Obviously, the first thing one must do is download the app and figure out where in the plethora of other apps you are going to put it. Luckily I have a folder dedicated to Theme Park apps. Yep, I'm a dork. =) (Click on any of the pictures below to see a larger version) ![]() A new app has been released by Six Flags that has some pretty great capabilities so of course we took some time today to play around with it, gathered some screen shots and we'll review it for you below. If you'd like to download it you can do so from the Android or Apple store. Written by Gregg Condon Once you download the app you can either enter in your pass number or scan it. I had no problem scanning my pass and it came right up. Perks and Conditions and where the pass is valid at. Your home park is also featured at the top by default. You can also access your Rewards and Coupons to see what's already on your pass. Bonus!!! If you are visiting another park you can click the "Park Selection" and see hours, events and rides at any of the Six Flags parks. Parks are listed alphabetically (by state) and are easy to navigate through them. La Ronde and Six Flags Mexico are also included. Once you've selected your park the hours will display as well as options for buying tickets and a list of rides in alphabetical order. You can also filter the rides by Thrill Level and Height Requirement. Any special events are listed such as Season Pass ERT events and other events like the Coaster Challenge at Six Flags Great America. Most of the parks events looked like this, easy to see what they are, the dates and whether you want to take the chance of a park full of cheerleaders. =) So that's about it for our review of the new app. Overall we think the App is a great improvement over any of the 3rd party apps out there. The ability to have your pass in your phone alleviates the need for an "oh crap" pass since most of us grab our phones before anything else prior to leaving the house. Obviously the one thing missing from the app ... ride wait times. This is probably the #1 ask for all of these apps and probably the hardest thing for most parks to implement. Hopefully an easy solution will come one of these days. Maybe scanning your phone at the entrance and exit while using the app? Of course, most people won't remember to do the 2nd scan. Have you downloaded the app yet? Let us know what you think. And Apple users, let us know if there are any differences on that app. We're interested to know.

Dare Devil is now open at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!!!
Below you will find all of the info for the new thrill ride including ride stats, video footage and lots of pictures. Be sure to head out and check out this new attraction this summer!!
VALLEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The all-new Dare Devil Chaos Coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom promises to be a smash hit for daredevils everywhere. The new attraction opens to the public on May 23, and is being described as “hair-raising,” “invigorating” and “thrilling” by riders who were treated to a sneak preview at Northern California’s most thrilling theme park.
As the park’s 9th thrill attraction, Dare Devil Chaos Coaster features a 70-foot tall looped track that takes 24 riders ‒ most sitting face-to-face ‒ propelling pendulum-style backwards and forwards until momentum takes them into one of the longest suspended hang-times around, as they then rocket through six to seven cycles of full inversions. “The suspense of anticipating the upside down hang time takes the thrill factor up several notches,” said Don McCoy, park president. “The single loop is very deceptive; this is probably the most intense ride we’ve built and we’re excited to introduce this new coaster to all of our daredevil guests.”
To launch the new ride, the park has partnered with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a leading funder of children’s cancer research grants, known for their head-shaving fundraising events. The first riders are comprised of real-life daredevils — young cancer patients and their families. In conjunction with the ride launch event, the park is announcing a Six Flags Discovery Kingdom head-shaving fundraiser to take place on June 27.
“We encourage the public to show their daredevil spirit and raise important funds by having their heads shaved to benefit St. Baldrick’s, one of the country’s leading funders of cancer research for kids,” said McCoy. “By taking on this challenge, they can truly show solidarity for kids with cancer.”
Dare Devil Chaos Coaster is located in the park’s Oasis Plaza featuring a fiery red and orange track with bright yellow cars. Towering flames highlight the top. The newly named Dare Devil Grill, located adjacent to the new ride, will open soon featuring burgers and snacks.

If you have any comments, please share them below. We'll start off with a fun video of the Gold Passholder walk-back to the ride. It was about 5 minutes long, but that was boring. So we sped it up and added some Yakety Sax. Plus we took a look at the estimated 3 hour line. After letting us into the park via the side entrance near Will-Call, they held all of the Gold Passholders near Vault 666. Written, Photographed and Video'd by Gregg Condon ![]() Five visits to Six Flags Magic Mountain in one week, there's got to be a good reason to visit a park that much, and fortunately this week there is. =) We headed back up to the park today to take in opening day. No ceremony was held, but the park was packed, the ride was amazing and once again the staff of the park showed what they can do when teamwork is the name of the game. Because one can apparently never have enough pictures of Full Throttle ... =) And they're off!!! Still a few things to be done. So the line stopped just past the Screampunk District sign, but they quickly filled up the queue building and the line that goes down towards Scream. They were also giving out boarding passes today. Oh yeah, Scream is back open ... "Thanks for rememberin' me" They gave out some awesome "I Rode First" buttons at the exit. At the end of the video above (under Superman) it was an estimated 3 hour wait. They conceded that it may have been 2 1/2, but better to tell people 3 hours and have it be shorter. =) So it's been awhile since we've actually walked out into the park, seriously, even though we've been at the park a LOT over the last month, today was the first day we ventured outside of Screampunk District since April. Soooo ... what's going on? Looks like at least one Jet Stream Boat is getting some TLC, this looked great from up close on the ride. But of course, we aren't going to take pictures from the ride now are we. =) Hoping this is just the first of many re-done boats. What, a theme park that actually goes all out for Grad Night and does decorations? =) Full Throttle Nights is back ... TONIGHT!!! Swashbuckler looks VERY close to being back open, and looks great. Goliath, still closed. Today was Jubilee, always one of the busiest days of the year. Need to try these, hopefully they are still around on our next visit. And with that, our Twisted Colossus updates have come to an official end. Hats off to the entire RMC and Six Flags Magic Mountain crew for creating an amazing ride that seems to be loved by all. This truly is the coaster the park has needed for a LONG time. High capacity, high fun and high repeatability. We're most likely going to be taking a bit of a break from the park, it's Hurricane Harbor Season so we'll likely have an update from there in the next week or two, but it may be longer, just depends. Family obligations are going to take priority for awhile. But that doesn't mean we won't be doing anything, you'll just have to wait and see what we've got in store. =) If you enjoyed this update please share with your friends and make sure you "like" us on Facebook and "follow" us on Twitter and Instagram. If you have any comments, please share them below. ![]() What a Lovely Day!!! Seriously. Media Day for Twisted Colossus was all kinds of amazing. Not only is Twisted Colossus amazing, not only is the Steampunk District amazing, not only is Scream back open (tee hee) but Six Flags Magic Mountain just put on what is probably their best media day event, at least best out of the half dozen or so we've been to. More than it just being an amazing day, you could tell by how relaxed and at ease the Six Flags Magic Mountain management and staff were, they know they've got an absolute hit on their hands, and they hands down do. Below we'll break down Media Day and share some videos (there are four of them). Our full reviews of the ride and area will come after opening weekend. Written by Gregg Condon - Photo's by CoasterMatt and Gregg Condon - Video by Gregg Condon First up, let's kick off the event with Bonnie Rabjohn and friends opening Twisted Colossus with lots of pyro. Because pyro makes everything better. Be sure to watch all of the video's below in HD Quality!!! And of course, we've got some amazing pictures as well. Bonnie Rabjohn addressing the crowd. We actually spent a lot of time just chatting with Bonnie at the event, she's always been so gracious and cool with us and it's much appreciated. Like I said above, you can just tell by her staff that they love working for her and that they all love what Twisted Colossus and the Screampunk District will bring to the park. This is obviously one of CoasterMatt's shots. And this one too. =) One of only two contributions from Gregg this update. =) Enjoy the ride in motion ... Bonnie Rabjohn, Doug, Greg and Jeff Bernard (who built the original Colossus) and Fred Grubb from RMC. Twisted Colossus is hardly the only thing new at Magic Mountain, the Screampunk District looks AMAZING and along with DC Universe is the best themed area in the park. It's easy for people to say Twisted Colossus is so good because it was done by RMC, but keep in mind, everything else from Twisted Colossus being painted and having wood replaced to the queue to ALL of Screampunk was done in-house at Six Flags. And they did an AMAZING job. Below we have a full walk-through of the area and a lot of the little touches they added really do go a long way. As you'll see from the pics below, it really is quite amazing. New at the Gearworks Theatre this summer is Kwerk created by Michael Turco who has done a few shows at the park now as well as the Fright Feast dinner shows for Fright Fest. We saw a preview of the show and enjoyed it a lot. Definitely the most ambitious show Six Flags Magic Mountain has ever attempted. Hopefully people will take the time to see it. Lots of great little touches in the area and it's nice that they went drought resistant here in California. Been looking for a new bike ... =) Last and certainly not least, the crown jewel in the parks coaster line-up ... Twisted Colossus. We've got two great videos for you. First up a walk-through of the queue building and a POV video from the last seat on the train. I love that they've re-purposed the Colossus building but updated it to fit the theme, but also keeping some little touches of the original. It works very well. Great steampunk touches in the queue. And of course, our reverse POV footage and full on-ride POV of Twisted Colossus. Thanks for following along with our updates during media day, without a doubt it was the single biggest day in the history of this website, on social media anyway. A lot of new fans have found us on Facebook (almost 60 on Media Day) and for that we are totally grateful for you fans sharing our updates. One of our posts (the POV video) received more than 10,000 views in the first few hours, for us that's simply unbelievable and unfathomable. But we are so grateful you've all enjoyed the updates. And of course, in August we'll be hearing what Six Flags is bringing to their parks in 2016 and this will all be starting over again. And we'll of course be along for the ride.
