5/23/2023 Six Flags Magic Mountain Update - Viva La Fiesta, Park Improvements, Ride SPeculation - May 23, 2023It's been awhile since our last full park update from Six Flags Magic Mountain. Since there is nothing under construction at the moment, there really hasn't been much to report on. Fortunately, with the plethora of food festivals and other events the park is holding this year, we're able to bring you some pictures of Viva La Fiesta which is going on at the park select days right now. In addition, there are a couple of park improvement projects going on and I've got some speculation on what I think the next attraction at the park is going to be.  Despite all the buses, it was a quite enjoyable visit to the park.   Viva La Fiesta has taken over the park entry area and other areas of the park.   Lots of great photo ops around Six Flags Plaza.   It was a beautiful spring day at the park.  And the park itself is looking fantastic!   More photo ops in Full Throttle Plaza.   I'm assuming a tribute to Latin singers? I apologize, other than Selena I don't know who the others are.  The DJ Booth from Scream Break is still here for Viva La Fiesta.  Moving over to DC Universe really quick, it looks like they still have some work to do on the dome over the DC Store. I had wondered if they finished it and had to go back and fix something, but nope, even our January update it wasn't done.  Over in the Boardwalk, they're still working on same games in the area.   Still hoping that one day they'll open up this area a bit more so you can see the attractions on the other side of the games.  Speaking of attractions on the other side of the games (see what I did there?). Next time you ride Wonder Woman, take a look at where the Tidal Wave turnaround used to be. There is definitely some work being done, or that has been done. There are also a couple of small earth movers over there.  The park definitely needs more than 2 water rides, neither of which were open during my visit. I think the next attraction for the park will be a Mack Powersplash like Aquaman at SFOT and/or a Splash Battle similar to Penguin at SFDK. Yes, there is room for both.  In fact, I'm going to speculate even further than the parks priority will (and should) be water attractions at both SFMM and Hurricane Harbor for the next 2-3 years. But we'll see! We're going to have a video in a few weeks outlining what we think is coming for all SF parks over the next few years. Stay tuned!  Somebody on Twitter mentioned that Justice League has ditched the 3D, I was hoping to ride but it was closed. I wonder if it's closed to switch to 2D?  Over in The Underground, we've got more Viva La Fiesta food and decorations.  I mentioned on Twitter that they should retheme this entire area to Viva La Fiesta and SFMM actually liked the tweet. Hmm. =)  Some of the food available and the prices. Not too bad.    Moving up towards Tatsu, they are planting an entire row of trees heading up the hill. So many trees have needed to be removed from this area the past few years, it's nice that they are bringing some back.  Roaring Rapids is STILL closed, but we've been told the ride is coming back in 2023. Hopefully soon before the hot summer months.  During a coaster event a few weeks back, the question came up about the Sky Tower, which led to some speculation that the park is looking to bring it back. We've asked at least half-a-dozen times over the years and we always get the same answer. No. It's too cost prohibitive. Don't get your hopes up, but if we're wrong we'll admit it. =)  Revolution is currently running 1 train due to refurb, really would love it if they'd add a 3rd train to the fleet so this popular coaster could always run at least 2.  Last week the long-awaited Justice League Battle For Metropolis opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain with an amazing media event. Very different than past media events at the park, this was more of a party for the ride and new area more than just a "working media" event where there's lots of downtime for filming, etc. Written by Matthew Nelson I think we're in the right place  Getting warm  Looks like we've made it!!  Some great entertainment was set up   Looks fantastic  Oh yeah, this is here too  (growly voice) I'm Batman!!  No, WE'RE Batman (Batmen?)  Riddler's new sign looks great, and the ride is running amazing!!  All lit up and ready to go.   The Justice League was on hand to open the ride   We're The Justice League (and I'm Batman)  Fly on over to Magic Mountain and Join The League!!!  Also be sure to check out our video of the awesome pre-show Related Updates:  Last night we got a special preview of the all new Justice League Battle for Metropolis at Six Flags Magic Mountain. We're going to share some pictures, no spoilers of course. They actually took away our camera's and phones for certain parts of the attraction. We also have a quick review of the ride, again, no spoilers. Written by Gregg Condon It's officially summer in Southern California, but it sure makes for some nice pictures.  Tidal Wave's entrance is now moved, it was still closed. It's desperately needed right now.  Something is behind here.  Some walls are down and you can see the Hall of Justice. They still have some work to do before media night tomorrow.  Excited to ride Riddler's again.  Despite all the rumors to the contrary, they did paint this wall. It looks great in person.  We had a bit of time before our ride on Justice League so went to ride Apocalypse. The re-track has definitely helped this ride.  We are among the first to ride. You can get one of these buttons as well if you attend on opening day. They will be giving these out until they are gone.  As close as we got to Ace O' Clubs (until tomorrow night)  The Hall of Justice looks great!!  So does Riddler's Revenge with it's all new fancy sign. 
Inside the Hall of Justice    Unlike the other versions where all of the statues and pre-show stuff is just in the queue, this version actually has two pre-show rooms.   Cyborg explains the ride  Some video of the pre-show. YES!! There is a Single Rider Line!!!!  The ride is amazing. For me the gold-standard for "shooter" rides is MIB at Universal Orlando. So I'm not going to say it's on that level. But every time I rode I had to remind myself that this is at SFMM. For me it was a cross between Transformers at Universal Studios and Buzz Lightyear. I'm not the biggest fan of Transformers so thought this was much better. The screens and scenes blend seamlessly and I think this is going to be a huge hit for the park. I haven't ridden the other versions so I'm not sure what's different on this one vs the others other than the pre-show. Hopefully once some others ride we'll do some comparison updates. But this is definitely a MUCH needed family attraction to a park that's short on them.  After closing down the park we always see Raccoon's hanging out. This visit was no exception.
