM Justice League Update #9

Today we're back at Six Flags Magic Mountain for another look at Metropolis and Justice League Battle For Metropolis.

Also, Apocalypse finally reopened this weekend after a lengthy refubishment and re-tracking. Did it help? Read on below.

Old and new ... wish it was sunnier so you could see the difference better. I do like the green, haven't seen any of the new support color yet.

As we were walking by they were opening Apocalypse. You can see them removing the sign here.

So did the re-tracking help? Yes and no.

The parts that were re-tracked are great. Smooth and fun. They did re-track the worst parts of the ride so that's awesome. Still there are a few parts that didn't get re-tracked and it would have been nice to see the entire ride get a re-track. We're hoping this is a multi-year process and the ride will come back down next offseason for more work to bring it back to where it was on opening day.

We can definitely see the reason why the park wants to get the ride open for the busy Summer season.

The park is advertising a couple of movies, one of them would make an AMAZING Fright Fest maze. We'll let you guess which one.

They are also preparing for their Grad Nite festivities.

Picture
Swashbuckler is also closed for a refurbishment. Don't think there's any other ride at this park that get's as much refurbishment as Swashbuckler.
Picture
Drop of Doom was closed due to high winds and sadly not to move the VR off of Revolution and onto the drop ride like some other Six Flags parks.
Picture
And lastly, we'll leave you with some Twisted Colossus pictures, because why not.
