Final Visit to SFMM Fright Fest 2021 - Sliders of the Night Show!

It's now getting into the final week of the 2021 Halloween season. In some ways it seems like it's been going on for a long time, in other ways it seems like it just began. It's been a phenomenal season and this week we have so many events to visit or revisit.

So it was last Friday after doing some Santa Clarita Valley Home Haunts that we found ourselves at Fright Fest for our last visit of the 2021 season. In many ways it's been a weird season for not just Fright Fest, but a lot of events. But we're so happy to say that the event is firing on all cylinders as they close out their season.

Visiting on a Friday is definitely a different crowd/vibe than visiting on a Saturday, and we HIGHLY recommend it. Not a lot of crowds, or teenager groups just wandering around trying to "scare" the actors. Just a really fun night all the way around. Let's head right in and get to the pics!

At about 10:30pm, this was the wait that greeted us.

Hello Mr. Demon

One last walk through Terror Rising (still don't think they need the Dark Developments tagline)
Picture
It definitely is creepy and gives some amazing views of Viper, which was running, well, like Viper.

I don't remember seeing this last time. Hmm.

We of course had to say hi to our friends in Nightmares

There are so many new and amazing characters in this area. You can tell they really all love working with each other. Look for this scare zone to be absolutely insane in 2022.

The more I think about it, the more I hope the neon Zombie theme extends to the Aftermath maze in 2022.

Some amazing lighting, sets and characters here.

Our first "official" Wonder Woman construction pic!

This was our first time walking through Witches Lair, it had been too busy all the other times we've visited. We really enjoyed it!
Picture
That said, would REALLY like to see City Under Seige expand to this area, and the Witches take over the area between Full Throttle and Goliath. They've earned it!

Picture
Of course, our main must-see of the night was Sliders of the Night. It's an amazing slider show. But first, some fun with the amazing talent back here.

Got my awesome noggin-to-noggin what's up from one of the Exile Bros!

Before the show we took a ride on The Flash, because why not.

Some pics from the show!

Thanks Fright Fest for another great season, they really bring it every night. And that's to be commended given the stresses of the 2021 season.

I'll be back at the park on Friday during the day for a proper "park update", it's been awhile, so look forward to that. This week we'll be visiting Halloween events on Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat and Sun. So stay tuned!

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces Record 20th Coaster WONDER WOMAN Flight of Courage

Picture
The Tallest and Longest Single-Rail Coaster on the Planet Will Debut at The Thrill Capital of the World Summer 2022
Picture
VALENCIA, California — October 21, 2021 — Six Flags Magic Mountain, the undisputed “Thrill Capital of the World,” in partnership with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and DC, today unveiled plans to add yet another record-breaking coaster--WONDER WOMAN™ Flight of Courage—to its unparalleled thrill ride lineup. Six Flags Magic Mountain’s record 20th roller coaster—the most at any theme park in the world—will debut as the tallest and longest single-rail coaster on the planet where riders will fly over 3,300 feet of track, towering 13 stories and soaring at speeds up to 58 miles-per-hour.  The new coaster will be located in the six-acre DC UNIVERSE™ area of the park, which will be expanded and entirely remodeled to include a new, innovative restaurant and bar experience, plus retail locations featuring exclusive DC branded merchandise.
“This is an historic milestone for our park as we introduce the latest addition to our unrivaled coaster dynasty, WONDER WOMAN Flight of Courage. Not only is this a record-breaking single-rail coaster, it brings Six Flags Magic Mountain’s coaster count to an unprecedented twenty, the most in the world,” said Park President Don McCoy. “Our partnership with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment makes this accomplishment even more exciting, as we integrate the legacy of an iconic DC Super Hero into the theming of the ride. Additionally, we are creating a more innovative guest experience by redesigning one of our most popular areas, DC UNIVERSE, which will become the home of WONDER WOMAN Flight of Courage,” added McCoy.

WONDER WOMAN Flight of Courage exemplifies the Super Hero’s traits of strength and speed—showcasing the legacy of Wonder Woman herself. As guests enter the ride queue, influenced by Greek architecture and featuring tropical landscaping, they will be immersed in the story of her life and how she obtained her super powers. Riders will join forces with Wonder Woman in the fight for truth, justice, and equality, to embark on an incredible journey of heroic feats, propelling through dives, banks, rolls, and turns designed to challenge the bravest of thrill seekers.

Key features of WONDER WOMAN Flight of Courage include:
  • Themed entrance portal and queue inspired by the hidden island of Themyscira;
  • Four sleek trains of 12 passengers each sitting one rider per row along the monorail track;
  • 3,300 feet of single-rail, I-beam track;
  • Tension-building ascent up a towering, 131-foot lift hill;
  • Reaching speeds up to 58 mph;
  • Intense elements including a steep, 87-degree first drop and overbanked cutback; and
  • Three dramatic inversions including a 180-degree stall, raven dive, and zero-gravity roll.

The newly-themed DC UNIVERSE™ area also includes the popular BATMAN™ The Ride and several other DC themed rides.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Updates Covid Policy Due To New L.A. County Regulations

Six Flags Magic Mountain has updated the Covid Regulations on their website due to a new L.A. County Regulation.

On days that the park is expected to surpass 10,000 visitors, the park is considered a Mega-Event and visitors will have to show proof of Vaccination or negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours.
Picture
The park is also offering an expedited way of submitting your status.

We strongly suggest downloading the clear app as it probably will need to be used at more events moving forward.
Picture
In addition. Mask mandates are returning on Mega-Event dates.
Picture
On non-Mega-Event days, the mandates are in line with what we have now.

The park will also be offering on-site testing. For free.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts crowds on Fright Fest days for the rest of the month.

This will definitely be an interesting few weeks for the park. But it makes us want to visit even more.
