Six Flags Magic Mountain 2022 Project Update - May 25, 2021

Picture
Happy Tuesday and welcome to another update from Six Flags Magic Mountain!

In this update you'll see some more of the deconstruction of Tidal Wave, and also unfortunately the crowds that have descended on the park even though it's still currently only at 35% capacity. In the video below I share some thoughts on this so I won't go into it too much here.

Written by Gregg Condon

No more temperature checks at the park!
Picture
Security was a breeze as always, love this new system! But park entry was another story.
Picture
This was the line to get in at about 2:00pm on Saturday. So much for the reservations and staggered arrivals.
Picture
The Membership "skip the line" and Flash Pass lines were quite long as well.
Picture
Picture
Headed up to Samurai Summit for the first time since reopening. Wonder if we'll be seeing Fright Fest this year.
Picture
Through the trees you can see what's left of Tidal Wave
Picture
Guessing by this time next week this will be mostly gone
Picture
Picture
Anybody remember when Riddlers, Tidal Wave AND Freefall were here?
Picture
Picture
Lamps are being removed as well
Picture
Sorry for the pole, but here you can see how much is being removed. Oddly enough, it doesn't look like they've done much removal of the station. Hmm.
Picture
They've kept some vegitation and removed some
Picture
Picture
From the other side you can definitely see how little is left
Picture
Picture
On the way out, a look at the newly repainted Hurricane Harbor slides. The park seemed pretty empty, anybody been to HH? How have the crowds been?
Picture
As I was leaving, they were testing the buses. And having to tell everybody not to walk in the bus route. So things ARE returning to normal.

Six Flags Magic Mountain 2022 Project Update - May 17, 2021

Picture
Last Friday I made a quick stop at Six Flags Magic Mountain on my way up to the Bay Area for some coaster fun at Discovery Kingdom and Great America (those updates are coming up over the next couple of days).

Lots of work going on with the 2022 Coaster Project (rumored RMC single rail coaster).

Written by Gregg Condon
I did have to keep reminding myself that this is now the 2022 project, not 2021, even uploaded the video below as 2021 at first. Thanks to the commenters for catching that for me! This is why you don't edit and narrate video at 7am from a hotel room. =)
Picture
Welcome to Magic Mountain! Getting into the park was super easy, more touchless security checkpoints have been added. Wish more parks would go this route.
Picture
Headed straight to the back of the park for some solo rides on West Coast Racers, Apocalypse and Gold Rusher.
Picture
Picture
I guess I could have ridden Tatsu, but I'm honestly not a fan of it. I'll give it my yearly courtesy ride at some point.
Picture
The park is looking great!
Picture
Picture
The underground at about 10:40 or so.

Picture
Solo rides are so fun! I did get a few of these over the weekend!
Picture
Picture
Picture
Apocalypse was running well, still could use a bit of track work in a couple of spots
Picture
Let's check out what's going on with the 2022 coaster!
Picture
There is fence from the exit of Riddlers all the way around the planter towards the bbq restaurant.
Picture
Tidal wave is being removed. While this was inevitable, can't help but feel a park as big (and as hot) as SFMM needs more than 2 water rides.
Picture
The Dining area is still open, but no shade
Picture
Tidal Wave sign is gone
Picture
Hope they keep the outer wall as it looks really nice
Picture
Picture
Over on the DC Universe Side, more walls
Picture
Picture
Most of the signage for Green Lantern is still up, maybe the new coaster will keep that theme?
Picture
The facades have been removed, which is odd. Most likely they were in the way of the coaster layout.
Picture
The warehouse there stores all of the prizes for the nearby games. Wondering if it will remain. Time will tell.
Picture
Picture
Here you can see the flume for Tidal Wave being removed
Picture
Picture
Batman just reopened from a new paint job and refurbishment. It's looking and running great!

We hope you enjoyed the update, we'll be back at the park in a couple of weeks for more fun and updates.

DMV’S Tallest, Fastest Pendulum Ride Opening atSix Flags America

Picture
Harley Quinn Spinsanity Brings Extreme Adrenaline Rush
BOWIE, MD — May 13, 2021 — Six Flags America, DC’s Thrill Capital, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC, today announced that its newest attraction--Harley Quinn Spinsanity—will make its official debut on May 14, 2021. The oversized giant pendulum ride, named after the iconic DC Super-Villain Harley Quinn, promises to deliver epic, high-flying excitement as it spins and swings to breathtaking heights.
“Six Flags America takes pride in continuing to introduce innovative new attractions to provide a great experience for guests in the region,” said Park President Richard Pretlow. “Harley Quinn Spinsanity is the tallest, fastest, and most extreme pendulum ride in the DMV and will be a guest favorite whether you’re riding it or watching it swing 15 stories over the midway,” added Pretlow.

The towering, impressive giant disc will reach speeds up to 70 miles per hour as it whips back and forth going higher and higher while constantly spinning, giving riders an exhilarating riding experience. Harley Quinn Spinsanity highlights include:
  • 40 riders will be powered 15 stories in the air at speeds of 70 miles per hour;
  • The ride swings back and forth while rotating counterclockwise;
  • As guests swing higher and higher, they will experience a feeling of weightlessness at 147 feet in the air before plunging downward from 15 stories; and
  • This is the tallest, fastest and most extreme pendulum ride in all of DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Harley Quinn Spinsanity will take her rightful villainous place across from The Joker’s Jinx and Riddle Me This in the park’s Gotham City section.

Health & Safety Protocols – Six Flags worked in partnership with its epidemiologist consultants to create a safe experience that meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines. Park attendance will be carefully monitored and all Members, Season Pass Holders, and guests with single-day tickets will be required to make a reservation to visit Six Flags America. In addition:
  • All team members and all guests 2 years and up are required to wear masks covering the nose and mouth while in the park;
  • Props, rides, restraints, handrails, and dining and restroom facilities are cleaned and sanitized regularly; and
  • Multiple alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the park for guest and team member usage.
